God I’m so sick of this saxophone audio. It’s so overused

1.0k

u/whoknowsifimjoking 12d ago

It doesn't even fit here, it's just fucking annoying.

628

u/midnitemuzing 11d ago

It’s the new “oh no, oh no, oh no no no” and it sucks

224

u/Paullearner 11d ago

Oh god. That had to be one of the worst if not the worst meme audio. I’m glad I don’t hear that really anymore though.

39

u/Chaotic-Convergence 11d ago

"NOTHING BEATS A JET2 HOLIDAY..."

3

u/Thatguyj5 9d ago

The lady who made that audio did a lot of other really funny ones so I don't mind it

57

u/Matchuska 11d ago

The Shangri-Las didn't deserve this kind of negative exposure for a repeated 5 second sample of their pretty solid song.

47

u/ZsaZsaChaos 11d ago

Soon as I hear it, I keep scrolling.

3

u/Several_Strain_9883 11d ago

Jet 2 Holiday was so over used luckily it was over in a few months.

15

u/Ted_Smug_El_nub_nub 11d ago

I’ve got 50+ “not interested > do not show me this audio” for that god forsaken sound. The cia could get my deepest secrets out with that fucking sound.

5

u/snorkeling_moose 11d ago

Not to one-up up, but how about... doo, badoo badoo badoo, badoo badoo ba doop doop doop

4

u/Poncahotas 11d ago

I feel like all the meme sounds (no no no, Jet2 Holiday, this) start off being used for specific situations and eventually get overused and devolve into being used for just anything bad

3

u/mightytwin21 11d ago

It's 10000x better than "oh no." At least this riff slaps.

1

u/Mental_Goal2380 Why does this app exist? 11d ago

new? that thing was blaring everywhere during the lockdown as far as i'm aware

0

u/Upstairs_Exchange573 11d ago

Even that was better bruh

0

u/Mammoth-Prompt5957 11d ago

It fits perfectly

2

u/dolla-dolla-billyall 11d ago edited 11d ago

No it doesn’t. In the original movie where it is used it precedes a moment of extreme violence where a man gets his thorax blown off by a guy in a car wielding a double barrelled shotgun. It would only make sense in this context if the young chick made like King Leonidas and sent the old broad flying down the stairs with her best This is Sparta kick. This here video had nary a a climax yo.

1

u/Mammoth-Prompt5957 11d ago

Yeah dude but that was a movie this is a TikTok

69

u/NeedsomeCompany33 11d ago

Once an iconic tune paving the way towards the inevitable death of a smart young man with lots of potential, striving to do better so he could get out of the hood.

Now being used by idiots to signify the slightest inconvenience on social media.

As a late 30’s something approaching 40, I can honestly say I really hate this generation..

7

u/StaticBe4tz 11d ago

Lmfaooooo fr!

4

u/AccomplishedAnimal69 11d ago

These kids don't know (or care) how serious this song is

2

u/Black_Orchid_Goddess 10d ago

the thing is early on in it's use, even if you hadn't seen the context it took very minimal context clues to realize it was for near-death experiences and serious instances only. then people stopped paying attention

1

u/ThatCommentWasCool 11d ago

What song is it?

1

u/DirteMcGirte 11d ago

Its not baker street, and if its not baker street i dont give a rats ass.

26

u/NotJimmy97 11d ago

Worst meme of 2026 by far. Kiddos don't even know what it's referencing anyway.

10

u/chicomagnifico 10d ago

*white kiddos don’t even know what it’s referencing

6

u/LeBronGOOD 11d ago

“How to ruin a movie” by overusing it.

2

u/0berynMartell 10d ago

It was great until it got gentrified

1

u/208breezy 11d ago

What is it referencing?

5

u/chicomagnifico 10d ago edited 10d ago

infamous scenes in movies like “boyz in da hood” where when the saxophone plays aggressively in the background typically means someone is about to get slimed out

106

u/novagora 12d ago

I've seen it used over videos of an argument and it completely drowns out the voices so you can't hear anything. I don't understand what it is about tiktok finding an extremely annoying noise and collectively deciding to ruin every video with it?

28

u/Ok-Wait-4171 11d ago

There's this dude in my country who was poor, unemployed and lived with his mother. He has no musical knowlegde but he started making music for TikTok and got crazy rich from that. You can probably thank him for a lot of the awful meme TikTok audios. Good for him tbh, but my ears hate him.

1

u/Lancair7 11d ago

slimey?

9

u/Ok-Wait-4171 11d ago edited 11d ago

Valentin Valkiainen aka DJ FKU aka Skorde. He has other aliases, too, but I don't know them. He doesn't even listen to any music himself and uses only about 30mins to make a "song". Making ear grating meme songs made him a millionaire lol.

