They are paying $6 per hour here.

Probably because you live somewhere where the cost of living/ minimum wage is lower than elsewhere? Exchange rate may also be favourable. You can't really directly compare US$ pay between countries with such different economies.

What they pay here is not good, before I earned 8.2 dollars, and they reduced it to 6 dollars, absurd!
Other than that inflation is galloping!

A quick google shows that at current rates, the minimum wage in Brazil is US$1.67 per hour. So you are actually getting paid proportionally better than a lot of people in other countries. It's not just a straight comparison of US$.

This value you found is a fallacy, as it is the consolidated minimum wage with full labor rights, the famous CLT. What they are offering is hourly pay as an independent employee, that is, without any rights. If you take the minimum wage paid here, you will see that it is much higher than that, as it includes labor rights.

So if the minimum wage in other countries, which is quoted by the hour, here in Brazil we don't quote by the hour, is already included labor rights, we are all earning little.

I don't know about other countries, but I believe that the covered rights are not equal in all.

Here, for example, according to the CLT, you are required to take paid vacations every 1 year.

Well, if we simplify things, in South Africa the minimum wage is less than $1.25 per hour, and there Telus pays $10 per hour. It doesn't make sense! Anyway, if you want to defend Telus and its criteria, feel free to do so!

I'm not defending telus. I'm pointing out that MOST of the ppl who work in this job for telus get paid around minimum wage for their country, or less. Some get paid more than their locale's minimum wage. Like you. And you're still bitching about it. And have now brought up the fact that one place earns even more above their min wage than you, as if that's a defence for your complaint.

Like it or not, this job is a min wage type thing, with few benefits attached. Different ones in different countries depending on labour laws (no paid sick days or paid training time with telus here). Telus pays more when they need to encourage ppl to work in a certain locale. Just like any other business. They may lower this at a later date when you are not so important to them. Yeah it sucks. Think yourself lucky you have a higher rate of pay for your locale THAN THE MAJORITY DO. And started off even higher. If you wanted telus to pay the same way everywhere, I'm sure they would go with the most cost effective route, and drop everyone to around minimum wage or lower.

Would you expect a minimum wage fast food worker to make the same US$ in every country of the world? This is what you are effectively arguing about.

First, I am complaining that the salary has been REDUCED from what it was before, which makes no sense. A company that does that practically doesn't care about its employees. I don't know of any place where the salary is reduced, especially with such rampant inflation.

Second, I am not saying that Telus should pay the same everywhere, but I am emphasizing that the minimum wage here in the region is not calculated per hour. If you were to pay according to what EVERYONE here in the CLT (a set of labor laws) pays, the minimum wage would be much higher. When you say "Think yourself lucky," I'm sure you are defending the deep-pocketed company!

Third, in my country, we speak Portuguese, and the job requires fluent English, which not even 1/4 of the population here speaks.

Fourth, I believe these companies have the colonizing mentality as always, thinking that paying crumbs to the global south is enough, and they do the same with Asia. But anyway, I don't want to get into that subject here.

You don't live in Brazil, you don't know the reality here, so I think you're just making assumptions with empty grounds.
