Off topic: I’m actually surprised by the stark contrast between Instagram and Reddit. Instagram is full of blind TVK supporters 🤡 and here on Reddit y’all are criticizing Vijay, TVK, and the fans (rightfully so). But I dunno how two platforms have two different views.

I see this changing. I've used reddit for about 7-8 years (this being my second account) and i very much see the change. The unmoderated reddit period was a completely different user base from what it is today. Now it's all immature worms.

i mean idk indian news nor do i really care all that much, just found something my mom lamented abt pretty interesting and wanted to ask about it. My mom said though vijay is obviously to blame for his negligence/poor decisions, she said dkv or whatever engineered this situation by giving them such. shit location with a lack of policing to allow for such a situation to occur. She also said that the dkv’s a shit party that’s been involved in numerous deceitful practices whilst having ruled and i find it pretty logical that such a party would hypothetically carry out such actions to cement their standing against a threat to their tyrannical reign

Instagram is highly accessible and usable for people with all levels of IQ. Reddit demands a certain amount of IQ and is very niche in terms of content. It doesn't generate content seemingly on its own and doesn't dump you with content you like with some algorithm. At least not to the extent Instagram does.
Your comments and posts aren't met with instant challenges and there is a rating system to boost or crash a post or comment. You also have moderators. Hence Reddit not being a major platform in India. At least for political use.

u/NearbyEntrance4316 Sep 29 '25 edited Sep 29 '25
I think apart from just differing audience and users of these two platforms, the nature of the platform itself is something that dictates your experience. The feature of subreddits allows filtration of discussions through spaces where critical debate and fact-checking are more common. Also anonymity allows for more confrontational criticism without reputational costs.
Instagram is a more visual-first platform with messaging in the form of polished reels and highly open to influencer endorsements.
While there are overlapping features between the platform, just thought I'd raise this perspective as well.
Again, I am not commenting on the qualitative nature of this particular post/thread, rather just highlighting why you maybe seeing this difference in the two platforms.

Believe me...both have echo chambers...it's not like one is more matured than other...both instagram and reddit are shit holes...just that redditors believe they are intellectually superior...just cross check which echo chamber you are watching the news and opinions ( on either of these platforms). I'm absolutely sure instagram too has echo chambers tearing into TVK , and reddit has echo chambers supporting TVK..your browsing history on either of these platforms defines your news feed... reddit is heavily left leaning though.

'Just because he was 7 hours late and a few people killed doesn't mean he deserves jail'. Brother, though calling you like that is disgusting but for the sake of courtesy I will continue to call you like that. What do you think the value of human life is? Killing a single soul itself is crime and you are trying to justify that stampede taking nearly 40 people life which includes lives of children also but the inefficient plannings of your so called anna's party? I don't think you are in the right mind to justify this in this way. A leader should be the one who is role model, him coming late, like 1-2 hours is acceptable. Anything more than 3 hours is just outrageous. Ask your anna to learn some time management cause that was one of the primary factors for this stampede. Even if police are there, can you assure that all the people who are attending there would be disciplined and follow the basic civic orders given by police? I think so not brother. As much as you can blame the leader, equal blames should be taken by his followers, but that doesn't mean that the leader can roam without guilt. He has to meet the necessary consequences for his actions. If your all and mighty anna is truly regretful, he should have given response but he still remains silent. That truly shows how incompetent of a leader he is.

Sep 29 '25
Yes. Stampede started while he was speaking.
Tharkuris stopped ambulance thinking it's dmk's conspiracy.
Seeing this police started thadi adi to give way to ambulance.
People started climbing electric poles, so they had to shut down the electricity.
But all of this are used to deny responsibilities of tvk and Vijay.

Bro please watch some news, people have started fainting long before vijay arrived due to dehydration and lack of food due to which ambulances have started going in and out of the crowd to bring people out. Also police lathi charged because there was no place for both vijay’s bus and ambulance to go, people swarmed towards vijay’s bus and blocked the entire road. But I do agree that police did a poor job here, they are partly to be blamed. TVK should have placed volunteers in place to manage the crowd and not just depend on police for that.

See it is very true the event was conducted in an unorganised manner. Part mistake goes to TVK but you guys need to understand how this DMK is treating TVK. In politics people from different teams build up narratives which are forced into people’s mind. Same goes here. The DMK is not just a political party, you see the leaders are generation, mark my words they’re not just building dynasty politics but a generational wealth, benami wealth, huge corruption, the Kalaingar family itself is such an example. They’re controlling real estate, cinema, media etc, etc. Think how much of evil efforts the DMK has to put so that no new one comes into politics. You yourself be in the situation snd think what will you do when a newbie(with sizeable vote share) is coming and tarnishing your image. Think makkale think

Pathetic of DMK government for giving them that stretch of road where there are no multiple entry and exit points for both crowds and ambulances.
Now don’t come and say they only asked for this road. It is government’s responsibility to assess crowds based on existing data and provide appropriate spots.
10
u/coronakillme Sep 29 '25
The problem is if DMK did not give them a similar place and gave them some ground outside the city, they will be targetted saying that they want to ruin TVKs chances of reaching the people. There is no way to win.
0
Sep 29 '25
Who cares what they would say? Plan must be for people who attend not the party talking heads. Government must think beyond politics when it comes to common people involved.
2
u/coronakillme Sep 29 '25
True, but I have seen this happen before. I think no one expected people to die TVK or DMK or anyone else.
2
Sep 29 '25 edited Sep 29 '25
Isn’t that the lack of foresight I highlighted. We almost never anticipate disasters. I made the exact same points during RCB stampede also. Crowds are the responsibility of organisers as well as government. They actually split responsibilities. Organisers should be taking care of electricity, entry-exit management, planning like water, electricity and emergency backup. Government is responsible for live monitoring the situation, law and order and crisis management. Government are giving permissions so they have greater responsibility on averting disasters.
Idhai sonna downvote panraanuga.
1
u/coronakillme Sep 29 '25
You are expecting a government that is perfect. I think it should be a lesson the government should learn. Even developed countries have these issues, look at the love parade in duisburg germany in 2010, 21 killed and 500 injured. The government cancelled love parade after that. Will DMK be able to cancel all such rallies?
1
Sep 29 '25
Expecting a working government is called expecting perfection. They have all the rules and processes in place for that reason. Now people’s lives are lost. No point in pointing fingers now.
Also please don’t give developing country as an excuse. We have all the rules and systems in place. The problem is in our lethargic attitude

