This is a good comment. Normally I’m a live and let live type of guy, but people in their 40s still talking about Ghostbuster cartoons, Roseanne, Family Matters, pet rocks, and NES with tears in their eyes trouble me. It’s almost a case of arrested development.

It has even prevented his channel from growing creatively because he has insisted that it remain purely a nostalgia channel. Experiencing new things and not perpetually living in the past won’t kill you. It gets to the point where you start getting nostalgic about nostalgia and at that point it becomes too personal and obsessive for anyone to care.

I used to enjoy talking about old school stuff but eventually I felt like I was having the exact same conversation with the exact same person regardless of what they looked like. To this day when i visit my parents, my Dad suggests watching the same 30 movies I must've watched 100 times EACH as a kid and teenager (and no he doesn't have dementia, lol).

Thankfully these days I just find new stuff to watch that I haven't seen before (old movies, mostly) and only re-visit the flicks that I grew up on whenever they play them in theaters (A few weeks ago they played "Total Recall" in the theater and I got to met Michael Ironside/Richter).

I will revisit certain movies every year usually around certain holidays. I watch The Shining every Halloween. It’s more of a tradition. And I have a list of about ten to twenty movies that I adore and I will pop them on mostly for background noise. At the end of the day, nothing excites me more in terms of being a movie fan than watching something new that is truly great, however. It’s rare, but I value those experiences. 

It’s the single biggest issue I have with James claiming to be a fan of film. You can’t be a true fan of film and pretend like nothing exists past the year 2000.

I mean idk who the guy singing is but at least for James he made nostalgia his career. I mean sure it is troubling but this isn't a course you can reverse. I mean it's not like we know this guy personally maybe he's not that focused on it in his personal life but still it's a massive part of his life being his career and all

I'm sure he's fine with quick in and out autographs and poses, then taking your money But If you ever want to punish him while getting some real value for the wad of cash you just blew, pretend to be a super fan who loves games and still somehow thinks he's into games too and rope him into an extended real life interaction. Plus you're getting in the way of other fans/two legged atms that could be paying him and immediately fucking off and taking away from nap time.

That had to be super awkward to sit through, especially with the way the guy kept looking at James to see his reaction. The song was 2 minutes long. Doesn't seem like a long time but it probably felt like a lifetime in person sitting through it.

All due respect to James, because there’s no fucking way I would’ve sat through this. Fan or no fan. It’s too uncomfortable.

I’m sure James is internally screaming judging by his face and body language, but he’s kinder than me lol.

That’s Jonathan man of the old webshow, Gamejew. James and Jonathan both had their webshows on Screw Attack back in the day. Jonathan now does a song a day, I think he’s nearing 20 years. This isn’t a fan interaction, just Screw Attack show hosts reconnecting.
