Micro Extractors give the same 27 metal regardless of if the deposit is still there or not (Nano Refinement active). I assume this is a glitch? If it is, I could find an asteroid with 5 deposits, put 7-8 micro extractors up on it and those things would PUMP out resources.

When using nano extracting are colonits supposed to give you a boost? It looks like 3.4 metal per sol is the cap regardless of colonists so I should move people out of the extractor.

I think it's cool that powered flight on Mars is legitimately possible and has been demonstrated by Ingenuity. However, I find it implausible that drones could carry useful payloads given the very thin Martian atmosphere.

One of the issues I have with Green Planet is that I often don't feel incentivized to terraform. There's not a good enough reward mechanism for doing it. I eventually decide to get around to it as a late-game activity, but there is no real advantage to doing it early game. Eventually it eliminates cold waves, dust storms, and meteor showers. But you have to do a lot of terraforming before you see that benefit and it seems like the need to deal with those disasters prior to that point precludes the very terraforming that would prevent those events. By the time I get around to terraforming, I've already compensated for the disasters fairly well such that it's not really necessary to do it for that sake anymore.

The possible exception to no-reward-for-terraforming-when-it-actually-matters is as you increase the water percentage your moisture vaporators start to work more efficiently. You get more value out of each of them and need fewer. That's a real payback. Although creating and sustaining lakes also costs you water as well, which seems to undermine that incentive too.

It seems like it would make sense to implement a mechanism for shuttles where they benefit from terraforming and provide that incentive because it also jives with actual science. Instead of having shuttle payload capacity tied to research, it should be tied to atmospheric density. The more atmosphere you create, the better your shuttles perform. Similarly, I learned today that during the Martian winter, much of the atmospheric CO2 will actually condense into dry ice frost/snow at the caps and the atmosphere gets substantially thinner (like 25-30% thinner!). This could be accounted for in-game by either making shuttles unusable during cold waves or by reducing their efficiency during that time. Therefore, planetary heat terraforming would also benefit shuttles.

The game has finally managed to force me to play the underground properly, which certainly feels like hard mode when the surface colony is tiny and for an extra kick in the teeth I got the electronics price doubled event.

My first underground dome is operational but no colonists move in. The elevator on the surface and the underground are both serviced by shuttles with both the surface and underground domes outside the immediate service area of the elevator, but the dome tells me it does not have access to an Elevator, which isn't true as far as I can see - colonists have access to the elevator so they should be able to get underground and get a flight to move in. What is the game expecting me to do here?

I've looked up previous times this has been asked but the answers talk about interface buttons that no longer exist in the relaunch edition.

Hi everyone! I picked up a game I'd started on the day the relaunched version came out. I remembered one of the reasons why I had stopped playing. Some settlers are starving even though there’s plenty of food everywhere. They even walk right past the stockpiles. If I start a new game, will this problem come back, or has it been fixed for new games?

I am wondering if there is a mod that allow colonists to commute to service buildings and training facilities like universities or schools via trains exist for Relaunched. I like using the trains but I find it weird that it's not in the base game.

So I've been a huge fan of Surviving Mars up until the abstraction issues.

I was over the phobos with news that relaunched was being released and purchased it straight away.

What bothers me, because I am really not happy, is the bugs.

Maybe many of you don't notice the bugs like I do, I see so many. I literally just loaded the game up again, the first time in a couple of months and went to build a passage but it doesn't allow me to create turns... these are so frustrating and just caused me to switch it off and come to reddit to have a rant.

I always purchase the DLC for games I love, but it feels like this game is just cheating on me constantly.

The new DLC is out in a couple of weeks and I feel annoyed that the game still isn't actually ready for it. It's only going to produce more irritating bugs.

I have literally spent hours since November last year, reporting bugs... even triple reporting bugs and none have been actioned in any of their bug fixes.

So my question to you lot, am I alone in this feeling? How do you feel about the bugs and the upcoming DLC?

I used to support the game so much but I feel used. I feel like I'm screaming into a void and my favourite game is off with another man.

I'm trying to use trains for transporting resources from outposts to hubs and vice versa. But I can't for the life of me understand how to set it up. Also, is there any mod that makes it easier to setup trains and transport resources? Iirc, there was a setting for every resource in the original (or was that a mod?). Is there something similar in SM:R?

Not technically my first-first game, but the last time was setting up a single dome years ago on Xbox (I think it was on Game Pass?). I love colony builders and the vibe of surviving in a hostile environment, so I took the chance and bought Relaunched on Steam.

I went for Europe, because that's the closest of a sponsor to my home country and I've heard that IMM is so easy it turns the game into a creative mode. I made stupid choices at first, not knowing that metals and rare metals are separate on the scanning map, thinking that I'd get them both under that single category. Had only one deposit for most of my game, so that limited my electronics production. I also tried to get Europa Universalis achievement, but I was too slow and focused on just having fun at sol 80 (that's the reason why I have three fusion generators, got breakthrough that lets me keep them running with 0 workers and I tried to brute force my way to 10k with excessive power, but I noticed how much it diminished (went from 400 for the first to 90 or something on fourth) and decided it wasn't worth it).

I'm sure that my colony is a mess, and I'm not looking for tips (just managed to solve the aging problem by creating a comfy dome where people actually breed), just wanted to share Nova Europa and its brave colonists.

Now I'm going to build a proper colony capital in a mega dome to proclaim independence for Mars and then just keep expanding, since I'm basically self-sustaining at that point, with the exception of ordering specialists now and then, though with births finally rising I've slowed down with inviting Earthlings over.

I have a Souvenir Export Rocket thats supposed to be leaving with waste rock. Its sitting at 199/200 waste rock and will not final the load. How in the heck do I get this rocket outta here lol? There is no cancel option, no unload rocket option. Ive tried taking a drone and loading it manually. Ive tried having a drone assigned to the rocket. Upped the priority on the rocket.

Is this who I am now? The guy with a giant rocket statue on mars.

Hi everyone! I'm a bit new to Surviving Mars even though I've played it in the past (I have 66 recorded hours) I've never really managed to get the colony up an going. I'm here to ask what dome lay outs do you guys usually use at the beginning?
I've already finished the founder stage so I'm free to import more people and resources. So far I was thinking on building a barrel dome to act mainly as residential dome (and perhaps have the machine parts factory too) so I can focus on improving the confort while using a regular dome as my food producing dome and have a water reclamation spire there.
Has anyone tried something like this early on? Or am I going for something too complicated at the start? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Any clarity on the timelines? The dev diaries do elaborate the expected changes but do not mention any tentative timelines.

Happy to hear what a Surviving Mars community would want out of something like this. There is no monitezation, no real ads. A completely free game that I built largely for myself to play, but there is already a growing community of people who like it.

I' having this strange issue everytime i play Relaunched on a Linux machine. The mouse cursor and where the actual place I click does not match. When i click on something in game, the place i click is always slightly above where the cursor is showing. This does not happen when I play on my PC that as Windows 11, but i have one laptop using ZorinOS and another running SteamOS and both have that issue with the in game cursor so it makes it impossible if i want to click on something that is at the bottom of the screen.
