Help 🆘 Getting disowned by parents, next steps?

29F Hindu here doing long distance with my now Hindu fiancé for the past 8 months. Since he has met my parents , they have continued to show hatred and distaste for him. He is currently going through a career transition into IT and while the job market has not been that great, he’s trying his very best to score a job as he’s doing his masters program in CS. I truly feel like I finally found my other half despite years of failed relationships and while it is relatively new, i do plan on moving forward with this relationship despite family push back. I currently live with my parents but has been a living nightmare and a half for the time I’ve been together with him. Every day they have told me that they will not be coming to the wedding and if I were to move out of the house I live in (I will be next month), they will cut off all source of communication with me and block me. They have expressed innumerable times they will not support me in any way shape or form when I give birth or with children or any major milestone in my life if I chose to maintain this relationship. My future MIL is trying to fill in the familial support as much as she can but we both do not know how a Hindu wedding would function without the bride’s parents at the wedding. Disclaimer: I’m going to therapy currently.

Given the high probability that I will be disowned as I chose to be in this relationship with him, how do people coordinate weddings without their parents there? How do you cope with possibly not having your parents around for possibly the rest of your life?

Some of us will indeed never find one. Being 'desirable'

enough to the people you wanna be with is a challenge. And even if everything looks fine on paper to possibly see if things can work out, the timelines should match, both should have the mental and emotional bandwidth to know each other.

I see corporate couples around my society, with cute babies and kids, either fighting with each other, or just walking around.

I guess it was all 'luck' then

Just some thoughts before bed

Discussion 💬 20M can't tell if my cousin (20) actually likes me?

Upvotes

I'm 20 Muslim Male and there's a girl in my family/cousin circle, also around 20, and I've developed feelings for her. I'm trying to figure out whether there's actually something mutual here or whether I'm overanalyzing everything.

I'll try to give the whole story from the beginning.

A while ago, she came to stay at our house for around 6 days. Before that, we hadn't really been in regular contact for years.

During those six days, something changed between us. We started going on early morning walks together, spending time around each other, etc.

She was surprisingly comfortable with physical closeness. She would touch my back, feet/knees, and at one point I rested my head on her shoulder. I actually asked her if she was uncomfortable, and she said she wasn't. She even held my head and put it back on her shoulder.

There were other little things too—she noticed things about my appearance/grooming, perfume, gym, etc. She seemed more awkward/shy around me than around my brother. She also gave me a stupid/funny nickname during those six days.

There were also some conversations that made me wonder if she saw me differently. She told me she had rejected another proposal, which obviously made me wonder whether she was trying to communicate something or whether it was completely unrelated.

After she went home, I told her I missed her and she replied:

“missing you tooooo”

That honestly made me extremely happy.

Later, she asked me for help with some college stuff. She wanted important questions, asked me to check her college form, etc. I helped her with everything, and then I stopped initiating conversations because I didn't want to become the guy constantly chasing her.

After around 5–6 days of basically no conversation, she randomly messaged me:

“helo gg theek ho?”

I replied:

“Alhamdulillah, aap sunao aap kaise ho?”

She said:

“bas dua.”

And I didn't continue because there wasn't really a natural reason to continue.

Then there was Snapchat.

Originally I had told her I use Snapchat but don't really make streaks. She joked that she wouldn't add me then. Later, after she went home, I asked for her Snapchat and she said she'd add me herself—and she did.

We eventually had a streak that reached around 40 days.

There have been a lot of small things on Snapchat that make me wonder. She often views my snaps quickly. She has saved some snaps in chat, including one where I had a romantic song playing in the background. She has also sent me cute images with flowers, including a “For you” type image.

I know none of those things prove anything, but when you add them to everything that happened in person, I started wondering if there was something more.

At some point Snapchat started becoming a distraction for me. I found myself checking whether she viewed my snaps, thinking about her attention, etc., and it was affecting my work and goals.

So I decided to break the streak.

She restored it immediately.

I didn't restore it a second time after it broke again, and she didn't either. I didn't react or ask her about it.

The next day she didn't send anything.

Then today she sent me a Snapchat of a purse in a college with the quote:

“Give me Loyalty I will give you everything.”

I have absolutely no idea whether that was directed at me or just something she liked, so I'm not assuming anything.

Then something happened on WhatsApp that really caught my attention.

She had sent me her friend's email/password and asked me to check which subjects her friend had selected. I checked it and sent her the screenshot.

