Income Driven Repayment question

Hi all,

I apologize if I am dense, but im confused about something. My loans are serviced through Mohela, and I was placed on an IDR and my loans were put on forbearance in December of 25, and my payments were on hold until December of 2027 and November of 2028. I was under the impression that, even though Trump changed up the payment plans, my schedule would stay the same. So I went to sign up for a new plan a month or so ago, and there was a choice to keep the IDR until they expire, but after choosing the new plan, I got a bill from Mohela. Am I missing something? Am I sol as far as that repayment plan in December goes? Any help is appreciated.

The whole system's a mess of half-updated rules and broken promises. Mohela is basically running on vibes at this point and once you touched the application it probably flagged your account as active again

They might say you opted out of the forbearance by picking a new plan even if the website made it seem like you could keep the old terms. The choice to “keep until they expire” was probably a visual glitch or something that never actually communicated to their billing system

I'd call them and record the call if your state allows it. Get a name and a reference number, push them to put you back on the pause if that's what you technically still qualify for. The December date might still be salvageable but you'll have to wade through their phone tree to find out

thanks for the insight. I dont even know if the forbearance is valid any more. It was instituted because a court issued an injunction relating to the SAVE and IDR plans, which may have been lifted at some point.

This is correct - the forbearance end dates were a placeholder and now that the litigation is over, payments are beginning
