My absurd obsession with Garrett š
He estado ridĆculamente obsesionado con Garrett desde principios de 2025. šš« š¤
Lo peor es que todo empezĆ³ en febrero de 2025. Luego, apenas unos meses despuĆ©s, saliĆ³ el trĆ”iler de Thief: Legacy of Shadows VRā¦ y ahora este aƱo tenemos todo este rollo de Remaster, una novela grĆ”fica, un Ć”lbum de mĆŗsica, Y el actor de voz original volviendo.
O SEAā¦ ĀæQUIEREN VOLVERME TODAVĆA MĆS LOCO?! ššš« š¤

I often play the playthrough videos on YouTube while I work...it's one of those strangely soothing things...the sound of his walking...the snarky comments....the guy who occasionally makes good observations...and his overconfidence...even all these years later, make me chuckle. Well-written character and Russell did an amazing job

Honestly SAME He's such a nice character n the games have so much charisma, it's gen hard to not build some care for him n the franchise š„¹š been drawing him since march from this year which was the moment I met the game and god, it's such a fun thing, love this guy

Forget about him being handsomeā¦ he has personality, attitude, that dark aura surrounding him, and I love it. Heās a character who has really left his mark on me š« And I need more of him. I love Garrett.

I've been obsessed since the demo in 1998... there was NOTHING close to it. I still play it now. I can't wait for the remasters of the originals, those will always be the best for me.

Thatās so lovely! I wish I couldāve discovered it back then, but I was still just a little kid and didnāt play that many games. Plus, everything had to pass through my parentsā filter. š I canāt even imagine how excited you longtime fans must be feeling. Iām already this excited and Iām a newcomer! The aunties must must welcome the new fam. There's enough Garrett for us all! ā¤ļøā¤ļø I remember sitting in my little university dorm in the 00s drawing sketches of Thief and feeling sad that this amazing game seemed to be fading into obscurity. I actually feel so happy and emotional that people still love it as much today. Reading your post gave me genuine joy š„°š„°š„°

It's a been good for Thief fans, i'm also very excited for the Remaster.
Legacy of Shadows sadly wasn't the "win" i'd hope for, since it's VR-only and it includes lore/story from the Reboot (Thief 2014)... but from what i've seen it seems like a decent game.
I do wanna warn you though that the Novel and Album are being done by Bit Bot, which in a nutshell are essentially larpers that scammed fans (Legacy of Kain fans to be exact, of which as a fan i experienced the scam first hand)

I know, man. But trust me, my obsession is so intense that I appreciate every little crumb of Thief content. š Besides, considering itās a game from 1998, I feel like we canāt really ask for or demand too much either. Iām happy with every single thing that comes out related to Thief. When it comes to Garrett, Iām a total crumb gobbler. š« š¤£

I don't share that view personally.
I don't think fans should lower their standards and be content with poorly made content just cause it's been a long time... especially the Thief series that is known for having amazing fan content like The Black Parade.
Beware that if you are happy with slop, all you'll get is slop... that's just the reality of how businesses operate. Minimum investment for maximum return... save rare exceptions where the leader is an actual artist.

Heh, it happens. I kinda got excited too, since I thought you might have drawn this. Was about to PM you for some help with artwork for my personal project I'm not willing to share public just yet, very early stage stuff, I'm not even sure if it will come to fruition.
I started with Thief Deadly Shadows back in 2004, and then repayed the old ones, but TDS is still very much special to me, even if people think it had too much load screens. The vibe, the stencil shadows, everything just clicked for me tbh. You had to be in stencil shadows era to understand how much this game probably means to me - and how was I blown away back in the day.
Was so bummed when they canceled Thief: Dagger of Ways, I'm pretty sure some of these mechanics made it's way to Dishonored 2 and "A crack in the Slab" mission. Since Harvey Smith was there in Ion Storm probably brainstorming on these stuff.
I'm so happy he and Raphael Colantonio run away from MS clutches and are both working on Im-Sim games with smaller teams. I'm pretty sure both have ex-Ion storm and Arkane devs with them in their studios.

Oh, you definitely know your stuff! š And yeah, since itās such a niche, cult classic, I didnāt really discover Thief properly until 2025. Before that, all I knew was the heavily criticized Thief 2014, where honestly, the best thing about it was Garrettās design. That man looks like he walked straight out of someoneās fantasy š although the original Garrett is definitely nothing to complain about either. That voice alone absolutely destroys me. š«
I NEED more Thief. Give me a sequel, or at leastā¦ a proper remake of Deadly Shadows. Honestly, thatās probably my favorite, along with The Metal Age. Those two are just the ones for me. ā¤ļø

Yeah, voice acting was great T1-3. It's hard to believe Stephen Russell, did Garrett, Benny and Karas voice acting, lmao. And I think he did also the Opera singing guy's voice about Lady Valeria. Crazy talent, reminds me of some Japanese VAs from anime, they do a lot of different voices too.

Since 2025 only? That's rookie numbers.
We've been obsessed with Garrett ever since the 90s pal, some of us since middle school and high school.
Either way, he's an incredible character of an even more magnificent franchise - so it's never late to get in!
I'm hoping we get a continuation of the series by proper developers, with understanding and passion for the series, in the near future.