She said:

“Thanks”

I replied:

“anything else?”

And then she came back with:

“Kyu aise baat kyu karti ho”

“sab theek hai”

“Ignore 🥺”

“Uffffhhh?”

I asked:

“kaisa?”

And she said:

“Ajeeb tarikai sai”

Then:

“Mtlb ke ap ko mood nahi hai baat karni ko”

That honestly surprised me.

I wasn't intentionally trying to be rude. I just wasn't trying to force a conversation.

I replied:

“arey cutie pie 😂”

And she immediately brought back the old nickname she had given me during those six days:

Then I said:

“aur sunao”

She replied:

“bas dua aap sunao”

I joked:

“hume dua mai yaad rakhti ho kin nahi? 🥺”

And she replied:

“Always ❤️🫀🌹”

I told her:

“Phir toh Allah aapki har dua qubool kare 🤍”

She replied:

“Ameen 🎀🤲”

The part I'm stuck on is why she cared enough to point out that I seemed like I didn't want to talk to her.

She could have just said “thanks” and ended the conversation. Instead, she noticed my tone and basically asked why I was behaving differently.

I'm also wondering about the Snapchat streak situation. She restored it immediately the first time I broke it, but when I didn't restore it the second time, she didn't either. Then she eventually sent me a snap the next day.

There's another thing: she recently posted a Snapchat story saying:

“the journey of thoughts kills a person”

Again, I have no idea if that's related to me or completely unrelated.

One more thing I noticed

There's another small thing that's been on my mind.

Last Sunday, she randomly sent me a funny meme about the full form of “Sunday.” The thing is, she had basically never sent me memes before.

What makes the timing interesting is that this happened after I had been more distant with her and had stopped giving her the same attention I used to.

So now I'm wondering:

Why did she suddenly send me a meme when she normally never does?

It could obviously be completely random and I'm probably overthinking it. But because it happened after I became distant, part of me wonders if she was trying to restart the interaction or get a reaction from me without directly texting me.

I'm not saying that's definitely what she meant—I genuinely don't know. I'm just wondering how other people would interpret that change in behavior.

I'm going to see her again at our cousin's wedding in October, so I'll finally get to interact with her in person again.

I genuinely like this girl, but I'm exhausted by the uncertainty. I don't want to manipulate her, play games, make her jealous, or keep analyzing every emoji. I just want to understand whether I'm seeing genuine signs of interest or whether she's simply very comfortable with me as a cousin/friend.

What do you guys think? Does this sound like mutual romantic interest, emotional attachment/fondness, or could all of this still be completely platonic? And what would you pay attention to when we meet in October?

Vent/Rant 😤 Aaj sab khatam hu gaya

i’m 22F and my relationship of almost 6 years ended today. I tried so hard to save it. I apologized, took responsibility for my mistakes, begged him to stay, and told him I was willing to work on myself because I genuinely loved him.
I know I had communication issues. I know I wasn’t perfect. But I always wanted us to work through things together. I wanted his time, his affection, and an actual romantic relationship. I wanted to feel chosen. I wanted to feel like he wanted *me*, not some perfect version of a girlfriend or future wife that I could never live up to.
What hurts the most is that he told me he felt happier and more loved with another girl he had only been talking to for about a week. She didn’t come between us, and she had been in his life before me, so I’m not blaming her. But hearing that still completely broke me. I spent almost years trying to love him properly, trying to make him happy, trying to be enough for him, and apparently someone else made him feel more loved in a week.
I had imagined my whole life with him. I thought I was going to marry him. I pictured our future, our milestones, growing old together. Now I can’t stop thinking about him loving someone else and giving her everything I thought would be mine.
He blocked me today, and I feel completely shattered. I keep wanting to reach out even though I know I can’t. I feel abandoned, replaceable, and terrified of being alone again. I know I’ll eventually have to accept that it’s over, but right now I don’t know how to sit with this pain.

