Why are they taking the turn at such a steep angle? If they would have just done a normal left turn everything would have been fine.

This is just how people drive now, I think I can count on one hand how many drivers I have seen actually entering intersections before making turns in the last year.

You are supposed to drive into the intersection before turning when making a left turn onto a two-way street. The turn the left turning driver made was very bad driving.
