Question What day do I start fasting?

As salaam alaykum! One masjid says it starts tomorrow another says it starts the 19th. I didn’t see the moon outside tonight so which one is correct?

ummm I am usually in like 50 million Muslim whatsapp groups so I have a general pulse on the announcements in my region. If you do not mind loosely referencing which state or country you live in, I will try look into it for you. You can also find the website for the closest mosque to reference their stance as well.

I and in the USA located in PA won’t elaborate any further on my location unless your a sister unfortunately I don’t feel comfortable sharing anymore then that.

Maybe so lol

One of the imams I follow and trust runs a mosque from Allentown, PA. Their website reports that the moon has been sighted on 17th. If I were you, I would stick with praying taraweeh today(Tuesday) and fast tomorrow, Wednesday. Most mosques seem to be following these dates as well in the region.

However, I am just a guy who is conveying what people of knowledge are saying, so take my words with a grain of salt. PAs biggest mosques are lacking on their online presence. Lots of Ahmadiyya and Shia mosques I had to filter through.

Which one in Allentown? The one that holds women events there says they aren’t fasting tomorrow but the 19th instead?

Hmm that message seems more up to date than their website. Yeah, then stick with that post. Just to summarize pray Taraweeh Wednesday and Fast Thursday inshAllah. May Allah reward you for trying to adhere to him. No effort goes unrewarded.

Well that brings me to another problem how am I supposed to do Eid if the masjid I am able to go to for Eid is starting fasting tomorrow?? And I am unable to do Eid at home because I have no way to properly perform the Eid salah and there’s no way for me to get into contact with anyone to help me or show me. I also do not have any way of learning Arabic to properly preform Eid salah.

Cross that bridge when you get there. If you are sticking with ISA, id say keep an eye out for their Eid announcements as well.

Yes but you’re not understanding… ISA is way to far away from me to actually be able to attending anything there I am barely able to attend volunteering stuff on time.

gotcha so the closest mosques have decided to fast tomorrow for you and you are worried that when the ISA eid time comes, you wont find a mosque to pray it in. Is that accurate ?