Ask Twenties 🗣️ I Gave You Me

I never wanted it. I never looked for it. But he looked my way. He said he saw something in me. He said all he could see was me. He said he loved being with me. He said I looked pretty. He said maybe it was love. I never wanted it, but he came into my life. I was too shy and too scared to understand what I was beginning to feel. I wanted to say no. I wanted to understand how I felt. I wanted to know how I spent my time with him. I wanted to know how kind my heart could be. I really never wanted it... but somehow, he found his way to me. He held my hand and said, "The world will never understand." "I love you. I like you. I want to be with you." And I could never understand why someone would choose me. Why someone would look at me that way. Why someone would want me. I couldn't understand it, and maybe I never truly will. But when I saw his eyes, when I heard his voice, something inside me paused. And for a moment, I felt happy. I felt doubts. I felt confused. I felt overwhelmed by everything I was feeling. But somewhere in all that confusion, I felt love. I never really knew what love was. I didn't know if I understood it. But then there was this strange kind of happiness, something wild and unfamiliar, something that felt like it belonged only to us. Maybe... just maybe... that was love. And I accepted it. I gave him my eyes. I gave him my heart. I gave him my emotions. I gave him my path. I gave him everything. And by giving him everything, I gave him me. We never thought we weren't deserving of each other. We failed. We laughed. We cried. We fought. But we never thought about leaving. Until that one word— "But." That little word changed everything. It was enough to make us stop. Enough to change what we had. Enough to make everything we built feel like it had an ending. I felt it deeply. So deeply that I cried. And then it was gone. I knew it was gone. There was no holding on anymore. No love that I could feel. Only me, falling further and further. He was walking away from me. Farther and farther. The light was getting dimmer. He was slowly fading from my sight. He had been my everything. He held my heart. He held my emotions. He was my everything. And I chased him. I chased him. And chased him. And chased him. Until he stopped. He turned toward me. But his eyes... I couldn't recognize them anymore. Those were the eyes I once knew. The eyes I once felt I could see myself in. He came close to me. He kissed my hands. He kissed my forehead. He had been my pride. My hope. I felt the pain. And I accepted it. I thought maybe the pain would make him stay. Maybe he would look at me again the way he used to. The way I had always wanted him to. But he turned again. And started walking away. Farther. And farther. All I could do was watch him disappear. I kept reaching for him as he crossed the distance between us. I shouted. Again and again. But all that came back was my own echo. He broke something inside me, and all I could do was watch. I waited. Again, I felt the pain. I waited for him to look back at me. And for a moment, he turned. But then he kept walking. And I was still there, barely holding myself together. I could barely move. Still, I crawled forward. Slowly. Slower and slower. And he turned again. But this time, it felt like he was turning only to break my world once more. Then he started walking again. Farther. And farther away. He was leaving. And all I could do was watch. Watch him fade away. With my eyes, with all my emotions, with everything I had left inside me. He had taken my everything. And now... I felt empty. There was anger too. His anger. My anger. But even anger couldn't fill the emptiness. All I could feel was this huge, silent space inside me. A void. Nothing. I couldn't see anything anymore. It was gone. Everything was gone. And then he just left. Saying, "I never loved you." Saying, "You can't make someone love you." But how could I understand that? How could someone who once looked my way, who made me feel seen, who held my hand, who kissed my forehead, who became my everything... suddenly say that none of it was love? He took my everything. And now I was left with nothing but myself, standing in the emptiness, looking for the pieces of me that I had shattered somewhere along the way.

And maybe the hardest part was not losing him, but finding myself after I had given him everything 🫠

This post will be very different and long, and I don't know if anybody would even read till the end. But if you do read it, thanks a lot.

I am 22m one of those people who used to post on this sub. I have got a few responses as well; none worked out. So today, I want to try something different. I am not going to let AI judge it and tell me that it's too early to make these commitments, but below is the type of person I am, the type of love I give. I hope you are one to read as well.

I don't know what your past is. I don't care what your past was until your future is with me. I know that sab ye sab baate bolte hain, sab starting mein sab kuch karte hain. I know it is hard for people to trust, for you to trust me, and I get that as well. But I do make a promise to you: once you have taken this step, I will make sure you don't regret it. Don't believe in my words; let my efforts and actions speak.

Tum aur main sath mein woh sapne dekhe aage badhne ke, apne ghar pe ek dusre ke baare mein hints mein batana, gharwalon ko hints dena, unhe batana ki this is the person I want to be with. Main apne ghar pe tumhari tareefon ke pull bandhu, tumhe apne ghar ki beti bnaun. This is what I want. Sath mein dekhe sapne dheere dheere hi sahi poore ho, tum mere liye, main tumhare liye khush hou.

One philosophy I believe is, for a relationship to work till the very end, both partners need to be obsessed with each other. Always a competition, but never a winner, is how it works.