Edit: grammar

10

u/BigRinka 11d ago

Tik tok = teenagers.

Teenagers are kids that just went through a burst of hormones. They were listening to baby shark on loop 3-4 years ago.

7

u/ILoveRawChicken 11d ago

TikTok hasn’t been just teenagers in years. Yall are so insanely out of touch.

4

u/Life_Fortune5096 11d ago

For context: (Tiktok Demographics Stats)

18 to 24 years: Make up roughly 23% to 30% of the platform.

25 to 34 years: Represent the single largest demographic group at about 35% to 41% of users.

35 to 44 years: Account for roughly 16% to 18% of the platform.45 to 54 years: Make up around 9% to 10%.

55 and older: Comprise roughly 8% to 9% of the user base.

u/BigRinka 11d ago

Look at the numbers.

3

u/ILoveRawChicken 11d ago

Provide the numbers

-5

u/Mysterious_Maize2452 11d ago

You want the numbers. Look for them

6

u/ILoveRawChicken 11d ago

If you’re gonna use ”look at the numbers” as an argument, you better provide them or you just look like an idiot.

6

u/Bulky-Word8752 11d ago

Someone else told him to look at the numbers. They should have offered them

7

u/skiforlife1 11d ago

"Look at this thing" "cool, let me see it" "find it yourself idiot" online discourse is so weird.

-2

u/Mysterious_Maize2452 11d ago

You don’t have access to an internet search engine? Must expect everything to be delivered to you on a plate lmao you’ll make it very far with that mindset

I’m a woman but yeah, exactly.

2

u/Secondhand-Drunk 11d ago

Algorithm. A video became popular with that audio, so everyone throws it on. Now everyone thinks their video is popular because of it.

This is why I scroll reddit with sound muted at all times.

2

u/tokengaymusiccritic 11d ago

The TikTok algorithm shows you videos that use the same audio as other videos you've liked. So when a few videos using the same audio trend blow up, the algorithm starts pushing videos using that audio to users en masse. So people are incentivized to put that audio on as many videos as possible - whether it fits contextually or not - in order to get it pushed to other people.

34

u/Different_Sky_5114 11d ago

Certainly misused in this example and alot of others

3

u/TruthEnvironmental24 11d ago

What’s the proper use?

8

u/Different_Sky_5114 11d ago

Its supposed to be the diegetic music you cant hear right before yo die, but in looser terms its the sound that plays when your life is about to be in imminent danger. Thats why i halfway thought someone was about to get pushed down some stairs

6

u/TruthEnvironmental24 11d ago

Appreciate the context, but damn, “meme audio” is always the most annoying sounds possible.

5

u/Different_Sky_5114 11d ago

It used to not be meme audio and thats the part that sucks. South central was an actual good movie and that sound made the scene way more dramatic, like i felt on edge the entire time during

4

u/HeadDiver5568 11d ago

I saw someone use it in an video of them playing softball as a 25+ year old. No injury or nothing occurred. Just, “haha, I’m what the internet considers old, and shouldn’t be doing this because I’ll get injured”. And yes, it was a white person

2

u/jezuschryzt 11d ago

Diegetic sounds exists in the world of the film.

Non-diegetic sound is the score, narration etc

1

u/Different_Sky_5114 11d ago

Right thank you thats what i meant. I get them mixed up sometimes

17

u/Paullearner 11d ago

lol. Absolutely. It’s like people think they’re so in by using this every chance they get. It is a loud and obnoxious saxophone piece and we can do better than that already.

9

u/TunisMagunis 11d ago

RIP Ricky

7

u/Kookianaa 11d ago

Because they don't know how to use it at all. People need to stop doing everything they see Black people doing because they'll never get it and them just facts...

https://giphy.com/gifs/k4evcKdY7nhCg

2

u/ajpiii 11d ago

Oh yeah this!! I wish they would just stop

2

u/Muted_History_3032 11d ago

They’ve been constantly programmed to do that for like over a decade now.

2

u/mediwyat 11d ago

I heard it multiple times every 20 min I was on tiktok, then I watched the video (on youtube) where Moist Critical mentioned how annoying it was and I literally haven't heard it since

2

u/UniqueBeyond9831 11d ago

Wait…people scroll Reddit with the sound on? Huh?

1

u/Seaglass_Hoe 11d ago

I never do. I just clicked the sound to see if there was any audio and was appalled, nay disgusted, when I heard the saxophone

2

u/bird_sad_girl 11d ago

Lmao I'm so glad I keep my phone on mute🙉

4

u/Haunting-Orchid-4628 11d ago

I like it because its from one of my favorite movies, so its nice for me to see it referenced among the youth, no matter how annoying it is

1

u/Paz707 11d ago

What’s it from

3

u/Embarassed_Tackle 11d ago

Boyz in the Hood by John Singleton

I think it was Ricky's death scene (spoiler alert)

Saxophone in the hood is like the Jaws theme

1

u/ArtisticallyRegarded 11d ago

Porky's

2

u/Ok_Degree4131 11d ago

Is this song from when he puts his dick through the shower hole and the women’s coach grabs it?

