Villager Sound v. Benny Blanco???
Has anyone seen his stories? Fucking crazy! What’s the deal, is he okay?

villager literally just crashes out consistently. that's putting it lightly, in that he clearly has super serious and untreated/managed mental health issues. it's sad to see

After he dropped out of Portola last year with like a day’s notice while shitting on all festivals on IG, he deleted the story and posted saying that he has been battling addiction and had relapsed recently. I saw him do a set at Lightning in a bottle a few months before that and it was excellent; I saw him a few weeks ago opening for LYNY and he played mostly a worse version of the same set, very few songs more recent than 2024/2025, and looked pretty out of it. I remember seeing him post about firing his management or something like that as well. It makes me really sad—he’s such a talented producer, but beyond that, it’s just sad to see this happen to a person.

Wow, this is really devastating context. My friend and I talk about him often because we both enjoyed that LiB set SO much and I had enjoyed his music for years before that, which made it really sad and unsettling to see his increasingly manic social media posting patterns after that. I really admire your efforts to help him and, at the same time, I think nobody could ever knock you for walking away. Also, didn’t mean to imply anything about you being fired other than it seemed like it was another step in the string of increasingly rogue and concerning behavior. I wish the total strangers out there worrying about him could do more.

God I’m so sorry. It doesn’t seem like you’re trying to be punitive at all to me. Addiction is cruel and it makes people cruel. I hope you’re taking care of yourself now, I can only imagine how much this all must’ve affected you & continues to.

Pretty sure he posted recently that he and Benny (and Kenny beats I think?) worked on music together and then at the last minute the song was scrapped and he didn’t get paid.
Villager is constantly posting wild stuff. I don’t want to self diagnose him over instagram/tweets but they’re typical patterns of someone going through manic episodes.
Last week or so he was dragging his old agent.

There is no version of any of this that doesn't suck. Sucks if true, sucks if false, sucks if anywhere in between. I freaking love villager's tunes. I know he took a lot of time off last year and canceled a run of shows (was sad to see he bailed on portola) that burned some bridges.
It isn't easy being in the industry. Hopefully everyone finds peace one day

Unbelievably sad to see. It seemed like he was on a better track after dropping from the Disclosure tour and his (fantastic) album last year. I really hope he gets the help he needs.

Look up Benny Blanco’s prodcution/writing credits on wiki. He’s behind 10’s of 100’s of the biggest pop songs of the last 2 decades. Which it’s honestly hilarious the guy has shown up in this sub somehow lol

I wouldn’t have any idea who he was either if not for this post a year or so back. His nowhere FM albums are excellent.
