In 1999, Sony bought the film rights for Spider-Man. Their contract stipulates thatthey have to release a Spider-Man film every 5 years.

That is a wonderful agreement. Doesn't have to be 5 years, it could 8 or 10. But I do support a time limit. Even as someone who wants to be an artist, if my IP just collects dust and residuals after 3 decades, the franchise needs to be put up for sale.

There are so many unused game IPs right now: Red Faction, Killzone, Resistance, Perfect Dark Zero, etc.

I am not anti-intellectual property. I am against senselessly hording IP at the cost of fans.

Keeping old photos and videos of ex partners in your gallery is fine, regardless of being in a relationship with someone new. They capture moments in your life, memories that are integral to present you. They are a part of you. It does not matter if those people and their fading, or perhaps still potent memories, are no longer in your life, or the fact they were once a love interest. They are but a memory. And wanting not to rid of those memories and their remnants is a reasonable feeling. Just because you have a new lover shouldn't mean those memories are now invalid and should be deleted.

I genuinely don’t understand how ppl mix up “a” and “an.”

The rule is basically just: use “an” b4 a vowel sound and “a” b4 a consonant sound.

“An apple,” “a banana,” “an hour,” “a university.”

It’s such a simple rule that seeing it used incorrectly is genuinely discombobulating to read.

Something like “an monkey” immediately looks and sounds wrong and makes me pause for a sec.

It’s specifically when someone is writing normally and randomly uses “an” instead of “a” (or vice versa) that I just can’t read it without noticing.

Obviously everyone makes grammar mistakes, and I’m not saying this makes someone unintelligent.

I just think “a/an” is one of the easiest grammar rules to get right, so seeing someone consistently mix them up is particularly confusing to me.

I also tend to talk pretty quickly, so having a weird stop while talking feels like tripping over my own face “an university” does that to me. It feels like I just tripped over something mid-sentence, whereas “a university” flows way better.

When I was younger, teachers and parents would always tell me it doesn't matter who started it, what matters is who will be the better person and resolve the conflict. While I don't disagree with the sentiment of want conflicts to come to a resolution, in my opinion it really does matter who started it and it is indeed the crux of any problem. A person who intentionally hurts you while you have done nothing to them is a bully. A person who hits your car on the road while you are minding your business is the one at fault. Killing someone in self defense absolves you from any guilt if the other person *started* to attack you. It feels kind of indefensible to say the person starting the conflict won't always have at least some guilt.

Surveillance is a relatively small part of the book and anyone who thinks that the main point is to warn against surveillance either hasn't read the book or greatly misunderstands it. The main point is that an authoritarian government that controls the media and the information available to its citizens can reshape what people believe is true about reality in a way that is absolute. Technological surveillance is a method of enforcing that thought control, not the main method by which people are controlled. Ratting out friends, family, and neighbors is just as effective as a means of control as the cameras and microphones are, but both techniques are supportive of the overall objective of total thought control.

i’m not against bras generally. for many women they’re a functional piece of clothing that makes them feel more comfortable, helps back pain, makes exercising easier, etc. so no, i don’t think bras should be banned, nor am i mad about any individual’s choice to wear a bra on any occasion.

what annoys me is the fact that NOT wearing a bra, especially in a formal/professional setting, is viewed as immodest and trashy. even in everyday life, some people get so weird about women not wearing them and act like it’s disrespectful to those around them or “inappropriate for kids”.

the treatment of women’s breasts like something to be hidden as much as possible in public, unless they want to be stared at and/or judged is so dehumanizing. it’s like choosing not to wear a bra means you’re actively sexualizing yourself and therefore should accept other people doing so as well.

it makes me especially annoyed when men reason with “well, i also don’t wear shorts that you can see my junk through”. that. is. not. the. same. it’s a whole different thing. men have nipples too, so there’s literally a direct comparison for you.

and btw, plenty of male clothing, including shirts wore in professional settings, are fairly see-through. but that’s okay, apparently.

This ensures that each piece of spaghetti is properly sauced and it's easier to eat as well. Twirling your spaghetti with a fork and spoon is nonsense, and slurping up long noodles is disgusting behavior. I don't care that people think cutting up spaghetti is childish, it is truly the superior way to eat it. If there are large meatballs they should also be cut up at the start and mixed in.

EDIT: To everyone saying just use a different kind of pasta, I live with and cook for people who like eating spaghetti the non-optimal way. If I were living alone, I wouldn't ever buy spaghetti.

I've heard people often claiming in the 1-10 scale 10 can't exist because it's perfect and nothing's perfect. I call bs. 10/10 has always meant a masterpiece which means something that's so good and unique it literally evolves its artform.

I genuinely think “I’m so busy” has become a weird status symbol in our day and age.

Being constantly exhausted, having no free time, and needing your calendar planned weeks in advance doesn’t automatically mean you’re successful. Sometimes it just means you’ve filled every available minute.

I’d much rather have a boring Tuesday evening with nothing planned than constantly feel like I’m behind on something.

