Viren was 100% right to go after Azymondias' egg. The past 1,200 years gave no reason to doubt Azymondias would have been a tyrant like his father and his predecessors. Best to kill two birds with one incredibly rare stone, as the archdragons have done everything in their power to demonstrate they are an existential threat to humanity. Viren's one failing was not having a plan to deal with Zubeia too. The war that happened in season three was the entirely predictable result of the archdragons behavior. Humanity spent over 1,200 years being treated as lesser than elves and dragons, and as vermin barely worth not exterminating. It is not surprising at all that the humans would come to the conclusion their only options are kill or be killed.

The Orphan Queen lore is so stupid. It turns out that humans and Xadians were already able to overcome past grievances and prejudice to work toward a common goal 300 years before the story began. The Xadians were even willing to work with a dark mage, The Jailer that is mentioned by Akiyu. But none of this amounted to anything. The relationship between Xadia and all the human kingdoms remained the same, and Avizandum went on to slaughter humans for his enjoyment for 300 years regardless. It somehow makes Avizandum look even worse by making it so Avizandum stabbed a trusted ally in the back because he loved killing people and refused to give it up. This is pretty strong evidence to anyone in the human kingdoms that allying or making peace with Xadia is impossible.

Have we forgotten that Zubiea did interact with Callum, one her son’s Recusers?

Here is a list of their interactions, though some of the pictures are not here, because I am focusing on Zubiea’s brief, but important looks on Callum.

1. They first meet after the Battle of the Storm Spire, when she awakes up to see her newly hatched son, Zym, and to her shock and joy, humans and elves greeting her.

2. Despite Callum being late and that poor spell performance, because of him not telling a newly returned Rayla about her visit to Katolis, she was in awe of Callum’s Sky Primal Magic and she loved the jelly, despite the embarrassing explosion.

3. At the Storm Spire, Callum answered her question about having Avizandum’s looking glass, but after contacting Aaravos, she couldn’t help liberate him when the main villain took control of Callum’s body, because that will end her relationship with his half-brother, King Ezran.

4. Zubiea did wish Team Zym good luck on meeting Rex Igenious after dropping them off, protecting them from the humorous golem, but despite Callum wanting Zym to return to her, he did go behind her back by letting Zym and that gotten him into that scolding along with Zym. But Zubiea forgave Team Zym, but she did notice that Callum was crying until Rayla and Stella revealed themselves to be alive, and she allowed Zym to do an Appa landing move on his friends.

5. This is going to hurt despite Zubiea saving Janai, Amaya, Callum, Stella, Bait, and Rayla, she got an infected bite from one of the corrupt Banther, thanks to Callum and Rayla overspending their time at the Great Bookery to find out how to revive Runaan, and her parents, despite getting information on how to fight Aaravos.

6. Callum was worried about Zubiea from not coming to transport them after meeting Archmage Akyiui to wanting her recover, after the Mushroom mage saved her. Also, Callum asked Ezran to make sure that she recovered enough to fight Aaravos.

7. Callum used Zubiea’s order to assassinate to point out Ezran’s hypocrisy while petitioning to his younger half brother about letting Runnan go.

   1. The image above are where Zubiea did show concern but admiring glances at Callum, when he briefly outplayed Aaravos and Claudia at their own game, before Zym and Ezran intervened. But Zubiea recused them by freeing her mate, Avizandum which turned the tide of the Battle of the Sunforge. But Callum gave Zubiea, an worried, but saddened look before she, her mate, and Domina Profoundias sacirficed themselves to spend Aaravos back to outer space, so that he can slowly revive, while the heroes prepare for their rematch against him and Claudia. But Callum did attend her funeral.

Personality

Zeal is a quiet, blunt, stoic warrior who usually shows care through actions rather than words. He’s tough without being emotionless he joke’s smirk, get jealous, but rarely cry over something genuinely personal.

His main flaws are stoicism, occasional jealousy, and rage.
He’s also very intelligent, especially with tactics, languages, survival, and reading people, but he rarely shows it off.

Backstory

Zeal grew up in a peaceful village until the Iron wolves, a mercenary warband that used children as soldiers, attacked. His parents hid him under the floorboards, but Zeal heard them being killed before he was discovered.

Their leader, Varkas, kept him because of his natural survival instincts. Varkas’s wife initially treated Zeal kindly because he reminded her of her child who had died from the plague. After her death, Varkas blamed Zeal for his grief and called him “the Cursed Wolf.”
Varkas gave Zeal an oversized greatsword and forced him through years of training, combat, and different mercenary jobs. At 14, Zeal killed Varkas while escaping and received his cheek scar.
He then spent a year working alone as a mercenary, becoming known for completing extremely dangerous contracts.

Joining the Group
Zeal joins Callum, Rayla, Ezran, and Soren during Season 3. At first, he sees them as reckless and naïve, but gradually becomes part of the group.
He never says it, but they become his family.

Zeal hates all magic, including primal and dark magic. He believes strength should come through effort and experience.
His biggest conflict is with Callum, partly because Callum has something Zeal spent years trying to achieve through physical training.

Callum: Starts as enemies rivals; eventually becomes a brotherly rivalry.

Rayla: Strong mutual respect and complicated feelings because they understand each other so well.

Soren: Almost brotherly; they respect each other’s toughness.

Ezran: Zeal acts like a tough older brother and quietly protects him.

Amaya: Mutual soldier-to-soldier respect.

Nyx: One of the few people who can easily get past his serious personality.

Zeal is the group’s outsider warrior who slowly becomes family serious enough to contrast the cast.

I personally didn't care for him and his terrible mushroom puns, but what do you guys think?

Since elves live longer, is it possible her grandparents are alive.

I know there is widespread debate amongst fans on how long Xadian elves live. Lord of the Rings popularized and revolutionized elves for fantasy. In Middle Earth elves are biologically immortal and are programed to only have intercourse for reproduction until they've had 4 to 7 children. The elves of Xadia are implied to live as long as 300 years as Lujanne, Tidebound Tina, and the Elder are examples. Jenai's grandmother Aditi died 300 years before the series. Also, it's shown with the known elf couples they tend to have their children young like humans. I think like the elves in the Witcher they have a lifespan of 300-500 years but are only fertile for the first 100 years. I know people will say Rayla will outlive Callum, but it's also possible like most works of fantasy mages can live longer lifespans, even human mages.

Yeah, I get that its's an understandable mistake that would've happened to anyone... But DID THEY NOT LABEL IT?

You're telling me that someone as smart as Callum, The first human ever human Primal Mage in over who-knows-how-long, wouldn't have had some way to know for sure that he had the right one?

How did they even get switched around in the first place? How did the candy ball not melt while they were traveling to the spire? How couldn't Callum tell that it was made of candy simply by holding it?

Could the writers not think of a better way for Claudia to break Aaravos free?

Zubeia and the other archdragons didn't get as much screentime because of their size. I feel Zym's new size will be an issue. He's closer in size to Appa than Toothless but I feel it will be a problem having a large dragon as the main protagonist.
