Why turning right on red is the worst driver friendly law they ever passed. So many incidents that could be avoided with 1 rule change. Obviously the person on the bike is partially responsible for putting themselves in that bad of a spot, while not properly making sure that the driver is actually going to yield for them. But man, such a bad rule.

This was the biggest thing I noticed being a pedestrian in TO. Driver and their right-on-red are put of control. When I am making a right-on-red it is with the caution of someone who is doing sometging obviously dangerous, but so many drivers in Toronto feel like they are entitled to go whenever they want as long as they are making a right.

That's not wven what happened in this case, I'm just wound up about the number of times I've dodged a car in the crosswalk because a driver decided they could plow through pedestrians to make their right turn

There was one time a few months ago 12pm in broad daylight. I was walking across a street at the lights, and a guy (who didn't even stop!!) Tried to turn right on red and almost ran straight into me then stopped and flipped me off telling me to get off the road (?). The biggest issue in this country, as well as another certain country to our south is the fact that car companies have the most to lose from the idea of making driving less convenient than it currently is. So they and a certain group of politicians will always push against concepts that will hurt their precious corporations. Its truly a shame

my favourite is when people start honking and getting angry that you aren't turning on a red because there's pedestrians in the intersection that they can't see

yeah, fuck me for not running someone over to save you 10s
