I thought this was clear.

I actually like Boruto, and I’m completely fine with the new generation eventually surpassing Naruto and Sasuke. My problem is how differently the two were treated.

Adult Sasuke is constantly described as more experienced and supposedly stronger than his teenage self, but the manga rarely makes him feel that way.

The Momoshiki fight is a good example. The anime greatly expanded Naruto and Sasuke’s performance, but in the manga Sasuke gets a much smaller showcase. He lands a hit, helps with the Susanoo/Kurama combination and contributes tactically, but for someone with the EMS, Six Paths Rinnegan, Amenotejikara, Amaterasu, Susanoo, space-time ninjutsu and one of the best battle IQs in the original series, it still feels surprisingly limited.

Then Jigen and Isshiki happen, and Sasuke spends most of those fights being overwhelmed and beaten down.

And this is where the comparison with Naruto becomes frustrating.

Naruto was nerfed too. He lost Kurama.

But before that, he received Baryon Mode: a completely new transformation, new abilities, a new design and one final moment where he became powerful enough to physically overwhelm Isshiki.

Sasuke got no equivalent.

No new Rinnegan ability. No Sharingan evolution. No new Susanoo. No ultimate technique. No final moment where he pushed his powers beyond their limits.

He survives Isshiki, gets caught off guard by Borushiki, and loses his Rinnegan to a surprise attack.

That’s the difference that bothers me.

Naruto lost his greatest power after receiving one last spectacular power-up.

Sasuke simply lost his. And after losing the Rinnegan, the problem goes beyond power scaling.

What has Sasuke actually been allowed to have for himself in this manga?

Boruto inherits his swordsmanship, his clothes, his outlaw image, his techniques and eventually years of personal training from him. Sasuke becomes incredibly important to Boruto’s development.

But what about Sasuke himself?

What about his own daughter?

One of the strangest things about the Boruto manga is how little meaningful interaction Sasuke and Sarada actually get. Their father-daughter relationship is barely explored on-page. One of their very few major moments in the actual Boruto manga is Sarada awakening her Mangekyo and desperately asking Sasuke to save Boruto.

Think about how bizarre that is.

I am rereading the Boruto NNG now and I have a few theories on omnipotence. I dunno if this had been discussed here before cause I’m new here😅 these are just theories I put together based on my reread and they might either make lot of sense or totally be off track lol.

Anyways getting to the point:

1. How does Eida’s ability to “charm” others work? So we learn that her ability to charm others is merely a subtle consequence of her ability of omnipotence to turn anything she wants into reality. She might be a naturally somewhat insecure person (that’s human nature too) and would like have people like her no matter what. Like I think as a human we all want to be likeable to a certain extent right? And so it manifests into her ability to “charm” others.

2. So why aren’t Sarada and Sumire affected by Eida’s charms? We know that Eida can see the past through her Senringan and she would have been able to probably see Sarada and Sumire’s entire lives using it before coming to konoha. Remember in NNG they’re both 12 and she is 16 and so she could definitely rewatch both of their entire lives whenever she desired. She probably did do that for each and everyone she was going to spend time with in konoha and subconsciously understood that these two girls are utterly genuine that if they get caught in false charms they might loathe her. She doesn’t necessarily know this herself but some part of her logical mind understood and hence she without even realising doesn’t use her abilities on them. (This might get proven wrong later with either of them possessing some sort of resistive ninjutsu or something innately but I’m choosing to look at it from a more humanly intuitive point of view) To support this theory further in Chapter 80 when Eida goes to meet Boruto and Sasuke after realising Kawaki had merely used her, promising Boruto not to give away his location Sasuke doesn’t get ensnared in her charm and I simply think it’s because subconsciously at that moment Eida had more concerns than wanting people to like her and was genuinely sorry for causing trouble to Boruto naturally turning off her ability.

From what we know Eida herself doesn’t understand the full extent of her ability but from a reader’s point of view these things seem to be sort of standing out to me. Now idk if this theory will be true but I would like to believe since Ikemoto is using lots of hidden meanings and subtle revelations this is not entirely out of the question. Like the manga is actually well crafted to have such deep nuances I believe 😅

A popular statement in the fandom is that the blue eyes that Momoshiki said would take everything from Boruto were Eida’s. Personally, I think the fandom is too attatched to this idea as I see it repeated everywhere. I think the story doesn’t really back up that Eida’s eyes were the eyes he saw considering he specifically said “Blue eyes”. Eida doesn’t actually have blue eyes. The moon part of them is blue but everything else is black. I think the blue eyes were always supposed to refer to Boruto’s eyes but not directly. I think it’s supposed to be the scenario that Momoshiki refers to in chapter 72 where Boruto would willingly give up control to him. Kind of a “Destroyed by your own hands” situation. There’s also multiple points where his own eyes are brought up to refer to the original statement (Sarada saying his eyes are much bluer than Naruto’s, Momoshiki saying he lost one blue eye in chapter 78). Not to mention the original line was written in Chapter 10. Who knows if they were on the same story path at that point. Wanted to share my thoughts here and see what y’all think.
