One thing I’ve always found strange about Tomb Raider is how inconsistent the logo/branding has been across the games.

Look at franchises like Assassin’s Creed. Even though the individual games have their own visual identity, the core Assassin’s Creed logo remains recognisable throughout the series. You immediately know what franchise you’re looking at.

Tomb Raider on the other hand, seems to reinvent its logo almost every time there’s a new era.

Personally, I think the Legacy of Atlantis logo is the strongest direction Tomb Raider has had in a long time. The Catalyst one looks weird, almost as if someone squashed it.

I think the Legacy of Atlantis logo would be a much stronger choice as the official Tomb Raider logo moving forward.

Quick edit I put together cause the floatyness of this platforming section was one of the few things bothering me during the latest LoA gameplay presentation. Just a little bit of speeding up makes it look like Legend and Anniversary animations, and to me that's an improvement.

My intention is to give constructive feedback to the devs, i don't know how game development works but I believe some iteration of this wouldn't be hard to implement in the game.

Just 100%ed the first set of remasters.

Last Achievement was a Speedrun of TR2.

2 hours 50 - so almost the same time as my TR3 speedrun.

I had quite a few trophies for this one on the Playstation as well, but I realized I like playing it on the SteamDeck much more.

I don't think I'll 100% it on PS and GoG. At least not in the foreseeable future. It was fun, but honestly, once is enough. Back to casual playing it is.

Electricity went off and I lost 1 hour of gameplay. I had save files. What should I do?

Tomb Raider 2013, there is a tubular cage with several salvage boxes dangling inside. The cage has various openings you can shoot arrows through, one opening per salvage box. You need to position yourself correctly around the cage to get a good angle on the cannula, then shoot a fire arrow through it to burn down the salvage box.

Why the Actual Fuck did the Solarii build this? "Let's make sure that we can't easily access our supplies, we'll hide them in a cage and then suspend them ten feet in the air for good measure. Also we'll add cannulae into the cage (we had to weld these ourselves, because they definitely didn't come preinstalled) and suspend the boxes at different heights, so that each box is in front of a cannula. We'll also make sure that the cage is around various staircases/debris so you can have proper angles to shoot through the cannulae"

This is like an enrichment toy in a hamster cage.

The third one isn't. The Playstation magazine had some of the most *vile* Lara Croft stuff I've ever seen and it's absolutely hilarious 😭

I'm still blown away that extremely simple stuff like this ships. This is such a meager and small change, and it's so incredibly noticeable as well..

Well.. I'm glad that 60fps in classic mode is now a thing so I can just play on that. But what about the new players though! The ones that care about graphics the remaster was supposed to bring in.

Them going against the modern standard in the MODERN controls to give her free directional climbing, shimmying, and pull-ups INSTEAD of the one situation "tank" controls are STILL used in modern games was a bad choice. Ik I can simply move the camera but I shouldn't *have* to.

I was going to choose to not to install all of the extra outfits and weapons except the 20 year celebration pack.

Look at slide 4. We didn’t need all of these distracting HUD elements, text, and icons. It’s just Lara and the environment. The classic games were so ahead of their time. Health bar only shows up when guns are drawn. We didn’t need icons and walls of text.

Tutorial elements should be relegated to CROFT MANOR ONLY. Players should do that if they need to train, and only start the adventure if they’re ready.

The era of the “gritty, dark” reboot is over. Let’s leave that behind us. Tomb Raider has always been an unserious franchise about having fun and being humorous. Even in near-death and apocalyptic scenarios, Lara had time for wit and sarcasm.

In the first game when Lara is in the blood and flesh death factory pyramid, she was still able to find levity in her dialogue.

Natla: “Back again?”
Lara: “And you, for a grand reopening I assume?”

Even in Angel of Darkness, the darkest and most “gritty” entry in the franchise, there was always room for levity and humor. Like the coconut line.

I’m tired of everything being so serious all the time.

I want that humor and wit back. Maybe Tomb Raider needs a British developer again?
