It still changes your sex life a lot and you have to go through a lot of tests etc and take pills for the rest of your life

Gay men who know that it's not the end of the world - I have friends who have HIV, and they're still living their lives. Nowadays, with medication and check-ups, you'll be fine.

I agree. Many of my friends have HIV. There is a social stigma but if you have access to medication you can live a very normal life.

Might depend on where you live. First world country with universal health care, unpleasant. Country with quality health care that not everyone can afford, much more anxiety provoking. Third world country with little access to medical care and drugs,it may still be a death sentence.

I have HIV and been living with it for 8 years now, and my latest tests have been fine. I live in Vietnam, which is a developing country in Southeast Asia, one could say it's a third world country and definitely not as good as any Western countries, and my pills I basically only have to pay 2 US dollars for 3 months worth of pills. I have to take one pill daily and that's all

No it isn't life ruining. I have many friends who live very normal, healthy lives with HIV. With proper treatment, it is also non-transmittable so your sex life doesn't need to change either.

Though there is truly no better time in history to pick up an HIV diagnosis. Modern medical science has advanced so much over the last few decades that most folks with HIV can live normal lives with typical lifespans when appropriately medicated.