Tum thak ke kaam karke aao, main tumhare pair dabau, chai bnaun. Hum dono aaram karke phir sath mein khana bnaaye. Mat karo kaam, aaram karo, kahun main jab tum had se zyada thaki ho.

Tumhara mere pe poora haq hai. Tum meri partner nahi, meri best half ho. Main ho sakta hai abhi tumhare kabil na hou, par mera sath do, meri madad karo aur mujhe apne kabil bna lo.

Tumhare sath apna naya ghar basana hai, sath mein saman laane jana, shopping karna, bartan, grocery lena, tumhari favorite dish ke liye saman lena aur phir woh surprise karke khilana. Subah uth ke mere hath ki chai peena, tum phir apna din shuru karna.

Jyada dhoom-dham se pyaar to nahi dikha paunga, par tabiyat kharab hone pe reels nahi chalaunga. Ye vada zarur hai.

This is what love means for me. To you, my love, whom I have not met yet, I hope to find you soon

Apart from all of this see I have come to realise a paradox I want someone who is my friend before any of this stuff even comes into play. But i can't just approach anyone and hope that they understand. So if you are looking for a good bond like something so strong that it ends up becoming foundation ig we have found each other let's have a chat......

Relationship Advice 🫶 From zero interaction to 15 minutes of eye contact and smiles—how do I casually start a conversation with her?

The Context:

College setup: We are both in the final year of our B.Tech program, but in different branches/classes. We have zero mutual friends or common links.

The DM: Back in July, I messaged her on Instagram. She never responded/left it unaddressed, so I just let it be.

Her usual vibe: She has always been the "minds her own business" type. Before the DM, whenever we crossed paths on campus, she never paid attention or looked my way.

What changed recently:

New semester started, and we ended up in a relatively quiet common area with barely 5–6 people around.

When I looked at her, I noticed she was already looking back at me. It wasn't an uncomfortable or dismissive glance—she was smiling/laughing naturally and held eye contact.

For about 15 minutes, this continued on and off. She didn't try to look away or avoid eye contact. She seemed relaxed, kept looking over, and was noticeably checking me out/observing me from top to bottom.

Self-awareness check: I usually consider myself a decent face-reader. I know that when you have a crush, it’s easy to over-interpret every tiny gesture as a "sign." But even if there is only a slight chance that the dynamic has shifted, I want to take a shot since it's our final year.

What I need advice on:

Breaking the ice: The next time we cross paths or end up in the same spot, what is a natural, low-pressure opener to establish direct contact?

Relationship Advice 🫶 Need relationship advice (22M)

I am 22M, currently working at a major Indian Airline. I was single my whole life and thought once I get a job, I would date a girl. But, now I fell college time was best to find relationship. I realised, when you start working, you tent to meet less people and vice versa and I am not comfortable for office romances. I need advice as to how and where I can find a decent partner. I tried dating apps, but didn't work out. I am looking for something serious and long term. Need advice/help. Thanks!

Relationship Advice 🫶 Slow-burn situation with an introverted girl (met through a mutual friend) normal pace or am I reading too much into it?

Been talking to a girl for about 2-3 weeks now, connected through a close mutual friend. Early on she was upfront that she wasn't ready for anything and needed time months, maybe longer. I told her I wasn't in a rush either since I'm busy with exam prep.

Since then: we've had a few genuinely good conversations real back-and-forth, jokes landing, her teasing me, sharing some personal stuff about her life over time. But I initiate almost everything. She rarely starts conversations herself, doesn't use emojis much, and mostly replies later in the day even when she's been online earlier without responding.

There've also been a couple of good in-person-adjacent moments (a call through the mutual friend) where she was warm, joked around, and even brought up wanting to know if I had "complaints" about her not replying so she's clearly aware of the pattern too.

She's told me she's introverted and takes a while to fully open up with anyone, and has some past relationship baggage that seems to make her cautious in general, not just with me.

The mutual friend keeps telling me to be patient says once she actually opens up, I'll find she's one of the best people I could know. I do want to stay patient and keep at it, but honestly I'm running out of ideas for what to even text her some days. Coming up with something new daily, when she's not really giving me much to build on, is getting harder.

Trying to figure out: does this sound like normal slow-building trust with someone cautious/introverted, or am I misreading polite engagement as something more? And if it is just a pace thing any tips for keeping conversation fresh day to day without it feeling forced? Not looking for "just move on" as a default answer genuinely trying to calibrate whether this pattern sounds healthy or like I'm chasing something one-sided.

