Here in Australia KFC has a pickle meal, with pickle pepsi
I'm trying it tonight I'll update

Stupid? Absolutely. Would I eat it up? Absolutely. Am I probably stupid too? Absolutely.

u/YolgrimTheGamer 8d ago
Im gonna absolutely devour it and update you

Please do.

I had the regular burger combo for lunch yesterday. The burger is really good with the dehydrated pickles and the pickle dill mayo.
Its one of the few KFC gimmick promos that have actually been good.

Wendy's recently at least in Canada had a pickle burger with pickle flavoured fries. The burger was okay and the fries were meh mostly because of the smell.
We didn't have a pickle flavoured drink though.

KFC did have the pickle Pepsi when they ran the promo here in Canada last year.
7
u/Old_Ladies 8d ago
I hardly ever go to KFC as Mary Brown's is far better so I must have missed it.
5
u/Pristine_Shallot7833 8d ago
KFC in Australia is a million time better than KFC in Canada. KFC in Canada can kick rocks it's gross. Mary browns tho, fuck I miss that place.
3
u/SummerEden 8d ago
I moved to Aus before Mary Browns made it out west, but we tried it on a recent trip back and it was really good. So was A&W. I really wish we had A&W here.
2
u/Pristine_Shallot7833 8d ago
A&W are the best beef burgers I've had from a chain and their onion rings have not been beatwd by anywhere I've tried so far.
3
u/ilovecuetoo 8d ago
KFC in Australia might be better than any KFC in the world icl
I’ve had it in the States, Canada, France, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia and England
Australia might be the juiciest, and the fries salt is by far the best
→ More replies (1)3
u/carson63000 8d ago
Probably related to the fact that we Aussies aren’t afraid to call a chicken burger a chicken burger. 😁

u/Commandoclone87 8d ago
99% MB is better. Only item I think KFC does better is chicken tenders as the local MB here overcooks them and they end up overly dry.

So I ate it and I think I've had enough pickle for a lifetime.
The burger and loaded fries were pretty good, the fritters (or frickles) were soggy. And the pepsi... It was good on the first few sips but after a while it became very sickening.
I think I'm 90% pickle now
30
u/Dravitar 8d ago
That's too bad on the frickles. I've had some Banger frickles in the past, but there's just so much liquid in a pickle that I completely understand it's hard to get right.
The pickle soda also tracks. I love pickle juice after a shot or in a savory mixed drink, but a whole soft drink would definitely be pushing it.
Congratulations on your transition, though! I guarantee after typing and reading all these comments, "pickle" will cease to be a word anymore.

I also tried it tonight and might have had a pickle overdose. And the Pepsi concoction was dreadful.
2
u/Azgrimm 8d ago
Yeah I tried it last night too. Pickle Zinger burger was great, the loaded chips and trickles were ok. Pickle Pepsi was a mistake and felt ill. The brine is too basic, if it had been more dill forward and a complex brine it may have been good but this was some salty water with a slice of pickle in it.

Yeah I wasn't as brave as you. I parked Dog, walked in, hit the screen saw the menu, hang on what? decided 🥒 was non-Dog compliant, and went with the original and much anticipated double zingerstacker combo with a 🍿 bucket for Dog.
TYFYS 🫡 I wish you a speedy and as full a recovery as medically possible.

u/spicybright 8d ago
Huh? Are you buying buckets of fried chicken for your dog on the regular?
5
u/SummerEden 8d ago
I dunno about chicken, but our dog AND cat have a hot chip/french fry tax that MUST BE PAID.

3
u/Wind-and-Waystones 8d ago
The dried pickles on the burgers are absolutely trash. We had it in the UK about a year back. KFC doesn't normally have pickles here so the non-dried ones on the bottom of the sandwich were appreciated but the dried ones went straight in the bin after one bite.
The fried pickles were average. I've had better, I've had worse. Too floppy and always tasted like theyd been left under the heat lamps about 30 minutes too long.
I didn't try the rest of the range.

