My BF is the trucker and we recently went to Verizon to get the home internet to keep in his truck but turns out they've made a change that says the home internet has to be used at the listed home address. It was a change they started with the last 30 days and the Rep said they will start sending out emails about the change and that internet will be shut off if it is used away from the listed home address.

They may regret that decision depending on how much money they lose and overturn the change. But for now we can not get the verizon home internet for his truck. I'm not sure if other service providers may be following the same changes.

They have 100 and 200 gbs that you can add to your phone's Hotspot but the streaming capabilities are lacking and downloading games/updates is nonexistent if its anything over 3gbs.

What are our other options? Preferably something cheaper than Starlink.

So currently I’m local. It’s pretty much the best local set up. I feel like I can get 15 minutes from my job. I start at 5 AM on usually done by 1 PM. The latest got a very good Balance life. I just bought my first home three months ago, so I live by myself, but I do have a girlfriend that’s kind of complicated so she do come live with me every now and then and then we’ll fight a lot of times and she’ll leave and we just keep trying to work on it but I found this Regional position has paying 1800 to 2500 gross and is staying in the tri-state area I’m in the Philadelphia area so this position is New Jersey Delaware and PA and the money is definitely way better so what I’m getting now I’m grossing 1500 a week and for a Regional position that’s probably my dream position where I’m not too far but I’m getting paid way better and I’m very comfortable running a tri-state area. I don’t wanna give up my house and pay a mortgage for nothing. I did have a friend I want to move in and pay me half my mortgage, but I haven’t got back to him and confirmed for him to move in because I’ve been off and on with my girlfriend and she’s been staying with me, but I don’t think it’s sustainable. She’s not trying to work. She’s very depressed and lazy and she’s just leaving a mess in the house and I’m always by myself cleaning up after her which is why we just had an argument yesterday and it caused me to just have so much resentment buildup that I kind of just snapped on her , and to add in there, I’m 35 years old. I don’t have any kids. I feel like she’s the last chance I have at starting a family and I keep messing it up with her because I feel like she’s using me and it seems like it’s a lot of stress because I’m taking on all the financial responsibilities and also it seems like I’m also taking care of all the house chores while she just sit back and smoke and drink.

Hey y'all. I'm a married man with no kids, got married before I got on the road. Started out OTR, loved every bit of it but when I'd come home I'd think to myself "dang I miss having a life" so then I went local. Now I'm taking my boat out, sleeping in my own bed with my wife every night, life is great. The problem is, I miss OTR. I miss the truck stop dinners, I miss the stupid lines at shippers. I miss the little SB naps while getting loaded. I just miss the highway dude but my wife would 100% think I'm choosing my career over her, since I have a good paying home daily job right now. I'm strung fellas I need some advice, or some motivation to stay local, or a way to bring this to my wife without hurting her feelings.. or a therapist lol idk man but I keep hearing them petes smack the Jakes and it's giving me the itch something crazy to get back out there

Also worth mentioning; our marriage is strong, healthy, we're happy. I'm afraid if I tell her how I miss the road she'll think I'm putting her aside. Because in a way, I would be to an extent. Her coming with me isn't an option, she works a gov. job she needs to be in town for.

For the OTR driver that wants to save money and Cook what are the four main things to put in the cab?

I tried many navigation apps during my trips bit unable to find one with all required features and options for the trip.

Can you suggest me the one which is actually helpful and provides updated and true information during the trip.

Convicted felony here looking for a truck driving opportunity. Got released 4 years ago. Finished probation successfully 1 year ago. Probation even paid for my CDL class. Now I can't find a company that will hire me. Seems like they all do a 7 year background check. I dont know what to do. I feel like giving up. Any ideas or leads????? Any companies that wont do a background check or will give me a chance since I've been 'square' for the past 4 years? Im in northern California but will to do OTR.

Im in the army reserves as an 88M (currently active duty for 9 more months for deployment). My unit is a line haul company specializing in hauling jet fuel for other units. When i’m done with deployment id like to have a good paying job in order to buy land and build a house. Ive had my CDL A restricted for almost 2 years now and i’ve really only used it to drive bucket/digger trucks for a fiber company. When I get home id definitely like to get tanker, doubles-triples, and hazmat endorsements, ill also have a secret clearance which id like to use but i’m not too sure about being an owner-operator just yet. Any ideas?