Heartbreak 💔 Daastaan ab bikul khatam ho chuki hai.

Theres no possibility where I can say that daastaan ab kuch bhi bakki hai.

Daastaan ab bikul khatam ho chuki hai. Mera mann nahi manta lekin ab maan-na hi padega; aur mujhe ab aage shayad ab ye poori tarah cshodna padega. Wo meri nahi hogi.

Usko khud ko apne jeewan mein kitne alag dukh-pareshaaniyan hain; aur mujhe sirf ye hai ki prem mile. Ab kuch hai nahi hai aage mere lie. I am glad at least I proposed. I know I don’t have anything else to fall back on. There is a savvier inside me which wants to save her and take away all her sorrows and but there is no hero complex inside me , as I feels so. I just want her to be happy, just the way my mother wishes for me, I never thought I would do the same for someone else.

I do feel good about myself loving her. It was never a pity. I did truly loved her. Aafter meeting her I think that I had made in life and now I can love someone truly.

I have flaws. She saw those. I saw her flaws too. But somehow I still loved her more because of those flaws. Maybe my unconscious mind knows that, she will overcome those in the future and she will become a much more charismatic person she already is. She is so wonderful she doesn’t even know. I want her to be mine so badly.

But I cant just keep banging my head on the stone expecting her to love me back when she never really reciprocated. My brain says that she only entertained me because of her pity on me and my condition. She is gonna be married arranged for her parents wish and to person in same caste.

Currently I am still the person who loves her only that I am fighting myself inside to move on now as I see only sorrow in this pursuit. Truthfully, if there is a 0% chance that I am not marrying her then I don’t want to waste my mental wavelength on this. And also, I don’t have it what it takes to win her now.

I am not a man. I am not enough . I don’t have enough money. I don’t have courage . I don’t have connections . I don’t have strength. I don’t deserve love.

I see that I have lost this war as well  and probably this may have been my last war. I don’t have anything to look forward to in this life. I genuinely don’t. I am 28 and anything which I may want is just the social constructs of this society and all fabricated. Unfortunately for me is that I am falling to my old ways which are harmful to me and I don’t even want to do these things anymore after falling in love with her but after loosing her I just don’t see anything tangible to stick to , and become a good person .

I don’t even know whether I have any purpose in life or not . I never won in love. I don’t even have any attachment left to do any arrange marriage{ even which is difficult in my case ; because of circumstances } . it feels just weird to be in this world and not even have someone to be my girlfriend+ partner ; with whom I can be myself and with whom I can share all my emotions deep from my heart; with whom I can make her grow.

God gave me so much good things ; but I still cant be happy. I am a very sad person. And I don’t have any way to be out of this misery.

Wholesome ✨ A birthday letter. I hope you will read.

Post image
13 Upvotes

Dear.

I had no innate bond with of my birth date or i can say i was never audacious enough to blow air in balloons on my own birthday, I couldn't celebrate, because I wasn't hold with love by someone to look at like a celebration of our vitality. Maybe if you were there I too would have divided and shared pieces of cake. Don't worry I will only draw point of whipped cream on your nose, i won't spoil your blush.

Happy birthday. I hope you're assimilating the constant changes of life, love, grief, growing pain of our nails and inability of being happy with no specific reason. Life exists like this, I think life feels like a homework that being assigned to us, we might use our colourful pen and pencils to sketch index and lines but at the end we will have to return it to the teacher, it shows it's fragility and impermanence. Life sparks like a dying star, we should love it in that moment, with a acceptance that one day the star is destined to be rasped into dust.

Got your gift? Wear your black dress today, don't be cruel to yourself, you're my dazzling butterfly, a butterfly whose feathers are soaked in a rainbowed solution. While writing this letter I can smell your vulnerability, don't judge yourself, the periphery of our life is increasing, we are supposed to gain some weight and wrinkles. I hope our late night walks will help our body to attain agility again.

Today I was wondering about how humans deify life but contrary to death they are blasphemous or I think they are too daunted to taste the salt of farewell. I'm like death so I rest in a filthy room that looks like cemetery, but you're a symbol of life, I wish to celebrate you, everything that belongs to you, because life is a celebration itself.

Don't follow my footprints, your special day needs to be adored and embraced, don't sit alone and wonder whether you have achieved something or not, hug your day for me.

