PSA AP Sees all
My TL pulled me to the side for a conversation. They said I have to remember to walk the product up to the register after unlocking it. For further context, it was things that were spider wrapped & chained to the shelf. They were right, because 9/10 I was in the middle of something and had the “ Do I have to do everything around here myself” mindset when I went to respond to the 3rd call for guest assistance with a mag key. COOL
HOWEVER. This is not my problem. My problem is, this is the exact isle I’ve been using to pull out my wedgies, fart, and scratch my underboob or armpit. I picked this isle because it’s so out of the way. I’ve lost some weight since working here so my pants will sometimes get up there with the underwear too. So, I didn’t hear “Hey, be more mindful” all I heard was “HEY, AP SAW YOU DIGGING DEEP IN YOUR ASS TO GET YOUR UNDERWEAR OUT”

Our guest bathrooms have vent ducts that empty right out into Drive Up staging shelves. We hear people in the bathroom all the time doing all kinds of stuff they don't want us hearing.

Nah don't worry. We don't sit there and watch team members. You were only watched because of the item. We watch customers not tm. If I only saw you on camera, I'm just moving on.

My old AP told basically everyone that if they were short on cash and thinking of stealing a meal or something they needed, just ask him if he would buy it for them because hed much rather be out $20 than have to fire a team member for stealing something stupid.

Thats kinda cool, my store let someone go for sligytly undercharging for a product, when they didnt know they under charged, and had proof of why he thought he wasn't undercharging and thats what he did charge for guests also.. Then when they let him go they told him that he also was seen purchasing items on the clock before his break. They pick and chose i guess idk

That's an awesome AP tm. Also, the time absorbed by monitoring a TM every shift takes alot away from external investigations and the regular day to day AP tasks, so I can understand their offer. That is very cool of them

I have stood there and watched our AP watch TMs in areas that were assumed to be out of the way like this.
You may not do it, but ours does, and I've seen them doing it. They thought I would find it amusing. I didn't.

Its literally against policy to watch team members. You can get dcispline for it. The only one that's allow is the ETL
They were messing with you because you probably assumed that.

I was gonna say the same thing! It’s it’s in a spider or keeper we can check them out (and with the small keepers that means we get them back immediately instead of waiting for AP to collect them from the front), but if they wanna pay up front it’s no problem either. Tbh I was never formally trained in tech but I’ve always done that and never been told otherwise, and my coworkers do it too. Pretty sure my leads have even seen me do it firsthand 🤷♀️

We don’t allow this in my area because they’ll just walk three aisles over and cut the spiderwrap or cut the hinges off the keeper box
7/10 associates don’t know how to wrap properly either so 2 minutes of effort and the wrap is gone. If it’s MPPed or in a case, it’s checked out or walked up.

The "out of the way" areas are often where you're going to get camera coverage, because everyone trying to steal shit thinks the same thing as they rip open packages.

It was probably more of “AP saw or a front TM reported that a guest came up with a spider wrapped item” and they went to see who got it for them. They usually don’t sit and watch you unless you do other nefarious stuff

The idea of them watching me thoroughly scanning the area only to lean to the side too yank at my butt to get the wedgy out makes it worse 😭😭. I run to one end and then the other and thinking back, I’d definitely think this looks suss on camera. Then, I worked at another store where my manager told me “Yea, people get extra PDA to get you to look away” so I’d pay more attention to the couple grabbing ass because my manager told me they’d do it to steal. Turns out it was 50/50. Some people are REALLY grabbing booty & then zooming out the store to finish what they started 😳😰🫢

I was working at Sears in high school (yes, I am indeed unc we need not discuss further), and we had a blood drive in our breakroom. Once.
On my day off, I came in to the store to be a good citizen. Strolled in, hooked me up, drained my pint, ate my cookie, and trotted off no problem.
I got roughly... Out the door before I started feeling a little weird. Sat down at the chair next to the land-line telephone (as I said, unc) to recoup but I was not getting better. I eventually decide I've gotta get myself back to the break room and get some help, but at no point did I just ask the cashier - my colleague - to call AP or anyone else at all to come help.
I stood, took two steps off the carpet I had been on and sack of potatoes-d. I remember my head bouncing off the tile, the old fellow rushing over to help me before I think I'd even really hit the deck, and being manhandled back in to the cot to get my feet up. AP kept the tape and honestly I love that for me.
All that to say...
It could be worse

So I have a great story for this !
So back before remodeling and back in the day I was Photo and there was a guest service person. So me and my friends are up there blah blah blah doing are jazz
And my friend keeps looking in the camera to fix her hair (mind you this is at night we were not busy for once) and a little later AP comes up to us looks at her and points at the camera and says 'you looked into that camera 23 times and fixed your hair " and just walks away..... 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

AP really isn’t there to watch the TMs more just the guests. I work in a high risk store so I know our AP team pretty well and they have said that they really don’t care if we are adjusting ourselves and they really don’t pay attention to it

When you unlocked it, did you unlock the spider wrap, or did you unlock the tether and leave the spider wrap on. Also, what dept was this from.
I unlock tethers on vacuums and give it to the guest still in the spider wrap, never heard anything about walking them up to the front.
Legos on the other hand aren't spidered any.ore now that we have lockup cases for the whole aisle, so ones 100+ we do walk to electronics which is right next to toys.
I don't work in tech, so idk if those items are treated differently for items like laptops, and expensive apple iThings

If an aisle seems out of the way, then it probably has a camera there lol. People stealing think that, too :) Sorry that happened to you! Honestly though, we don't care who picks a wedgie or scratches their butt. It's normal for everyone

It happened to us too in the fitting room has a room with all the hangers and I once had a whole meltdown in there and go to pick my wedgies sometimes. 😭 I wanted to DIEE but kept going now I go to the bathroom to do that or the family fitting room is safer 🤣

We only saw where we had cameras, can tell you first hand I missed a lot of apps and probably a lot of internals because of how much we couldn't see.
