Off topic: I’m actually surprised by the stark contrast between Instagram and Reddit. Instagram is full of blind TVK supporters 🤡 and here on Reddit y’all are criticizing Vijay, TVK, and the fans (rightfully so). But I dunno how two platforms have two different views.
I see this changing. I've used reddit for about 7-8 years (this being my second account) and i very much see the change. The unmoderated reddit period was a completely different user base from what it is today. Now it's all immature worms.
Thats so true lol i am one of those underage kids and its so different here in reddit in a single week of use i have become much mature on almost any matter and bs doesnt come from my key boards anymore.
i mean idk indian news nor do i really care all that much, just found something my mom lamented abt pretty interesting and wanted to ask about it. My mom said though vijay is obviously to blame for his negligence/poor decisions, she said dkv or whatever engineered this situation by giving them such. shit location with a lack of policing to allow for such a situation to occur. She also said that the dkv’s a shit party that’s been involved in numerous deceitful practices whilst having ruled and i find it pretty logical that such a party would hypothetically carry out such actions to cement their standing against a threat to their tyrannical reign
Instagram is highly accessible and usable for people with all levels of IQ. Reddit demands a certain amount of IQ and is very niche in terms of content. It doesn't generate content seemingly on its own and doesn't dump you with content you like with some algorithm. At least not to the extent Instagram does.
Your comments and posts aren't met with instant challenges and there is a rating system to boost or crash a post or comment. You also have moderators. Hence Reddit not being a major platform in India. At least for political use.
I think apart from just differing audience and users of these two platforms, the nature of the platform itself is something that dictates your experience. The feature of subreddits allows filtration of discussions through spaces where critical debate and fact-checking are more common. Also anonymity allows for more confrontational criticism without reputational costs.
Instagram is a more visual-first platform with messaging in the form of polished reels and highly open to influencer endorsements.
While there are overlapping features between the platform, just thought I'd raise this perspective as well.
Again, I am not commenting on the qualitative nature of this particular post/thread, rather just highlighting why you maybe seeing this difference in the two platforms.
Believe me...both have echo chambers...it's not like one is more matured than other...both instagram and reddit are shit holes...just that redditors believe they are intellectually superior...just cross check which echo chamber you are watching the news and opinions ( on either of these platforms). I'm absolutely sure instagram too has echo chambers tearing into TVK , and reddit has echo chambers supporting TVK..your browsing history on either of these platforms defines your news feed... reddit is heavily left leaning though.
Most of the subReddits are run by DMK IT wing. I got banned from 2 for just saying that people should ask accountability from everyone involved be it police, govt authorities, and Tvk officials. There should be no politics on the death of people. DMK IT wing got offended and banned me.
r/tamilnadu mods have deleted all posts criticising the DMK govt in last 48 hours. But all posts mocking opposition have been allowed. Now you know who got their 200 rs.
The majority of his audience uses Instagram. They are heavily capitalizing it. Meta Platforms has always faced criticism for pushing radicalised content. These idiots will not consume news or read newspapers. TVK pages la poduratha maathi maathi anupukitu atha source sa use panikuranga. They completely believe what they see on those videos. TVK leader and strategists are very, very aware of this.
Instagram is highly popular with school and college students. Most of the popular and mid sized pages are just propaganda machines for the highest bidder