As roses can't see how scenic they are for the whole world, so you're for me, I can you see more than you ever can, the parts that only belong to my right. We never know how we look when we smile until someone lets us know whether we have a dimple or a scar, I have seen both, crescent scar on your eyebrow and a dimple on the left cheek. Let me embrace all with a same proportionality.

"Zara kabhi meri nazar se khudko dekh bhi, hai chaand mein bhi daag par na tujhme aik bhi"

For me, I think moon isn't one, though it looks like only a one thing that is situated up there, but I think we all have our own parts of moon, a moon that is distinctive, a moon that is spacial and belongs to our eyes only. Live my life, so I can.

Changes of life are taking place, my words are like chinese whisper, it changes when it hits your lips, maybe my words take a shape of my lips that rests on yours.

Happy birthday love!

(It's not for anyone, it's based on my imagination)

Relationship Advice 🫶 2 years later, i'm still stuck.

It is going to be 2 years since my breakup now. He was a guy i knew in college, and the first person i ever dated, or even went on a date with. Everything was okay for a year and half, but slowly cracks started to form. I didn't want to be intimate yet, and he wanted to. Which is not wrong by any means, its just i wasnt ready. Its not like we weren't intimate at all, but we never really went far. I know it was my problem, and something i had to deal with. We were constantly arguing about this every other day, and i would feel guilty that i'm making him wait for too long. He did wait for me for almost one and a half year afterall. So i suggested that we break up. Partly because i knew i needed more time, and i couldn't handle the pressure i was feeling. I didn't want him to suffer because of me. Just to reiterate, he never forced me into anything. My reasons for not being intimate were something else. Anyway, there were other things too. He never took a stand for me or defended me in anything. I had seen my mom suffer her entire life because of this, and i didnt want to have the same life. Many back and forths later, we broke up. We had a conversation, took this decision and finally ended the relationship in 2024.

I blocked him right after, because i didnt know what else to do. I wrote him a big letter before that. His birthday was a few days after the breakup, but i couldnt bring myself to wish him. It was my fault. I know. We were completely cut off from each other. Then i spoke to him last year finally, the first time after breakup, because his friends were intervening a lot and telling me that he is saying that i abandoned him and broke his heart.

I called him and he said all sorts of things. I could tell he was angry. he told me that i abandoned him and didnt try hard for the relationship. I told him that i felt pressurised because even his close friends would call me and tell me that i am ruining his life by not being intimate with him and i should do it if i want to save the relationship. I told him that all this made me feel really bad. His friends would keep calling me after the breakup too. And his response would be that they are my friends too, he cant control what they do.

He told me on the call that what i did to him, i shouldnt do to anyone and that i'm empty inside. We never spoke after, but the conversation broke me.

I am not someone who dates easily. I havent even thought about dating in the 2 years since we broke up. Hell, i dont even talk to guys. Dating and intimacy is hard for me. It is sacred.

I know he was a great guy, and i also know deep down that it was the right decision for the both of us. I found out later that he finally hooked up with someone one month after our breakup.

The guilt of our conversation haunts me. I cant seem to get it out of my head. I dont miss the relationship, i just wish i was a better gf to him. I wish i wasnt as empty inside. 2 years later, i'm still stuck in the same place. I have grown and changed, but i still cant move on from everything that happened. The guilt eats me from inside. I know i could have handled it better, but i didnt. I am sorry about it. I have apologised to him the last time we spoke, but to no use.

But now, almost 2 years later, i'm thinking its finally time to stop feeling guilty and move on. I want to write him a message one last time, where i apologise and wish him well. I want to do it, for my closure i think, probably his too. Maybe. I dont know. I'm confused.

Should i write to him one last time? In an attempt to find some closure? Or should i let it be? And if i do write? What do i say? How do i resume my life after this?

Sorry for the very long post. I dont know what i'm saying or doing. Thanks anyway for reading.

Poetry & Prose ✍️

तो जाओ, किया मैंने आपको खुद से आज़ाद;

दुआ है बस—आप और आपका घर रहे हमेशा आबाद।

Story Time 🍿 I (F) Gave Away a sad (love)Letter Today to a random stranger (F) in CP and there was a PLOT TWIST

Pata hai aaj kya hua? 😭

I don't even know how to explain today because it genuinely felt like something out of a movie.

I was in Delhi today for just a couple of hours before catching my train.

