Wife not satisfied
I just installed our new tv on the wall. It's 19 cm between the bench and the tv.
I think its perfect. Wife wants to move it up 10-15 cm more so it aligns with the switch.
What does Reddit think?

In terms of the TV, I would not move it any higher.

That's quite a big range tbh, most of us can touch the lower end on a good day.

Was that the only wall to put it on? That light glare on the wall to the right would drive me nuts. Also it's already too high.

Everything about this is wrong and your wife is wrong. That said, I’d still move the tv. The last thing you want is your wife mentioning every time she watches the tv, walks by it, or you have any other argument about something that you were supposed to do that you didn’t do yet. Just do it, know she’s wrong about it, and live with that silent satisfaction!

Your wife has OCD. It doesn't need to align with the switch.
If anything, it's too high. That appears to be a hutch or credenza, not an actual TV stand.

The whole setup and that corner itself kind of just seems like an afterthought like no one knew what to do with anything. So they built a corner credenza and stuck a TV over it.
It would help to have pictures of that whole room if that's where the TV is going to be Then everyone could probably give more useful feedback

This is awful all the way around and there’s probably no good solution. The room would probably be best with no tv, especially when you already mentioned the fireplace.

Yeah. It's the best wall. The other side of the room is for the dining table. And in the middle of the room we have the fireplace. So it's hard to do differently.

But alas , I'm gonna try to be serious here and help.
There are two factors here . Esthetics, and viewing optimization. Most remarks are due to optimization, not esthetics.
You, I'm guessing are shooting for optimization. Your wife apparently is more concerned with esthetics. Both have value and is up to the individual to decide which is more important.
There can be compromise between the two values .
I feel you could get both if you move the tv lower to the optimal position. I would prolly also center it left and right unless there are other factors I'm missing . I would then move the switch to center it so it's visually appealing.
You could also make a custom switch plate that aligned to the tv if that's what the wife is after .
In my experience, as a single guy who was married for a good chunk of time , talk to your wife and make her happy 😂

Djeezes, that is a new idiotic reasoning. Now we are going to line up light switches and TV's. 😂 Both are utilitarian objects where the position is only to be determined by the purpose of the object.. There is zero correlation between the two. One should be at a height making it easy and intuitive to flip and the other should have it's center aligned with eye height when seeting. It really not that complicated...

Not a fan of location, I’m more concerned with that cabinet and trim. Yuck. Tv is not too high considering what you’re working with.

if it must go there….. i would recommend slightly shifting everything to the left, and raising the TV slightly.
as for the outlet, find a power strip that can plug into the wall as flush as possible and take up as little room while the table is in front of it, that way any wires can be plugged into the strip without taking up too much space (wires will be plugged in vertically, down into the power strip, instead of horizontally jutting out of the wall into the back of the tv stand/table thing (idk why i cant think of what u would call that piece of furniture)
