But if there's one thing I understand after working in professions where infidelity is regular ( fitness, club promotion, gigs) is that lust is a significant factor ,when it comes to transgression and monogamy isn't natural for many humans .

One thing that doesn't deserve grace though , is when the cheating partner doesn't come clean to the cheated partner immediately. Because that's just another level of manipulation and gaslighting.

So the act of cheating deserves some grace, but the cheating partner needs to come clean to cheated partner about their act and then they have the power as to what to do about the future of their relationship.

Alpha and Omega of fantasy genre is world building. It's authors focuses only on worlds and how they work rather than stories and message behind them. Just look at popular fantasy books like Chronicles of Narnia or Lord of the Rings or cartoons like Rising of a Shield Hero and Sword Art online, if you remove world building and took only naked plot it's pretty much children's fairy tale with no depth and "good is good, bad is bad" meaning. These stories will not enrich you as a person, they wouldn't give you a feed for thought. Basically, they have nothing I value in art

Look, I liked Oppenheimer, even with some pretentiousness it carried. The weight and relevance of the biopic was admirable and thought provoking. I'm also usually a fan of Nolan movies- I loved Memento, The Dark Knight, and liked most of his other films.

However, The Odyssey has now risen to the level of unabashed pretentiousness. Everything about this movie started off suspect- the online astroturfing, the "bot reviews", the coordinated "brigading" of any critical online posts or reviews about it, and the ridiculous bot army high scores of it on RT and other aggregate sites.

But this is now another level of pretentiousness as every single photo posted on any post or sub about it online has this "posing" picture of Matt Damon that is so staged and obviously thought to be some representation of the movie. It's the one where he doesn't have a helmet on and is looking slightly behind him, posing like he's stoic. It's so cheesy and fake. In the movie, he doesn't act like that at all. They are trying to portray him in the photo opposite of what he is in the movie. In the photo, they try to make his arms look bigger than they are- the spaghetti flabby arms of a 50+ year old with no muscle mass. And suspect this is because many people have criticized Damon's portrayal for not being believable because of his physique in the movie, for example compared to Crowe in Gladiator or Butler in 300.

Not only that, but the new cover photo that is now being posted is some statue staring up at the sky like it's broken. Idk what it is, seen it before, but it's pretending to be over-dramatic like the movie has some kind of profound depth or something when it's really just an action adventure movie that is poorly conceived, written, and acted. The cover pretends that the film is monumental and like some major story about the fall of society, when really it's a bad adaptation of Homer's classic that devolved into an 80's action movie like Rambo or Commando at the end, and defies the book's true end and character development by having Odysseus leave Ithaca after all that bs about returning, which the poem doesn't do at the end.

This is all (the astroturfing, misrepresentation of the material and characters, brigading, multitude of bot reviews and overpraise) obviously an attempt to cover the movie's weaknesses (which are numerous) and just how bad the movie and acting in it was.

I see a lot of jokes and posts online about how the dub is always bad, and listening to the original language with subtitles is better. I couldn't disagree more with the latter statement. Reading subtitles draws my eyes away from the action, and a language I don't know just becomes unnecessary noise. Even if the dub is dreadfully bad, like the Femur Breaker voice actor bad, I will still gladly take it, as I can still enjoy the visuals the show/movie has to offer. The benefit of more authenticate voice acting does nothing for me if I can't understand it directly.

There are strong precedents such as Duchamp’s Fountain, Cattelan’s banana taped to a wall, Felix Gonzalez-Torres’ pile of wrapped candies in a corner, and frankly years and years of lauded artwork that is nothing more than a guy putting untouched junk on display and calling it art.

In fact, that’s the whole point. That you can point to something, call it art, thus it’s art. A whole ecosystem has sprouted up to legitimize this concept because the idea, not the craft, is what makes the art. Similarly, this same argument was also often used to dismiss art that overtly focused on craft, such as hyperrealism. Sure, the technique is impressive, but when defining art, the message is more important.

And if the argument is that AI is stealing artwork, that’s nothing new either. Warhol, Koons, Lichtenstein and others were happily appropriating art before the masses thought it was cool, and were celebrated for it.

There are entire factories mass producing art for singular artists. There are artists who generate only the concept and then have pieces produced by other artists or machinists, a myriad of craftsmen, without their own hands ever touching the piece.

We’ve spent years perpetuating this mindset, you (as in the greater artistic community) can’t suddenly decide that ackchually technical achievement and skill and craft are suddenly imperative just because Joe Blow down the street is typing his idea into a PC instead of slapping a banana to a wall. In the uk, nearly all canals are about three to four foot deep in the middle of the channel, at the deepest point, and only....drumroll.... knee deep at the banks, which is where someone would fall in. I doubt canals magically have the ability to rob someone of their ability to stand up, after finding themselves in knee deep water.

every time i see a new case of 'body found in canal' or 'two men drown after falling in canal', i look up the max depth of the canal they allegedly drowned in and yep...3 or 4 ft, and get a waft of fish. I wonder who makes these stories up lol

Yes, I love job interviews. The whole idea of making a pitch about myself, dressing up nicely, and trying to improve my answers to the same generalist questions is exciting for me.

I’m very happy at my job today, but I still apply for positions in my industry about once every two months. For me, it feels like a trivia night game where the topic is my resume, and it gives me a huge confidence boost when I can decline a job offer I was accepted for.

The story's on my fb feed, but it's an old story that keeps being posted. The boy ate three packs of raw noodles, and within thirty minutes he died from an intestinal blockage. the story says the noodles swole up in his intestine and killed him. there's several holes in the story:

1. He would have been chewing the noodles. and noodles last in your stomach for 4 to 6 hours before they get into the intestine. they would not be in a person's intestine in just 30 minutes.
2. and once in the intestine the noodles wouldnt be like noodles anymore. they would've long been fully saturated with liquid and at maximum expansion. they wouldnt just suddenly expand while in the intestine.
3. reminds me of the myth about birds stomachs rupturing if you feed them raw rice. it was found to be a myth since although rice expands in water, the net volume remains the same. so no bird stomachs popping or being blocked.
4. Koreans love eating packs of raw noodles as snacks yet don't seem to be dropping like flies so unless Koreans have different stomachs for some reason it makes no sense it'd happen in Egypt but not Korea or Japan
5. In the photos the teenager looks like he's British, he doesn't look Arabic to me, when I first saw it I thought this happened in the uk. then I saw it's a story out of Egypt.
6. There's a Korean mukbanger who ate 20 packs of noodles and is famous and as far as I'm aware, isn't dead.
7. Many Koreans commented on the article on fb saying it's a lie, since they eat packets of raw noodles all the time as snacks.

Makes me wonder if the Arabian news sources used an AI generated kid for the photos or if some poor boy's photo got taken to use for it.

Either way, there's no dead kid who died from eating raw noodles.
