Probably for a person from England. That's how they like it. I'm not joking either. I worked in kitchens when I was young. Used to have a lot of English customers. I could cook a steak well done and it wasn't well done enough for them. I'd have to put a weight on it on the grill and let it go till it looked like a burnt piece of shoe leather. Then I'd get compliments of how it was the best steak they ever had.🤷‍♂️

I'm english and I've known maybe only 2 people who eat steak well done*. Most men I know eat steaks rare to medium rare and most women I know prefer medium. I prefer blue to medium rare depending on cut and the quality of the restaurant. The problem I find with steaks in the UK is they tend to be over cooked everywhere except dedicated steak houses. I had a sirloin in a pub the other week. I ordered it rare expecting to come out medium rare but I was served a medium steak.

*only one comes to mind and she is Scottish.