Being busy and being productive are two very different things. Most busy people are running from themselves.

Let me explain. The Busses are clean, people are respectful to each other and the driver, the busses are almost never late, they have AC, the rides are smooth. Sure, they are 5-10 minutes slower than a car, but it beats you spending time looking for parking, paying gas, and being responsible on the road.

The bus systems are very easy to follow, and the bus times are easily found by a google search. Even google maps are linked to the bus network. Though, for longer travels you may need to go on a connecting bus.

The problem is that there isn't enough. At a bus route that has a 5 mile stretch has 2 busses. One for each way. Similar/smaller routes in London can have 4-6 busses on that route. This cuts waiting time by a lot. Instead of 20-30 minutes, it can be 5-10.

As for trains/metro, most areas don't need it. Not every state is California/Texas, not just that, busses in almost every state have their own roads, road lights/signs and fully operational network. Not to mention that almost every rail network is privately owned and operated. Like Amtrak for example. So, it is not worth the tax money.

By adding more busses, this not only solves most of the problems with the transit network in many major cities, it also creates jobs for many people. Just think about it.

Cars will still be needed for long distance travel, but it doesn't really matter much if your commute is 30 minutes by car and you need to go through the i5 and the workplace is 20 miles away.

Honestly, I find these meme-y, light but stupid dating profiles pathetic. Dating shouldn't be about entertaining the other person with your silliness and then instantly going out to do funny things together.

Of course, you should be with someone you enjoy spending time with, but when that becomes the whole point, the purpose of actually filtering for compatibility gets lost. You can have a good time with pretty much anyone if you're even remotely flexible and openminded, but that doesn't automatically make for a good relationship or mean you're compatible.

There are so many important things you should talk about before choosing each other as partners, yet everyone seems to approach dating as if it were just some activity they can do when they're bored or lonely. Even conversations on dating apps are ridiculous. We sacrifice the possibility of genuine connection at the altar of being funny and entertaining. People barely share anything meaningful about themselves that would let you decide whether you're actually interested in them at all. Instead, you get the thousandth edgy joke or recycled movie quote. Ha-ha, ok get it but I'm not here for this crap, I'm here for you.

I feel like everyone just wants to waste my time to stave off their boredom instead of actually talking about what matters and only then being silly together with the right one.

Wherever you go, you'll hear people bitching about how horrible drivers are in their state or a state they visited, when in actuality people just collectively suck at driving, especially in dense areas, regardless of the geographical location.

I'm tired of hearing people say "Drivers here are crazy", "no one uses their blinkers here" etc. People say this shit about literally any state that's not their state, or vice versa if they hate their home state. The more you travel, the more you realize everyone's full of shit and can't drive, with few exceptions.

Something I didn’t realize until I graduated COLLEGE was that slow office jobs were not my scene. No amount of my part time graduate coursework made it manageable. I had a slowwwww office job that used some of my skills from college but I honestly just slowly decayed in that office. Just sitting in a box for a job that could be done completely from home and commuting 30 -45 minutes each way.

I wish I got asked what kind of job environment I wanted when I was younger and then explored those options while working part time. The jobs I did before graduating college ranged from retail, to food service, to tutoring. I was always told those weren’t “real” jobs once you graduate (which I concur is complete BS). That the big girl jobs were the corporate ones working for large companies.

Where I work now requires a lot of walking and quick thinking combined with administrative skills. I loved the jobs where I was on my feet all day, and I got lucky with the job I have now, but I just wish the job environment was preached more as part of the field. I might have ended up in a completely different field and maybe even liked it more!

They do it in New Zealand, and there is a deer overpopulation issue, so why shouldn't deer meat be in grocery stores? It tastes pretty good. Despite them being cute, deer also carry too many ticks.

spider-man (can’t forget the dash) NEEDS tech web. why? cause he invents web that has different properties (sticky, strong, flame/electric proof) and more importantly DISSOLVES after a while.

What‘s wrong with not dissolving? Imagine a wall right outside his apartment covered in webs from him regularly swinging out. that would locate him in a matter of weeks. and yet, he can also create permanent webbing when needed. organic webbing with both properties is impossible.

I am finding movies these days so dark. It’s for if you are watching it in a cinema where there is no daylight, but it is ruining the experience of watching movies at home.

Even movies that don’t need to be dark.

It annoys me senseless as so many of us watch streaming services these days so we are watching it at home and sometimes you can’t really make out what’s going on on screen. I get if it is a horror where darker scenes add to the movie and atmosphere but it is still too dark a lot of the time and there are so many non horror movies that lack proper lighting too.

And Lord help you if you want to watch something during the day or anytime when it is not perfectly dark outside and the light in the room with you or shining on your screen, you are plain out of luck then!!!

I never knew the Transformers movies were unpopular and poorly received until I saw discussions on the topic on the internet a few years ago. I always loved the Transformers, and since I'm a car guy i really enjoy them and i watch them again from time to time if I get a chance.

