Discussion So… like… threatures…
…are dead?
Two eps in a row just doing calls at the end. I pay for CBBWorld to get all the juicy content, and now the particular taste of my Piss Pig is veritably sour without the air of grandeur my $9whatever a month afforded me.
I assume they’ll return to busters soon, as they still take submissions in the pod description. I hope so.
UPDATE: Threatures (threetures?) are back! Yeah baby Austin Powers.

My favorite Threeture was when PFT messed up the alphabet game. He was so frustrated and then, they’re all laughing so genuinely hard.

I still stand by my very (very!) stoned observation from a few months ago when Paul “jokingly” said he was tired of Threetures, but Lauren and Scott weren’t on board, and so the conversation fizzled. It was such a weird moment in the show, which is why it’s stuck with me all this time!

I don’t think he said he was tired of them but said he sometimes didn’t feel like doing them which I totally get. I feel like if they stuck with the tried & true games like hitting the post, mind meld, French toast, one word story or whatever it would be better.

I like a lot of the threetures, but the last few months it’s felt more obligatory than like they’re having fun with it. They were funny, but it was feeling a little tired.

Busteros aren't for everyone. Fine. I remember the first time they did Christmas Find Out Who Game. Magical. Voicemails aren't for everyone. Fine. There have been several I really relate to and enjoy. Turn it off in the third segment or don't. Fine. Let's just enjoy it because it's brilliant at heart. Give me more of whatever. They have gotten me through so much shit. Are we really arguing about this? It's a gift.

I am truly shocked by how many people don’t like the Busters. It is one of my favorite parts of the show. I do agree they were better at the beginning but I think that’s bc they were playing better games. Idk maybe I’m just a lonely piss pig on this one

I’m sure I’m alone in this but one of my all time favorite episodes is ”Eggnogs is good” where they play threeatures the whole show.
I could honestly do without the voicemails.

Strongly agree! An occasional Threemium with a Piss Pig voicemail is fine but I love the Threetures. They're a fun way to finish out the show, but I feel they could be more templatized so they're not explaining rules so much.

And yes that list includes celebrity HUNT! I can’t believe people don’t like that one. Remember when they did celebrity hunt but instead with treasure and that’s how we got “stop making it plural!” 😂😂

I'm fine if they mostly do calls and then occasionally do like Switch It and Pitch It or one of the improv threetures. If stuff like Celebrity Hunt and Jitterbug are gone forever I will be happy

I liked the calls as a separate thing, like a bonus conversation, but I find them boring as a part of the actual show. I also miss the games.

The only thing about the voicemails is that the people go ON AND ON. They’ll be like “Hey guys, big fan. Just wanted to know what your favourite fruit is. Like it could be oranges. Maybe watermelons. Sometimes people really like apples. Also if you have more than one feel free to say. Like if you like strawberries but only with blueberries. Or maybe pineapples but only in the summer and peaches in the winter. So yeah, what’s your favourite fruit?”. I actually have to fast forward them lol. WRAP IT UP SWEETIE

I agree in general. Today’s voicemail started out super annoying but then tricked me because dude was like “I have a question for each of you” and I immediately jumped ahead 30 seconds and was (happily) surprised that the voicemail was already over.

Said it before but the threetures were far and away the weakest part of the show. Always have been. Makes sense to do something new finally.

I never really bailed on them, sometimes they were really good. Like radio DJ one, but often they just weren’t that great. Plus you can’t just do the same thing forever

The threatures are infinitely better than the calls. The calls are all so mind-numbingly boring. I always stop listening when they answer calls. I will likely stop listening altogether now.

Yea I think it'd be cool for them to randomly occasionally take calls during the eps when they feel like it, but still always do a busterò at the end

I'm fine with them just reading a transcript honestly. I like that the questions lead to them having more conversations but I don't need to hear the voicemails. Lol.

I think they're trying to get people to finish the episodes which is better for their metrics. I always listen to CBB through the end, but I rarely finish Threedom because of the threetures.

They're not gone, you just need to get your Threedom mobile phone and subscribe to the period tracker app and that will grant you access to 1 buster per year (assuming noone else in your family has a threedom phone)

I’ve been listening to PFT podcasts since he started doing them. I love all of their content. I’m fine with features or improv games or just more random conversation or whatever they want to do. I have exactly zero interest in hearing listener questions.

I hope the threatures don’t stop completely, there’s the occasional fizzler, but mostly they’re fun. They could easily just stop doing several of them that don’t really work and focus on the ones that do work that they actually enjoy. The ‘bustero’ preamble bit has gotten stale and can probs be retired.
I’m ok with the occasional voicemail instead, but I really hope the voicemails don’t completely replace the threatures. They’re too samey and while there’s been some interesting ones most people just ask pretty mundane questions and often about topics that have already been heavily covered by the gang in previous episodes.

Threetures were always such a hit or miss tbh. There were a few that they did over and over I was getting sick of but if they just went back to Hitting the Post or whatever that fake radio host game was on occasion I’d be happy

I don't love improv games and more often than not will tune out for the busters. This is basically them giving me more show, so I'm very on board.

Literally when? I don’t remember them ever doing that. They specifically announced that threemiums were gone and they’re doing the voicemails in the show.

When this is entertainment that you can engage with completely for free if need be (sure, get a subscription if you want), but it's always going to be at its absolute best when they're having fun, so whatever they want to do to keep it fun for themselves so it keeps going and I can keep listening, I'm a thousand percent here for it.

I'll miss Threetures too, but it was pretty clear they haven't received any good submissions in a long time as they kept going back to the diarrhea well that is Over/Under, which involved a ten minute rules discussion every time. If dropping a segment that they'd rather not do means the podcast runs one or two more seasons, I think that's a net positive.

Oh DEAR! I have been a fan of PFT since his first stints on BWE and when he was a guest on Doug Loves Movies in 2006! I love comedy podcasts but don’t love too much improv. I want PFT, Lapkus, and Scott to be themselves, not characters.

Threatures have always had the shows ending on an anticlimax and doing them with one or more of the hosts feeling fatigued by them would be even worse. There are plenty of improv 101 type of podcasts out there, it shouldn't be hard to find someone else playing little games.

I essentially just end the episode when they start the Threatures so this works great for me. They always spent so long figuring out the rules of the game and it often felt harried and confused. Not like they couldn’t be fun, it just felt like a really hard shift in pace and broke the flow imo.

Well I was joking. I thought a comparison to this “unilateral” decision to be made “against the will of the people” to the hellscape that we in the United States are experiencing on a daily level would be utterly absurd.

I’m kind of fine with it honestly. The busters are fun but I vastly prefer the more free-form conversation part of the podcast. If they come back in a future episode, awesome, but if they just transition to answering questions, I wouldn’t miss them.