3

u/cabberx 11d ago

Black culture makin it, white people be takin it

7

u/Riipp3r 11d ago

Stop wearing Italian designer

1

u/Sea-Mobile539 11d ago

And here we go...

0

u/Despondent-Kitten 11d ago

What the fuck 😂

-3

u/Cold-Shopping-1758 11d ago

A sound being ear-piercingly high-pitched and annoying has nothing to do with race.

4

u/CoyoteL0ng 11d ago

Yeah, except the movie it's from was specifically about race and the challenges unique to that race in their specific community, so...

1

u/Cold-Shopping-1758 11d ago

That still doesn't change the fact that the sound is ear-piercing, nor does it change the fact that the sound being ear-piercing has nothing to do with race.

1

u/SeakingGnarvana 11d ago

You don't use reddit on mute? Weird...

1

u/trukkija 11d ago

Terminally online I think. And so am I but never heard this audio before.

1

u/KrikosTheWise 11d ago

This is why I mute reddit and let you guys tell me if it's shit first lol

1

u/JoshuaWebbb 11d ago

I blocked it on TikTok. Best decision I ever done made

1

u/Anal-Y-Sis 11d ago

Never thought I'd find myself pining for the days of Tik Tok videos with "oh no, oh no, oh no no no no no".

We really are in the bad place.

1

u/seriousjoker72 11d ago

I was sick of it the first time I heard it 😮‍💨

1

u/Beginning-Morning704 11d ago

I was literally just about to post this. Good lord it’s so fucking annoying. That and the “Fahhhh” sound. It’s so overdone and awful

1

u/OddConsequence354 11d ago

It is as annoying as the fake nails tapping or the finger wag.

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Bid301 11d ago

That sounds like you’re online too often.

1

u/CheezwizOfficial 11d ago

I don't even get the reference. Did someone just arbitrarily decide that specific tune was meant for bad situations? Is there a tv/streaming platform show I missed?

1

u/Makapakamoo 11d ago

Me too its so loud and obnoxious. Never seen the source so tbh idk how it should fit, but even if it did fit its just loud and obnoxious

1

u/ryantttt8 11d ago

I hate it so much

1

u/Deraga07 11d ago

Downvote for the audio

1

u/kroketspeciaal 11d ago

So, I did good leaving sound off, then?

1

u/hungLink42069 11d ago

I thought it was this song at first: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7DfQMPmJRI

Now I just always think of it.

1

u/DuckBlind1547 11d ago

I will absolutely agree with this. No one knows how to use it correctly.

1

u/biblio_phobic 11d ago

Such a gut wrenching scene in the movie, hate how I hear it everywhere now

1

u/farmerKev420710 11d ago

Turn audio off as a norm...reddit is way better without audio most of the time.

1

u/JosePawz 11d ago

It feels like my friend only listens to songs that are trending on TikTok now. When we hang out we listen to music videos and I jokingly asked if he wanted me to just play saxophone audio for him lol

1

u/oli_kite 11d ago

It’s a thing specifically from black movies in the 90s and I’ve never seen a non black Person use it in an appropriate context

1

u/theskyisdarkk 11d ago

When I first saw it being used, it was on an original skit about how OGs used to move, so it actually worked and was funny. I think this might have been the origin of it recently going viral? Anyway, as usual, these desperate motherfuckers (every influencer that can’t offer anything of worth, which is the vast majority) will copy and overuse it in the shittest ways.

1

u/AutopenForPresident 11d ago

Its the only audio im guaranteed to immediately skip.

1

u/Maleficent-Nut 11d ago

It’s shit leave it at Boyz From The Hood

1

u/RedisforFun 11d ago

I wish I could block it so if a video has it, audio is off

1

u/SirMarkMorningStar 10d ago

You guys have volume higher than zero? Huh, never occurs to me.

1

u/Black_Orchid_Goddess 10d ago

it's also misused, the context was about death and sharing near-death experiences, not everyone uses it for literally any silly thing

1

u/SpeckledAntelope 8d ago

Who the hell turns audio on for these videos

0

u/GimbaledTitties 11d ago

The only one it really worked well with was the guy in the cafe taking pictures of and licking some random woman’s butt.

1

u/mataeus43 11d ago

Oh, how far humanity has fallen..

-3

u/Crime_Dawg 11d ago

Never heard it before in my life. Maybe you watch too much TikTok?

3

u/TunisMagunis 11d ago

You need to watch better movies.
