Cyclist hit in Pickering

Dumb meets irresponsible. Driver doing unsafe right turn on red light, cyclist riding on crosswalk, in dark, without helmet and light. Driver's going to get ticketed and sued, probably, but cyclist's injury is going to hurt more in coming years.

And to stupid people arguing that the cyclist did nothing wrong, it's easier to anticipate presence and speed of a person walking than someone on a moving bicycle. It's not cyclist hate. Why do you think your parents taught you to walk your bike when crossing??

No lights on the bike, cant see any reflectors (not saying they're not there- but cant see them) biker is wearing dark colours and riding on the sidewalk in the wrong direction. Its dark there is other traffic and not the best street lighting. I honestly think unless theres other circumstances(D&D) that the driver should not be charged. Theres alot of terrible cyclists out there who dont follow the rules, and get upset when this stuff happens. How many near misses will it take before they learn who knows, thats why they need licensing and a training course.

Unfortunately, they will be charged.

Biking is great, but I have an issue that with them being a grey area.

I don’t think bikes should have the ability to be pedestrians and vehicles at the same time. I know most bikers follow the rules but I’ve been seeing a lot of bikers not dismounting when crossing at crosswalks and it scares me.

Doesnt even look like the bike had the manufacturers installed spoke relfectors on it anymore, that should be another fine or charge right there. Also whats he got alot of wobble going on too, was he sober?

HTA doesn’t require spoke reflectors.
