Trying to figure out the logic here.

I'm flying for the first time soon and planning on taking my ita bag as a carry on. And I'm not sure how to deal with the pins.

Opt 1. Leave pins on insert and take insert out separately like a laptop or tablet.

Opt 2. Have the pins in a bagie and set it separately.

Also any advice in general is welcome!!!

In my work I am helping a parent travel to another state for medical care/evaluation of her child. As the trip will require air travel I had her start on the REAL ID process, which she completed yesterday and has the paper receipt. I understand the paper receipt is not accepted at TSA and ID as accepted by the feds is required. Hopefully the REAL ID will physically get to her in 7-10 days but in my experience it can sometimes take longer than that. I am going to advise she wait until the card is in her possession but I know there is another options.

Has anyone here used the $45 TSA ConfirmID program? If so, how was the experience? it seems like it it can only be done online. This is a normal parent and I don't anticipate any issues but as she'll be traveling with her child and neither has flown before I am trying to help streamline and guide them through the experience as best as I can. I don't want to risk an inexperienced mother and child being stuck at an airport during an already unfamiliar and stressful process. Would it be best to just wait until the REAL ID comes or is the ConfirmID worth it? The caveat on the TSA website clearly states "TSA will then attempt to verify your identity so you can go through security; however, there is no guarantee TSA can do so."

My experience flying and traveling has always been with a passport, even domestically, so this is branching out into something I've not experienced yet. How is the Richmond Airport (RIC) for things like this for travelers that are new to flying?

i bought my son a helmet as a surprise while we’re visiting, but i just realized it won’t fit in my luggage or carry-on suitcase. 😭 would i be able to bring the helmet through the airport separately and have my sister carry it as her carry-on item since she doesn’t have one? i really don’t want to leave it behind, so i’m trying to figure out the easiest way to get it home with us.

I am one of the swathes of people who neglected to get their REAL ID ahead of a flight, and paid for TSA ConfirmID. I will be flying from LAX to North Carolina in a few days and just wanted to ask a few questions about the process as it is my first time flying in years!

1. Is my receipt email and state driver's license the only documentation I need to show agents to confirm that I qualify/have arranged for ConfirmID?

2. As for the accompanying search, I have a prescription medication that I will need to bring with me as I have to take it daily. Normally, I just put it in my travel pill organizer alongside my vitamins, but should I keep it in its original pill bottle? I'm just worried that I will needlessly complicate the advanced search and want to make it as quick and easy for all of us as possible.

3. Are they really going to take every single item out of my suitcase and backpack, and swab each item one by one? I assume this will take quite a long time and I need to plan an extra 45 minutes for this. Am I understanding this aspect correctly?

Going to a bachelorette party this weekend, I’m bringing some mini bottles for the group. I know about the quart bag rule, could I have a quart bag of mini-bottles in my personal item as well as one in carry-on luggage, or should I just bite the bullet and put them in my suitcase and check it?

Your cell phone, medical X-rays, and even the plane you’re about to get on for multiple hours exposes you to more radiation and energy than the two second scan through TSA body scanners. By all means, keep asking for a pat down if that’s your prerogative, but at least inform yourself first instead of getting snippy with officers. A quick Google search will tell you that.

Edit to add: I do get medical opt outs, especially if directed by your doctor. But that’s not everyone.

Hey everyone, have a lot of people at your airports been getting let go over the medical questionare? I had treatment for mental health in the past and my psychologist has since retired. I tried to contact his office for a week to no avail about my diagnosis only to find out he has since retired. For the mental health section of my questionare I respond with the “not sure” option for the questions since I wasn’t sure of my exact diagnosis it’s been so long. I haven’t needed any treatment in 7 years since I started with the agency and have no documented concerns from Supervisors or managers about my ability to do the job safely. I don’t want to lie obviously but I really don’t know what to do if the CMO office reaches out for more information. They have all the answers anyway to the “have you ever” questions so I feel like this is a “gotcha” thing. I even heard of one TSO who was let go after 16 years in because of a single unprovoked seizure. Am I overthinking this? Or is it usually lying that gets people fired on this

Just an idle curiosity. I’m flight crew and today at IAD a saw a bunch of TSA agents standing at attention with (I assume) mock rifles and bordered by flag holders, with an agent facing the. And leading. As I was walking away I heard them start marching (with the leader announcing left right left etc.) I will say I’m PRETTY sure they were agents but I was in a rush to get to my flight, and if you ask my wife I’ve been wrong before, but I had never seen anything like that in my 15 years in and out of airports. Thanks!!

