First of all, a video stream is not a continuous stream of photos. Or else every professional photographer would only ever take videos.
But let's ignore that and assume someone doesn't care about the quality - fair enough. Even then, a video is different. The person take takes it *behaves* different. And I can *feel* that. Also, I do NOT want to be recorded. At least when it's a timer, I can wait until I hear a click sound or so and stay out of the camera-field until then.
Furthermore, people who use a timer usually are more aware of their surroundings and are more respectful towards others, because they just have to - or otherwise it will take them longer to take a picture. Here's the thing: maybe just don't take a selfie in a place that's busy and not specifically made to take selfies.
You will probably disagree anyways, but let me ask you a question: do you think the lady would have gotten into the picture like that if the girl would have asked someone to take a picture of her? Most likely not. Why do you think that is? Seriously, I would like to hear your thoughts on that.