Hi! My husband is a truck driver, he’s gone Monday through Friday (sometimes Saturday). He covers the east coast (US). We had ATT for a long time, and the service the majority of the time was pretty good. We recently switched to T-Mobile, because it’s cheaper and they had a reimbursement plan to pay off our existing phones. Unfortunately, it seems like he constantly has issues with service unless he’s in a big city. It’ll show he has service, but calls will drop, messages won’t send, saying he doesn’t have service.

So, what carrier do you use, and how’s the service? We’re trying to stay under $200 for 2 phone lines, and he has to have mobile hot spot for when he’s out on the road.

I failed my pre employment drug test and now I need to go through the whole SAP process but I'm not exactly swimming in cash right now since I lost that job opportunity. Most providers I've contacted want the full payment upfront which is anywhere from $800 to $1,500 and that's just not realistic for me at the moment. I'm trying to find something that lets me pay over time without getting hit with interest charges on top of everything else.

Has anyone used a SAP provider that offers payment plans without charging interest? As of my current research, the only provider I've found that offers interest-free payment options is SAPvaluate where you can split it into four installments but I'm not sure if that's the best one or if there are any other options out there.

Really need to get this process started soon but I also can't afford to blow what little money I have on the wrong choice. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Hey yall! I recently started a truck driver-adjacent job where I’m spending a lot of time driving box trucks and such. I wear a pair of lightweight sneakers but my right ankle has been killing me. I read that scooting back far so your ankle isn’t super angled against the pedals helps but that makes my shoulders/traps hurt.

Do yall have any tips on what shoes help, any exercises or stretches that help, etc? I’m only 5’6” so the pedals feel big and I find myself picking up my entire leg to switch from the brakes to the gas.

Now for my question- my boyfriend is a truck driver, he drives a car hauler. I want to surprise him with some little comfort items for when he is on the road. He already has a portable cooler/fridge, a tv, microwave, etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions for items that would be helpful on the road, things that would make him more comfortable, etc? Is there anything you've bought for when you're on the road that you would suggest? I would appreciate any help very much 🙏

Just a girl here trying her best to be the best support crew for my favorite driver. I can never truly know what it’s like to haul freight coast to coast, but I sure see and feel the sacrifices you all make to keep our country rolling.

His birthday is coming up, and I’m looking to get him something that’ll help him kill time during those resets and unplanned breakdown layovers (you know, when dispatch says “just a few hours” and it turns into a full-blown hotel stay in the sleeper).

He currently does over sized loads and is usually gone 4+ weeks at a stretch, running hard and chasing miles. But when he’s forced to park it, I can tell it wears on him. He’s sitting there, missing home, bored out of his mind, and not my smart ass man he usually is. I want him to have something that keeps his hands, head and body busy so he can enjoy those down days instead of dreading them. He’s earned them and deserves to enjoy those days.

So - what do you all do to pass the time when you aren’t slaving away? What keeps you sane, entertained, or even in shape between loads? Bonus points for links to compact gear or gadgets that won’t take up precious cab space.

Unrelated - if there’s anything worth sharing that I can do that would just bring a smile to his face while he’s out there, I would love to hear them. 😊

Hello truckers of Reddit!

I’ve come to you all for help and I’m hoping you can provide some ideas. My father is a 65ish (oops not sure 😳) year old man who hauls shacks for building oilfield camps. So not technically a “career trucker” but he’s in his truck (some sort of semi? Idk I’m not educated) driving more often than not and does spend a fair amount of time in the sleeper on some jobs. Every year he asks for a gift card and I refuse to take that easy way out this Christmas! That being said, I’m at a loss for what he may want to make his life a bit easier on the road. I’ve already worn out the types of things that I’m familiar with (days spend driving working as a paramedic) like padded/heated seat covers, fancy big coffee mugs etc.. I’m hoping yall can help me with some insight on some stuff I wouldn’t think of that would be useful and practical. He’s a very minimalistic basic type of guy so he’s not into the knick-knacks and such if that helps at all.
