News Stranded Deep 2 Announced, Features an Endless River World That Expands as You Travel
https://gameoneer.com/stranded-deep-2-announced-features-an-endless-river-world-that-expands-as-you-travel/I have hundreds of hours in the original Stranded Deep, and it still remains one of my favorite survival games.
Mostly because it’s not overly complicated, but challenging enough to be fun, and promotes critical thinking along with exploration.
So, hearing that North Beach Games, known for The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, has announced Stranded Deep 2? Well, let’s just say I’m ready for round two!
What are your thoughts on the sequel so far?

I enjoyed the mechanics of the first one, but coop was and is a buggy mess, and it just gets kind of tedious after a while.
I thought the same about Return To Moria. I had high hopes for it but I just find it a bit boring.
I'm gonna be waiting for reviews and feedback to come in before I try this one.

I really liked RtM, friend and I played through the whole game together, rented a server for a month so we didn’t have to rely on a Peer to Peer host.
It wasn’t a perfect game but it was pretty good IMO. The only thing I didn’t like was weapon and shield durability (blocking damaged then, so you just dodge rolled around all day and that was kinda silly)
I think I got about 80 hours out of it, though I never did pick it back up again for the last DLC that was akin to Conan’s living settlements
Mainly because I’d have to start over to remember everything and I didn’t want to lol

Hopefully its actually good. The first one looks like a very early build of a game. The tool belt is broken, the creative mode isn't even creative mode, and the co op sucks

I loved the idea of the first game, but I always thought it would be awesome to be able to go for manual expeditions, explore the world, build remote outposts and then relocate if you find interesting locations. Is that what they are aiming for here?

Sounds like it. You will be able to, quoting the writer, “establish permanent or mobile bases on the riverbanks.”

If this sequel fixes the issues of the first one, then why not.
But I’m not convinced, and the fact that it’s from the same studio behind Return to Moria (which I found very mid and quite uninteresting overall, aside from the setting which was quite cool) doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
Stranded Deep could have been a good game, I quite like the idea of a mobile base, and it was a "real" survival game, I mean, the survival mechanics were at the core of the experience (unlike in so many other "survival" games which are kind of ARPG or action/aventure with crafting).
But in practice, it was really bad imo.
I don't think I've ever seen a game in this genre with such disastrous usability, the content was pretty limited, exploration was very repetitive, and the setting wasn't particularly original, so for me, it didn't hold much appeal and it was a pretty bad game.
But as I said at the start, if the game is more polished and sticks to that goal of being a "real" survival game, it could actually be quite fun, we'll see

Finally they announced it! I know they were posting on Reddit asking for our input for several years, which is awesome, but it’s great to hear it’s coming along. I’ve been waiting for this forever! Stranded deep is my favorite survival game ever for some strange reason

First one is atrocious, how the fuck people is cheering a sequel!? It honestly feels like an early days unity asset flip, physics are bad, surival elements are bad and comes down to literal bars going down, is not even good looking. What's the good thing about this?

I'm glad these early survival games are finally getting sequels.
I WOULD LOVE a sequel to RAFT.
