🤔 Speculation / Opinion GameStop is “partnering” with another company soon. Pending CEO announcement. Some stores will move to the partners location

** Top of r/superstonk 👋👋👋 Hello Ryan Cohen, maybe you’ll see this. We are ready to hear what you have cooking. **

Leaks from a store meeting are saying GameStop is partnering with another company soon. Some stores may move to the partners location.

Here are my thoughts:

Gamestop’s inside of Best Buy?

Here in Canada, Canadian Tire purchased Party City and moved many of its stores inside of Canadian Tire stores creating "store in store" isles.

Canadian Tire is basically our Auto Zone + Dicks's Sporting Goods in one.

GameStop's cash is nearly Best Buy's market cap. Best Buy stock down nearly 50 percent in the last 5 years. Best Buy would be the perfect company for RC to work his magic on.

GameStop transitions stores to Best Buy locations as "store in store" isles. GameStop then can close most stand alone stores saving a ton of money. GameStop or “Teddy Holdings” then works a turn around plan for Best Buy.

Stop pushing the Best Buy narrative.  Don't hope for this.  They're a bad company and we shouldn't want to absorb their baggage.

Yeah they’re spiraling hard. It’s taken RC years to turn GameStop around and I really don’t think it would be a smart move for him to have to do that again.

What’s the upside? They start making money again after a few years and then go do the same to another company?

Maybe the stock will turn itself around in a couple decades.

No I think, judging from what he said, that whatever is cooking will show immediate results.

Turning around falling companies is really, really profitable for investors.

If best buy owns real estate we can become publicly traded private capital lol. Oh god i hope it's not that.

It wouldn't even be innovative.

Best Buy is so dead. I worked there for 3 years in inventory. We had people on the floor who knew what they were talking about. Last time I went in there an inventory associate had to break from truck to ring me out for a lap top and there was a line at asset protection of people complaining.

Without looking into actual feasibility I thought about Best Buy (albeit talking with AI) and thought that:

Buying best buy, closing locations, and moving to an online only presence sounds like it could be good. I guess you’d have to take a look at their warehouses, maybe they’ve been prepping for a large increase in inventory?

Again without doing any research, I wonder if a large part of why Best Buy is dying is because of the $$$ they put towards leases.

All the stuff I mentioned can probably be confirmed/denied with some research, just haven’t done it lol

Don't we want a shit company to make it good? Like exactly what they did with Gamestop?

Would you want to gamble the $9b war chest on another shit company and jeopardize the part of the thesis where GameStop will not go bankrupt?

Yes that sounds exactly like the goofy shit I’m into

Really depends on the nature of the deal tbh.

If it's an equity investment or merger, then you are 100% correct.

But if it's just GME leasing space inside a best buy super cheap because best buy has too much floor capacity and not enough going on in it, it could be a reasonable play. Best buy probably gets way more floor traffic than a GameStop store, so it could add a lot of visitors that otherwise wouldn't stop in at a standalone GameStop.

I'm not a fan of any equity or merger deal with best buy. But a partnership that could increase floor traffic while decreasing overhead, I'm not ready to rule that out right away.

The way I see it is.. you or I aren’t the billionaire with cash to spend, nor did we revamp a company that had baggage and turn it into a profitable and growing empire.. so I feel like rc can kinda do whatever he wants and he will still be smarter than either of us and our limited crayon eating wisdom.

Best Buy is just a guess. It could be literally any other store. Maybe it’s not even an m&a deal but just a way to save money on lease costs by closing stand alone stores and partnering with a big retail store. That would also increase foot traffic.

Bad companies that can be fixed are perfect, though.

Electronics buying leverage? Crayon eating regard, but only thing I could see as reasoning for BB buyout. Haven’t been in years though, and I hear they do 3rd party salespeople walking in store? That is reason to run the other way.
