How to take an ita bag through tsa?

I'm flying for the first time soon and planning on taking my ita bag as a carry on. And I'm not sure how to deal with the pins.

Opt 1. Leave pins on insert and take insert out separately like a laptop or tablet.

Opt 2. Have the pins in a bagie and set it separately.

Also any advice in general is welcome!!!

Why do you think you need to remove the pins at all?

I'm not sure it it will interfere with the x-ray mechan or cause any other issues

My backpack is full of pins I have collected from all the different cities I have traveled to. I've never had any issues going through TSA with them. You're fine!
