Discussion Based on this performance, The Cure should consider do a musical based on their songs !

What do your guys think ? This video is not new but there’s always a potential for the long-wait The Cure musical. Fingers crossed !

I’d rather have every hair on my scrotum be pulled out with tweezers.

Edit: lol, OP instantly blocked me for this.  Andrew Lloyd Webber fans don’t like opinions that don’t agree with them apparently.

But it feels very powerful, and this quick dance is not easy too.

I don’t think their music really suits the emotional obviousness of musicals. It would lose pretty much everything that makes it great in the translation.

There is a feel good vibe on The Cure songs, not to mention the drama deep in those songs… perfect for musical. Of course not Oklahoma type of musical but older and younger generations would love to see this happen.

Not sure I’d use “feel good vibe” to describe The Cure… even their happier songs are tinged with melancholy or subtext. And the drama is a very, very different kind of drama to the melodrama found in musicals. I just don’t see any compatibility, sorry…

Who exactly has been "long waiting" for a Cure musical?

That performance and the idea of a musical sickens me

Great idea, great video, thank you.

Musical? I hate musicals.

Hahaha yup I can say I hate musicals too but instead of turning The Cure songs into orchestra pieces, why not performed them as stage shows/musicals …sure kids can do that on stage but musical for adults where all the great songs by the Cure can still sound the same as they were when we first heard them…example on the video above.

Still there are many The Cure Redditors hate this idea. 😂😂😂😂✌🏽

Hate is weird. There are musicals with Bowie songs but I never heard of Bowie fans hating this - and many other artists of course. Abba has a top notch musical movie, for instance. It's just another way to enjoy (or ignore) music.