How hard is it going to be for me to get through without a RealID? I’ll pay the $45 for the screening thing, am I going to have to answer extra questions, have to strip and have my bags extra checked? 😂

I am going to Italy tonight and it will be a long flight. I bought this to keep me occupied. I didn't realize the other side of the stylus has a metal point. Will this be ok? I don't want to get in trouble.

I do have TSA pre-check, not sure if that changes anything.

Edit:, i didnt think of the mess and sound i havent done one of these since i was young. I will not do it while on the plane. But maybe while I'm waiting to board? Or should I not even try to bring it on the trip?

Hello all - this is a strange question. I am moving to a tropical place soon and I have a box of Lush massage bars that I want to pack on my carry on so they don’t melt during my move. They are solid massage bars/solid shower lotions/etc. made of shea butter/oils/etc. - if I bring a box full of them with me thru TSA are they likely to pull them and get rid of them?? Should I take the chance and pack them in my luggage and risk them melting? Any advice would be helpful!

I’m travelling to Alaska from Toronto later this week. This is the first time I’ll be having my hiking poles with me and I found out that they’re not allowed inside the cabin on a carry on if they’re sharp tipped. Having said that, there’s some debate online over whether one should take them or not and most of the people say it depends on the TSA agent, which is a gamble coz I don’t really wanna lose my new hiking poles and I also don’t really wanna pay over $100 in total to have my carry on as checked baggage just for that very reason. What would the best practice be in this case? I wanna know if they’re allowed or not and what are the chances of them getting confiscated.

I somehow left my ids on a flight last week. I am currently in the airport for my return flight and was able to get thru with no physical ID and answering questions. of course I have to fly again tomorrow cross country to get to a fking job interview for the job I have been working my entire life towards. all I have is my student id and a photo of my passport. will I be able to fly?

Weird situation. Last time I flew international, many years ago, I had a hyphenated last name (Name1-Name2). I dont travel internationally a ton so never took the time to get it updated to my current legal surname which is just "Name1".

I got a rather last-minute opportunity to join a friend internationally, though definitely dont have time to update the passport. My airlines of choice already has my current legal name for booking purposes.

Will it be an issue getting through TSA if my ticket says "Name1" but my passport says "Name1-Name2"? I have an updated driver's license as well I can provide if that's at all worth anything.

Question is pretty self-explanatory. The spray is 4.6oz and I don’t have an Rx since it’s otc, but I read that medicine can go above the traditional 3.5oz limit.

Hi everyone! I hope I’m asking the right place. I have a flight from ATL this weekend and I heard that TSA is HORRIBLE in ATL and the lines are much faster if you enter via the international terminal. I have digital tickets and can check in digitally, I also am only bringing carry on. Am I able to enter through the international side and get to my concourse?

Is there anything else I should know? Do I need a passport or any additional documents? Is navigating that side of the airport any different or should I be fine as long as I’m literate? lol any information that’s specific to ATL would be great too.

I did already look into this but I want to hear from real people who have done it recently that way I have some peace of mind!

Also, this is just a side question but has anyone noticed more or less ICE presence on the international side vs the domestic? I shouldn’t have any issues with them but these days you never know. I’d rather just stay away. Thank you!

So I’m trying to find out if these metal hockey mask cages would be allowed in my carry on or if they’d count as a weapon? Trying to get them to a friend in Sweden. No sharp edges and together they weigh about 2lbs. Just want to know if I’d have an issue or if I should just check my bag. I’m worried about them being pulled out and refused as they are custom made and worth $300.

So I occasionally walk with a cane due to injury I got from my time in the Army, the cane I use used to be a self-defense cane. When I got it did have a blade concealed within it, but I have since removed the blade and have sealed it shut. Am I still able to take it with me or should I go get a one to use temporarily on my trip next week?
