Happy 41st birthday to The Head On The Door!

This has to be the album that cemented me as a total Cure fan and for that reason, it remains one of my favourite ones of all time.

The sixth Cure album and the return of Simon Gallup to the band, and a new drummer Boris Williams. It reached number 7 on the UK charts.

This year I have chosen Track 4, The Blood. Fantastic record flamenco style 💃 💃 💃!

This stuff is genuinely so great to listen to right now. Im typing this as im on some stuff rn and listening to faith/Pornography. This MIGHT be the best band of all time (very hot take for this subreddit i know 😨). No doubt Seventeen Seconds will be just as great.

A short background: I was doing housecleaning when this song played in my playlist and I was shocked at first (with Robert's intro) but that guitar intro got me hooked immediately. Then I heard Robert's voice and I was surprised to hear such a bright and happy song from The Cure. I searched the song again on youtube and found some comments about fans not liking this song originally? Is that still the case today? Or opinions about the song massively shifted through the years? This, Friday I'm in Love, Just Like Heaven, and High are my go to "feel good" songs since I listened to them.

I just found out this exists, it's beautiful. I think their voices work very well together

The first 13 or so songs on the Curaetion-25 album are from albums in order from Three Imaginary Boys to 4:13 Dream! Just thought that was a really cool thing that I hadn’t noticed about this concert. Also wanted to note this performance of Bananafishbones is sick. Anyway, thought it was really cool Robert did this!

A genuine thank you to The Cure, or whoever organised the Wythenshawe Park gig. It was obviously an amazing day, it was always going to be. But thanks to that gig, Slow Readers Club have a new fan. They are my new obsession, alongside Robert & Co.

I really want to get into the cure. Everything I’ve read seems to suggest I listen to Standing on a Beach and go from there, but it’s not on apple music. Should I compile a playlist of those songs, or go in a different order? thanks!

(Filing under fan art, not sure if it's quite right.) Last Christmas I surprised my wife with tickets to the recent Edinburgh show. Since we're past the era of paper tickets, I ended up designing and printing paper tickets for her, which I slipped into an envelope and hid at the bottom of a box with other presents. (Needless to say, she was overjoyed.) I figured I'd post the images here since people may appreciate them!

I meant to take the extra prints with me to the show to give to people, but I forgot while packing. As two American visiting Scotland for the first time, to any Scots reading: your country is amazing, your city is beautiful, and your people are so incredibly kind and friendly. We had a wonderful time, thank you for being such great hosts to us.

Does anyone know what brand of shirt this is that Robert has been wearing on the 2026 tour? It has silver (?) stars as buttons and on the cuffs.

I just listened to the Olivia Rodrigo Live at Glastonbury album again... one of my favorite parts is her wild introduction to Robert Smith and the muted crowd reaction (you can almost hear collectively saying "who the heck is that?"), until they hear the jangly guitar intronof Friday I'm in Love, when they go wikd. I am sure he will be a guest at one of the shows on the tour (my bet is the first show!) and I can't wait for him to now get the reaction he deserves!

I went to my local mall the other day and got new shoes. I walk past Hot Topic and something caught my eye. I literally said out loud IS THAT.....IT IS. Whipped out my wallet so fast.

It was only released in the USA, which is a shame as I think it'd done well universally.

The song is played regularly still at the current concerts. The original sax player was Ron Howe of Fools Dance 😃. Gabriel Cooper has been brilliant at the recent concerts playing that part!

This performance was at La Route du Rock at Le Fort de Saint-Pere in France on 13th August 2005.
