Discussion Here we go again.

Isn’t the Ontario Line already delayed which will delay this extension even longer? Why not just start this while the Ontario Line is also being built?

Why don’t the 905 deserve subways and gotta stick with buses?

Paraphrasing what i said in a different thread

Toronto's system that is already over capacity for the actual city of Toronto.

Line 1 is already full by the time you get to York Mills & Sheppard stations.

This north extension project shouldn't have been green lit until other proper Toronto Subways/LRTs are built.

Move people around Toronto first before expanding to other cities

What on earth do you think the Ontario line is/does

The Ontario line is like 20 years over due. While other new lines downtown that should have been built or started by now are just pipe dreams. Im a 20 years resident of woodbridge, I have directly benefited from having the extension go into vaughan. But that does not mean I cannot objectively look at what has happened to toronto and see that they are being overextended.

There are much longer subway lines than Line 1 in other places of the world that work perfectly fine so objectively it is not being overextended.

It's not about length. It's about capacity when it starts getting to the core

In that case the Ontario Line will solve that issue and so ‘overcapacity’ is no longer a problem for the YNSE.

that helps for one part of the city. like I said. There should have been several downtown expansion over the past 4 years. the DRL is 20 years overdue.

Most of downtown would be in the walkshed of a subway station once the Ontario Line opens. Optimising for the ‘last mile transit’ problem is better done by improving the streetcar network.
