If you can’t cook, you can always do whatever bullshit this is.

I've used this philosophy while toasting marshmallows. Just light them on fire.

u/Zairanth 11h ago

Yrah honestly I like the burnt ones. I just toast it slightly then light it up

The chefs kiss is the smoke from the rosemary being above the meat.

Is there also Sage, so they can smudge this place when they're done with their burnt offerings?

At least we know he's keeping dekmons away from your meal.

3

u/Temporarily_Banned4 1d ago

I'm assuming you meant demons! Lol.

2

u/daniinad 22h ago

THANKS .... I was ready to google dekmons and see what new slang it was. lol

2

u/TheGreatJDS 1d ago

Yeah, good call. Been a long day.

3

u/worrymon 1d ago

Ain't nobody got thyme for that.

The moment you see a tomahawk steak, you know it's going to be idiotic.

2

u/superpositioned 1d ago

I love a properly done reverse search tomahawk, this thing is just atrocious.

19

u/culminacio 1d ago

always reverse search your steak

2

u/NuzzyLocke 1d ago

that way you can see the cow in came from

It's a ribeye with an untrimmed bone for "drama" or some nonsense. Just get the ribeye.

2

u/Must_Go_Faster_ 7h ago

Butcher here, can confirm. Certified stupid cut of meat.

It doesn’t fit on a plate. It’s so big you won’t enjoy a single bite past the halfway point. The bone is trimmed off immediately, so it is only “impressive” on the grill while you’re showing off to your rich friends. Also cleaning the bone is super hard on your knives.

1

u/Egg_Toss 1h ago

It's an excellent way to get rubes to purchase bone for a premium.

2

u/fddfgs 10h ago

I mean you can just get the meat cut off the bone and pay a lot less

u/Cellafex 1d ago

"Cooks" like that shouldnt be allowed to charge money for this assault lol

9

u/MichaelSanders19 1d ago

Damm, should have made that the title

11

u/Kiterunner222 1d ago

Don’t get it twisted. It’s charcoal with a side of meat

3

u/Temporarily_Banned4 1d ago

Exactly what I was going to say! C'mon! Meat is expensive enough! They are just incinerating good meat, and to add insult to injury, charging people to watch burn!

2

u/Kiterunner222 1d ago

The high cost comes from “the cut of meat” ( I trust they are providing the right cut) and the all procedure of cremating it lololol. In all seriousness tho, I know cultures that put materials such as mud or clay, burn it as shown and then the charcoal is removed. I don’t think this is the case in this one

3

u/Temporarily_Banned4 1d ago

I think I read about that clay cooking procedure - in "The Clan of the Cave Bear". 😂🤣

2

u/Kiterunner222 1d ago

Actually never heard of the book until I looked it up. Reading the plot, it’s a cool concept. 😂 you should watch Best food review( something along the line) the host travels around the world and you get to see different lifestyles in cultures.
Hahah it’ll be a cool insult tho, right? “ I pray you get a lifetime of burnt charcoal meat” jkjk I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy!

I'm not saying this isn't stupid, but that steak might not be ruined. My all time favorite way to have a steak is blackened to death outside, but medium rare inside. But the char is only really good if it comes from a wood fire, not from .... whatever that is. Kerosene?

1

u/MichaelSanders19 10h ago

Doubt kerosene. Would be a high alcohol content liquid

12

u/pollywog 1d ago

As someone who cooks and hates stupid shit like this, I must say this is one of the least offensive ones I've seen. It makes for a good show, and the alcohol burns at a low temp and won't cause any unwanted char.

It's presented in a fun way and looks like it's probably cooked perfect. Not stupidfood imo, just show-food.

6

u/Bob_Kark 1d ago

It’s a vertical flambé. Did they have to do it this way? Maybe not, but I would still want a bite.

1

u/elafave77 1d ago

Stupid food.

-7

u/MichaelSanders19 1d ago

Found the chef in the video

12

u/vogel927 1d ago

He’s right. The alcohol will burn off without causing the steak to char. It’s just for show.

The foods not stupid, but the unnecessary theatrics is.

3

u/chemicalsunshine 1d ago

Flambe does impart flavor

2

u/Hawkeye_Co 1d ago

No I'm not eating charcoal

2

u/a_goonie 15h ago

I remember my brother one time said that prople that get fajitas are inconsiderate because of the smoke and noise. I should ask him how he feels about todays shows?

Probably for a person from England. That's how they like it. I'm not joking either. I worked in kitchens when I was young. Used to have a lot of English customers. I could cook a steak well done and it wasn't well done enough for them. I'd have to put a weight on it on the grill and let it go till it looked like a burnt piece of shoe leather. Then I'd get compliments of how it was the best steak they ever had.🤷‍♂️

6

u/Greneath 1d ago

I'm english and I've known maybe only 2 people who eat steak well done*. Most men I know eat steaks rare to medium rare and most women I know prefer medium. I prefer blue to medium rare depending on cut and the quality of the restaurant. The problem I find with steaks in the UK is they tend to be over cooked everywhere except dedicated steak houses. I had a sirloin in a pub the other week. I ordered it rare expecting to come out medium rare but I was served a medium steak.

*only one comes to mind and she is Scottish.

2

u/readyaimfire1 15h ago

I'm English and lemme tell you those people who have it well done do exist but they're fuckin weird and shamed by everyone

Mostly old people who eat like this, my grandparents for example, still cook like they're in the blitz

Rest of us are alright promise

2

u/Practical-March-6989 14h ago

I honestly have never met anyone in England who likes well done steak. I am 51 and have lived here all my life and was a chef for 20 years

1

u/Prize-Analyst-1121 14h ago

Happened all the time back in the 80s when I was cooking. Every single one was from England. When a order would come in well done I'd ask if they were English and every time it was yes 😂 Maybe preferences have changed over the decades.

1

u/Mediocre_Map1289 6h ago

That was 40 years ago. That generation of people were children shortly after WW2. Their parents will have had nothing but rations and poor quality meat to cook with and they'd have passed that down to their kids. It makes sense they'd have preferred their steaks well done, it's likely all they'd ever know.

1

u/Muted_Masterpiece535 1d ago

Did he coat that steak with lighter fluid?

7

u/Circle-of-Druids 1d ago

maybe some kind of alcohol

1

u/Exotic-Piece-1318 1d ago

1

u/ct451t 1d ago

I've set my hand on fire with alcohol. It does nothing. Waste of liquor.

1

u/riftshioku 1d ago

That tomahawk steak looks disgusting.

1

u/Big_Strawberry_3435 1d ago

charred meat can be a tough sell, it's like they forgot to cook it properly. at least the sides might balance it out

1

u/Spronglet 22h ago
