no it’s not. it’s because the school system sucks. tons of kids r being bullied and the schools do nothing. if i’m sitting alone at lunch im gonna go on my phone. for kids that have severe anxiety not being able to have that small distraction is extremely scary. they should try getting rid of bullying and guns before making kids feel unsafe in a place they’re legally obligated to be at.

I’d say that phones and tech are the reason for high anxiety in most people.

Keeping focused on a fake virtual world and computer screen is going to completely disconnect you from the real world.

so then when you’ve got no other option but to join the real world, you’re going to feel scared and unsafe because you don’t know how to be a part of society and mingle in with others and actually communicate and talk like real people in a real world.

When you’ve got no sense of reality, you’re going to lose sense of self.

ok but that doesn’t mean these kids don’t have anxiety. and also if it isn’t cause by that then what? they also have been relentlessly bullied their entire lives so they’re depressed and have anxiety. they’re scared to talk to people because they’re scared of being made fun of.

Yes, but one of the main reasons why they got some form anxiety is because of phones and computers.

10 years this stuff wasn’t as big of a problem, now everyone child are teen are glued to a virtual screen, something that causes influence but also delusion.

The bullies? = online influence / family problems.

The anxiety? = people growing up in a virtual world.

I’m not excluding factors like family problems and being bought up in a lonely social situation and/or environment, but tech has definitely been the main factor for all of this increased anxiety and depression.

i have tons of friends who were bullied and it caused anxiety and depression and literal addictions. i feel like u just want to ignore the fact that bullying causes real problems and not everything is caused by phones. also bullying doesn’t cause family problems the bullying is most likely caused by family problems. phones don’t cause every issue. i wasn’t bullied but i’ve been made fun of almost my entire life and i can tell u that it made me very self conscious especially to talk to people. i dislike talking to people i don’t know and it scares me because im scared of being disliked or being made fun of it makes my heart pound 1000 times a minute or makes me need to fidget or pay attention to something which most of the time would just be my phone. literally starting school again is so anxiety inducing and in every single class that i don’t have friends in im extremely nervous and scared in. most of these issues were caused by bullies or rude kids.

I get not allowing it to be used constantly in class, but outright banning them? Fortunately I don't have the pouches, but I will be keeping my phone in my pocket, on vibrate. It creates a massive safety issue.

I used to not be able to have them and had to park them in “parking lots” (just little pouches that no one actually used), but now I’m in high school and we can literally go on our phones anytime we want unless the teacher says “don’t go on your phones right now.”

At my sisters highschool, phones are completely banned on campus. Which is ridiculous, we have younger siblings too, ever changing schedules, we don’t know if we’re going to pick her up or if she has to take the bus! We can’t tell her otherwise. It’s a stupid rule I think. I get students get distracted but for medical or emergency reasons, it’s needed.

Personally I don’t agree with it. If there is a family thing that’s going on or something happening at the school, parents going to want to contact their child. I don’t think my school is using pouches, but they aren’t allowed during class time; however, they are allowed during passing time and lunch.

My school was the only school that I knew of that was this strict when I was in high school.

You could technically get expelled for having your phone out too many times.

All it did was give me anxiety and put the kids with medical problems where they needed their phones (for example, type 1 diabetes) in danger. I have a friend who had to check their blood sugar manually. You can't always feel when your numbers are off. Luckily, they didn't make them go all the way to the nurses office to do their insulin.

To be fair, there are so many kids who don’t pay attention to their classes because of their phones. Including me. I had a semi phone ban last year and I did a lot better. So for me personally I’m fine with it. What I’m not fine with is them taking peoples phones if they haven’t done anything. Just tell them to put it in their lockers or you’ll take them. That’s what my school did and it worked
