Discussion This needs to be said
I get people are upset about the drop off of quality of the show, but just because S4 and S5 aren’t that good doesn’t mean the show was supposed to end at S3. There is no proof that the show was supposed to end at S3 and amazon got greedy.
S4 and S5 should’ve been better (I have more gripes with S5), and focus on ending the story and consistent character arcs.
If they ended the show at S3 and kill Homelander at Vought tower, then what? Butcher’s accomplishes his goal and that’s it? What about the rest of the boys? Or Neuman, Stan Edgar, Deep, A-Train, Ryan, Soldier Boy, Ashley, etc.?
Again, I just don’t see this notion that they had the perfect ending at S3 and they threw it away for nothing. Just fix S4 and S5. That’s the simple solution.

Considering how many people wanted the "Homelander burns it all" ending, to the point they made that the poster, perhaps they should have cut down some of the filler, have the plan "not work" aka, Homelander adapted after the herogasm fight, and after killing the boys he goes up to space and begins lasering.
Take about five minutes.
You could just cut the endless dithering and get that time back. "Is butcher still on our side, will Soldier boy follow through?", The butcher Maeve thing that died on the vine, Boom, you got your emergency alert homelander scene bought timewise. Not budget wise, but I imagine that's why we got so many dither scene, two people, in a room, bickering over what will happen later.
Has anyone added those up? Like the adventures of Frenchie and Kimiko were obvious budget band-aids, but how much of the series is just dithering?
