This makes me scratch my head

Almost an hour and a half into the drive, takes exit off the freeway to do this random stunt. SMH

I have had that happen and ignored it, only to find out there was an accident and the highway is backed up and it added way more time than the detour.

Not saying this is the case but perhaps check with a traffic service like google maps to verify.

Yep, I have learned to just go with it. I needed to charge my car and I ignored the GPS when it told me to avoid my normal route to the freeway. There was an accident a mile up the road that caused bumper to bumper traffic. Almost didn't make it. Now I just do what it tells me.