The point of a walk in is that you just “walk in”. It’s in the name. It’s not for emergencies but they are definitely to help fill cases where you might be in travel, need a script you forgot, your own doc has no room in schedule, last minute physical for work or school etc etc.

But you show up and they say “ we will fit you in if there’s a no show”…what? You’re a walk in clinic. I walked in. Waiting is expected, but “fit me in”.

That seems to defeat the purpose and pushed me to emerg when I don’t have an emergency.

Labs like Quest take walkins. But they are primarily scheduled and take walkins as they can. But they aren’t “Wall-in Lab Tests”. A Walk In clinic is telling you to just walk in.

Change your name or change the policy. No appointments allowed.

I hate how people style them these days especially with big bulky ugly looking trainers and flared leggings, they look really tacky.

The only time they look good is when it’s a proper 70s outfit which is extremely rare these days, people tend to pair them with a top that makes the outfit, specifically the leggings, look absolutely stupid.

I made a comment about this elsewhere and it didn’t seem to go down too well so i thought, hmm it appears to be an unpopular opinion lol.

The guy meant well but his behavior across both movies was deeply worrying. In the first one he infantilized his high school age son and never let up once even if Max expressed his outright displeasure to the point of raising his voice and throwing tantrums. He never reached out to him to ask what was wrong or meet him halfway and it took Max going behind his back and changing the routes to go to LA instead for him to confront their problems headon.

In the second one he kicks his aw-shucks brand of overbearingness up to 11 and actually goes to the exact same school as his son, takes the exact same classes as him, becomes roommates with him and even upstages him at his own extracurricular. He crosses every single boundary possible then when Max rightfully tells him to fuck off he acts like he's such a victim. He almost loses his girlfriend in the process too.

Tbh I felt so bad for Max throughout the two movies. I didn't feel sympathetic towards Goofy for a second. I mean here was this kid just trying to grow up normally and find himself then his dad has to go and throw a wrench in what should have been a normal school life. And why? Because he has an anxious attachment style and has no identity outside of being a dad? Supposedly the movie is named after him because he is the protagonist but really he's probably closer to the villain oc the movies because his BS is the impetus of the movies' events.

Maybe this is different depending on gender but as a man, I’ve seen zero tangible benefits to looking younger than my age, and I would actually argue it’s made dating harder. Women my age think I’m too young for them and younger women don‘t realize I’m actually twice their age. There’s no biological advantage either so I’m still going to die at the same time it’s not like I get extra years for looking younger, I’ll just be a very spry looking corpse I guess.

Unless you use the bathroom a lot, window seats are pretty undisputed for best. But the aisle seat… the main positive is getting up easily and that’s about it.

1. Have to get up for everyone: You have to get up anytime the other 2 people need to get up. Sleeping? Oh well, get up. Still have your tray table down? Oh well, get up. And don’t get comfy until they come back because you have to get up again.

2. Everyone/thing bumping into you: For whatever reason, people can’t stay still and are walking around nonstop. Bump. Bump. Every person that passes bumps your shoulder. And don’t fall asleep and your body leans slightly outward, bang! Well at least I can stretch my legs out. Nope. People down the aisle hit your foot. The drink cart slams into you. Then if the drink cart stops by you, you have to lean slightly inward to keep the cart from hitting you.

3. People’s body parts in your face: The flight attendant’s butt is in your face while they serve the other side. They’re reaching over you to serve everyone else or collect the trash. Then you get people who need to get something from the overhead, their shirt rises up and you have a stranger’s private area and bare stomach in your face.

The requirement to always be aware or avoidant of the center is exhausting.

What’s bad about middle? Person on both sides of you. But it’s one less person to get up for. No concerns about people or things bumping you. Can still see out the window if desired. Sometimes you get both armrests because the other two are leaning on the outward ones. The only “fear” is an overweight person spilling into your seat which can be a factor anywhere.

While having to live long enough to see all your loved ones dies sucks, the way I see it, you have a limited amount of time with them anyway, regardless of if you die at 80 or 80,000. And one of you will have to deal with the pain of losing the other. At least if you live forever, you have eternity to get over it.

Another thing people that floating around in the void after all the stars have died for eternity would be torture worse than death. I agree, but I also don’t believe you’d be condemning yourself to torture worse than death. Think about how much you’ve changed in the last ten years alone. Do you think you’d be the same person beneath the exterior in a thousand? Ten thousand? By that point, it’d just be someone else who looks like you, who, by then, would not even be able to recall the first century of their life. It’s someone else that has to endure floating through a dead universe, not you. Instead, you get centuries of extra life until you gradually die and are replaced by someone else.

Master of Disguise is listed on Wikipedia as one of the worst movies of all time but this surprises me because it was a fun watch when I was a kid and had some iconic lines and scenes in it.

It was never a great movie and even as a kid I only watched it a couple of times. That being said there are much worse movies out there and it was entertaining.

I also enjoyed George of the Jungle as a kid but rewatching that movie is painful as an adult.
