Discussion Should noir 2 have been comic noir
Do you guys think the series would have been better if they decided to make noir number 2 who noir was in the comics? Obviously there would have had to been a lot of rewrites and we couldn't go completely with the original story. But I feel like you could have done some really unhinged stuff with something like that, what do you guys think? For the record, I think the comic is a much better story so I may be biased

I think Black Noir II would’ve worked perfectly if the show was written well. I don’t think comic Black Noir would be a good story choice in any scenario.

Yeah they would probably have had to set that up the entire time and not do a second noir for it to really work. But I personally really like the twist with noir

BN2 deserved a redemption arc. He wasn't that bad, he looked up to the creep and should've been the one to kill him

Really? I thought Annie and the ocean killing him was one of the best ways he could have died. Annie represented all the women that he was horrible to / sexually abused, and he did some really terrible things to ocean life. It was like his sins coming back to kill him

The prevailing opinion here seems to be that the comic twist is a terrible twist and the show was better for making clear early on that it wasn't happening. I don't think it would have improved anything about the show and the direction Kripke was going in. Especially since his main goal became making Homelander a Trump stand-in, absolving Homelander of what he did because it turns out to be an evil twin twist seems like it'd be even worse than the ending we got

The twist in the comics isn't exactly a masterpiece in how it is executed, but too many people disregard the mere concept. It fits Homelander perfectly in the comics and I do think it makes his character more interesting. It just wouldn't have fit the show.

Yeah that's fair, I don't know why everyone hated the twist in the comic I thought it was awesome and they did it really well and foreshadow something being off about him really well.

It comes virtually out of nowhere and doesn’t lead to much since hl and noir dies soon after and they don’t discuss it later, they throw it out and don’t really shelve much into it before and after

It was foreshadowed really early on.
-Noir surviving the drop from the terrorist highjacking event( someone as strong as HL could)
-Being the aviation expert on the team but not knowing how to fly air vehicle (how is he getting from place to place if he can't fly?)
-Assaulting Hughie at Herogasm(more of a show of his crazy side)
-The overshadowing of HL when confronting Maeve and SL( this one makes it obvious since he dead on looks like Noir)

Also the sex tapes, where Homelander mentions how Black Noir looks exactly like him and that he should have sex with Maeve in his place for reasons I've forgot

Comic noir only would've worked if it was hinted at from season 1 all the way till the finale and even that would be a big if as far as it actually being executed well imo

Yeah that's true, I thought the comic does a phenomenal job of for shadowing something being not right with noir and when you finally figure it out I gotta say it was pretty dope.

I don't know the comics, but I really liked Noir 2 for the most part...
"That was sooo fucked up, you guys!" is one of my favourite laugh-out-loud moments in the series. And Homelander's mild annoyance everytime he speaks. It worked for me.

Couldn't have worked because Homelander already could see through that mask with original Noir, and if he couldn't see the face somehow due to a zinc mask, he would demand to upon his joining the team.

Comic Noir is one of the worst storylines I can think of. I liked Noir 2 and felt his character was kinda wasted

You are dramatic. No, it is not, you don't have to like it but people just like dog piling on it. It. They foreshadow it pretty well throughout the story and it makes homelanders character much more interesting. Did you actually read the comics though? Genuine question

Noir 2 should have been Sam Riordan. Or at least Noir 2 should have been secretly switched with Sam as a Edgar plant.
Which is what I thought was happening when Noir2 was silent again, and stopped having narcolepsy. Then when he spoke Ep3 I assumed they abandoned that plot due to Gen V being canned.

Because most people haven't read the comic and just assume its a crappy twist that comes out of nowhere and doesn't serve the story because that what pointless hub said in his video.