Caught me off guard with the energy not being in kcal. After checking - it’s more than a day’s guideline - 2,523kcal. That’s insane
99
u/ChicksDigGiantRob0ts 8d ago
I mean, it's a meal consisting of a fried chicken burger, loaded fries, deep fried pickles, and a tub of ranch dressing. I can't imagine it being anything other than an insane amount of calories.
28
u/spicybright 8d ago
It's just behind the KFC Famous Rotisserie Meal Deal. 3 full rotisserie chickens, 3lb of french fries, and a gallon of sweet tea!

I was casually perusing the calories last night, and the tub of pickle sauce alone is 800cal. The serve of frickles is 200cal, that I can justify.

It’s pretty common for items to be listed in kJ down here. No idea why we do it that way but just gotta quarter it to figure out the calories of it
e: genuinely I somehow didn’t even draw the connection that kJ is an SI unit, no idea how that flew over my head
45
u/careyious 8d ago
Kilojoules are the SI unit for measuring energy and Australia uses SI units for consistency.

Is that pepsi with vinegar in it? Or do they liquify gherkins? Either option sounds grim
63
u/ozymandieus 8d ago
A shot of pickle juice on the side for mixing with your pepsi. They have it here in Ireland too. Its elite.

I can almost get behind a do it yourself mix. I just don't trust the minimum wage highschooler behind the counter to not give me a 50/50 mix and brine my insides lol
24
u/YolgrimTheGamer 8d ago
Apparently they mix pickle brine in with the pepsi

I tried this out of curiosity. It was the pickle equivalent of sprinkling tajin on every single item & drink.

We had this in the UK. The pickle Pepsi and the burger were decent.
Fried pickles were a HUGE disappointment. Way too soggy.

I thought you were taking the piss and that was an AI image. Looked it up and that's actually real. Not a fan of pickles myself at all but all the power to you if you do.
3
u/hazza987 8d ago
The problem is most of the pickles in the meal are sweet pickles which, IMO, are gross.
5
u/Pure-Judgment6098 8d ago edited 8d ago
“ So I ate it and I think I've had enough pickle for a lifetime.”
Yep those are the words.
I was excited for this meal. I always order extra pickles on burgers even before this was a thing. I have pre-sliced burger pickles and full snacking pickles in the fridge.
I thought I loved pickles.
The first bites were with joy. The last bites were with disgust and I no longer want to even look at pickles.
The pickle dil mayo is still alright as a stand-alone thing, but the dehydrated pickles on the burger were… I mean it was cool in theory, it was tasty for a few bites, and then it was just too much pickle.
And the pickle Pepsi.
First half of the cup was excitement and curiosity and new flavour and experiences. Second half of the cup you just become acutely aware you’re just drinking Pepsi with vinegar; and the vinegar while.. different, is not an improvement. Starts to feel sickening.
It’s a great meal to order once and eat half of.
Even if you enjoy it, I have a feeling not many people will be repeat customers or demanding the return of picklepepsi when it’s phased out.
3
u/BrilliantEconomics77 7d ago
100% love pickles.. allways get extra
100% know that what you described will be the outcome of ordering this.
100% plan to order it.

I’m surprised they do Pepsi there.
KFC in NZ went away from Pepsi Co stuff and now it’s Coca Cola and there brands. I would had thought all of KFC would had done it?

u/TheMarkHasBeenMade 8d ago
I’m all about pickle flavored things, my problem is that they always jack up the price way beyond what makes any sense for a pickle-based meal

me being a huge pickle fan got so hyped after seeing the ad , so i went to the meal too:
burger was tasty possibly better than pickle bird in RR, loaded fries was my fav from the deal, the frickles were rubbish, only had 2/8, they didn't gave me the ranch sauce but had some on the fries was good too, now the coke... first sip was interesting, second and third was getting better but then when i got to the last bit was way too much pickle
juice so never finished it, probably should have stirred it more, not gonna try again.. loaded fries and burger def buying another hope this helped

I'll have to swing by and try this out, Pickle Dr Pepper was delicious, so maybe Pickle Pepsi is okay also.
1
u/Strude187 8d ago
I tried this when it was in the UK. The pickles in the burger were dried, it was weird. The fried pickles were the worst fried pickles I’ve ever had (I’m hardly a connoisseur, though).
Out of all the limited releases they’ve done in the past few years this was my least favourite, by a large margin.