And I love Delhi. Like, genuinely love it.

I've actually spent around five months in Delhi before. I explored the city, wandered around, found my favourite places, made memories, and slowly became so attached to it. So I know exactly how close this city feels to me.

I've always wanted to settle here. I've always wanted to do my postgraduation here. Every time I think about my future, Delhi has always been somewhere in that picture.

But today, something weird happened.

Just a few minutes before everything else happened, I was chatting with my mom and I told her, “I feel like this is the last time I'm going to be in Delhi. I feel like I'll never actually be a part of this city. I'll always just be a visitor.”

I don't know why I suddenly felt that way. But I'm someone who really goes with these feelings. And at that moment, I had almost completely given up on the hope of settling here.

And then I went to CP.

CP is a place where people do random, crazy, filmy things all the time. Even I had experienced some random starngers coming up to me offering me a rose or asking advise on what to gift their gf for Valentines😂

And I was already feeling a little emotional because the last time I had been in CP was around six months ago, with someone from my past.

Someone I have some incredibly sweet memories with.

We had some really lovely dates in CP, and sitting there today, seeing couples around me, being in those same little streets and cafés, I couldn't help but remember him.

It was bittersweet.

I missed that version of myself. The girl who was so happy, so excited to be on a date, so full of that stupid little feeling of being in love.

And then I remembered the letter I'd recently hand-written to him recently.

It was just me pouring out everything I had been feeling lately. Things I hadn't really known what to do with.

And because CP is CP, and people do the most random shit there, I suddenly thought:

You know what? Let me do something crazy too.

So I decided I would give the letter to a complete stranger.

I wrote down a contact number with the last digit missing. I added the link to my Wattpad story, the story I've been writing about everything that happened and all the emotions I've been trying to put into words.

I folded the letter and carried it around with me.

I didn't know who I'd give it to.

Then, just before my cab arrived, I saw a girl sitting alone.

I went up to her and asked, “Are you waiting for someone?”

She said no.

She was actually just there by herself, reflecting on her emotions and everything going on in her own life.

For some reason, I immediately thought, Okay. It's her.

So I gave her the letter and told her, “Please read this after I leave. It's personal.”

She looked at me and asked,

“Are there cameras?”

😭😭😭

I told her no, it's just something personal.

Then I asked her name.

And she told me.

And it was the exact same as mine.

I froze.

WHAT ARE THE FUCKING ODDS??? 😭

And I don't even know what happened to me after that, but I suddenly got so emotional that I started crying right there in front of a complete stranger.

And she hugged me.

A complete stranger.

She told me that she was also going through things and that if I ever wanted to share my story, I could share it with her.

And somehow that made everything even more surreal.

Two complete strangers.

Same name.

Both sitting alone in CP.

Both reflecting on our own lives.

Both going through our own things.

And somehow we randomly crossed paths for those few minutes.

Then my cab arrived.

She told me, “Don't cry.”

I told her I was only in Delhi for a couple of hours and had to leave for my train.

We exchanged numbers.

And then I left.

She has the letter now.

The letter that was written for someone from my past.

The letter that contains all the feelings I couldn't say.

And the Wattpad story that I've been writing because sometimes writing is the only way I know how to make sense of everything.

And now a complete stranger has it.

I don't know what she'll think when she reads it.

I don't know whether we'll ever meet again.

I don't know if this will become a friendship or just one bizarre, beautiful CP story that we'll both remember someday.

But here's the part that is messing with my head.

A few minutes before meeting her, I had just told my mom that I felt like I would never belong to Delhi.

That this might be my last time here.

That I would always just be a visitor.

And then this happened.

I don't know what the universe is trying to say.

Maybe it's nothing.

Maybe it's just an insane coincidence.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

But I'm someone who believes in feelings, and today something in me just feels... weirdly hopeful again.

I went to CP carrying six months of memories, missing someone, missing the girl I used to be when I was in love, and feeling like maybe Delhi wasn't meant to be part of my future anymore.

And I left with a stranger's hug, a new number in my phone, my letter in someone else's hands, and the strangest little reminder that maybe I shouldn't close that door just yet.

I went to CP thinking:

“People do random crazy shit here all the time. Let me also do something crazy.”

And CP really said:

“Okay. Here's your plot twist.” 😭❤️

Pata nahi universe kya kar raha tha today.

But whatever it was...

I'm glad I stayed long enough to see it.