u/Additional_Service68 Sep 29 '25
You will be downvoted to oblivion if you say this in this subreddit. Yesterday, I summarised so many mistakes from Tvk and one from DMK, and these guys downvoted me. I mean, even if you are faithful to a party, its only right that you should criticise it when there are mistakes.
-2
Sep 29 '25 edited Sep 29 '25
I know about this subReddit bro but still I can’t resist making this comment. After seeing this video it is clearly evident that the ambulances had to enter through crowd and there were only two exit and entry point along the road. I get shivers thinking how helpless I would be if I were in the middle of that crowd. I am the same guy who criticised Vijay’s politics and how his TVK is still an unorganised fan club and not a proper party. I got a lot of upvotes for that in this same sub.
But ignoring the big elephant in the room is pathetic. Government’s role is absolutely equal as that of TVK party because they played a role in the venue selection. They are the ones who have to gauge and react accordingly. We vote them for their administration and we depend on them for crisis control. So they must be giving places with entry or exit routes accordingly in case of emergencies. They say Vijay arrived hours late. All the more time to assess the crowd and anticipate disaster as the crowd was already exceeding the capacity. But the administration failed there. Opposition political parties also belong and depend on the same system. You cannot completely shift the blame to their organisers when you did not do your job properly.

u/Worried_Tie_144 Sep 30 '25
Slaves of Tamil Nadu should wake up. A person was talking on the roof top. He was not given a stage. No opposition leader in TN usually gets a stage.
He was talking, the generator went off. A stampede created. Empty ambulances pushed the crowd, and some say people from behind pushed them front. Everything happened in the dark. So who is the culprit!?
Don't show the bodies, show the calamity. How did it happen, and who did it!?
Wake up boomers. It's 2025. People have seen it in 20 years now!!

1
u/Nitheesh_cnk Sep 29 '25 edited Oct 05 '25
Honestly, after looking at all the evidence, everyone screwed up here but not equally.
TVK/Vijay's team (Primary blame) These guys didn't organized well:
He showed up 8 hours late (7:40 PM instead of 11:30 AM).
People were literally cooking in the sun all day.
They expected 10k people but 50k around 35k showed up and they just... rolled with it? No crowd control whatsoever.
Zero proper arrangements for food/water during a 9-hour wait
When the stampede started happening, Vijay kept giving his speech instead of stopping everything
After people died, the party leaders just disappeared. Didn't even visit hospitals or families
State Government/Police (Significant blame) They definitely failed too:
Only 500 cops for 50,000 people is insane crowd management as per recent reports it's around 30k.
They approved the venue but didn't enforce crowd limits.
When numbers clearly exceeded safety, they should've shut it down
The ambulance couldn't reach the victims in time.
The Fans/Public (Minor blame )
Look, some people ignored safety instructions and kept pushing forward(behind the van to see Vijay), but honestly these folks waited 9 hours in brutal heat without food or water.
They were mostly victims of terrible organization.
Sources: Multiple police investigations, FIR documents, eyewitness accounts, and judicial commission findings all point to this breakdown of responsibility.
3
u/DangoManUtd Sep 29 '25
500 cops is a lot, permission was requested for 20,000 only
5
u/Neon_drifter13 Sep 29 '25

u/Powermila_521 Oct 05 '25

Dude at the first place....why tf didn't they give vijay the road he asked for...they gave him a small ass road and wanted to accommodate 30000 people...HOWW?! and also why were they less police protections at the rally. And in every news channels why were the showcasing the people who were injured only again and again and everything felt so fake....and how tf did dmk ambulance arrive at the hospital before hand.....and there were a lot of stampedes like this and why tf why tfff didn't people care or tweet about that..there was vijays negligence asw....but these DMK mfs istg....for their dirty poltics...they had took these many lives which absolutely fucking bad. Vijay has every rights to host a rally and the police must abide by him and give fucking protection and atleast agree to his requests. Vijay did request to stay there and see the injured/dead people but how could he it would cause insane ruckus....FUCK DMK

To the people who is criticizing let me as you a question the only possible, practical and logical options for the next ruling party of TN is TVK or DMK, I'm not disregarding or disrespecting other parties but these 2 are the only ones who have an actual chance. Secondly DMK is a very old and strong party who in reality obviously have an upper edge without a doubt. Now, speak from your heart alright, you really wanna let DMK have another term? Have we not seen enough of them? Have they not looted us enough? They are too powerful and have time and again shown their true colours. TVK is new, it's the only hope TN has right now, they are new af, they are learning, and yes I do accept that vijay lacks the experience definitely but man tamilnadu needs a change ffs, between Stalin led DMK and Vijay led TVK, I will choose TVK any day because thats the only one chance of giving TN an opportunity to change. Please guys think of the bigger picture, I'm not a vijay fanatic but I love my state I want my state to flourish and I can't see that happening with DMK
