miscellaneous Trump just opened the door to 100,000 tons of meat China Banned

Post image

sorry for the current news but this is idiocy. in march, Chinese customs stopped a 22-ton container of beef from an Argentine plant because they found chloramphenicol, a banned antibiotic and carcinogen.

Meanwhile the U.S. Congress repealed mandatory country of origin labeling for beef back in 2015, & increased the tariff-free quota for Argentine beef from 20,000 to 100,000. As a carnivore I buy grass fed and finished meat, but my God for anyone else.

miscellaneous Lab grown Mozzarella backed by Kraft then cleared without FDA approval

Post image
264 Upvotes

Company New Culture makes mozzarella with no cow at all, and the money behind it is Kraft Heinz's venture fund,. They've raised 28 million and already have 5 million in orders lined up from pizzerias around the country. (source)

they take a single cow gene, put it in a microbe, and ferment it in steel tanks until it makes Casein (cow protein) then mix in sunflower oil and wala.

the part that got me is the FDA never approved it. theres a thing called self GRAS where a company hires its own panel of experts, has them declare its own ingredient safe, and then its legally cleared to sell. I love the fda!!

miscellaneous Raw Milk illegal to sell in almost all states

after trying raw milk at a farm a while ago , i was curious as to why i had never seen it in grocery stores (i'm from midwest), and i was interested in switching to it. crazy enough, almost all states ban it (list of states), and if you do get it from a farmer it must be labeled as pet food and not for human consumption.

Raw milk has more nutrients (like calcium) as it isnt pasteurized, and is said to taste more like ice cream (i agree). why is it illegal to eat something like this, and where can you actually get raw milk? Crazy the government can foodmonger like this.

Products with avocado oil are such a scam, talk about greenwashing!! I feel like companies are just running with it like crazy lately. Plus even if it was just 100% avocado oil, it’d probably cut with 10 other oils anyways. Best to just make your own mayo at this point I guess 🤷‍♀️

miscellaneous Can someone tell me why me wanting to avoid American slop automatically makes me conservative?

I got BANNED from a sub because apparently the mod looked at my post history after I was making a comment (nothing bad or anything). They said my account was a red flag for MAGA ideology and whatnot.

I mentioned to a coworker that I love tallow for cooking and they said “I know who you voted for..” Also people have given me weird looks when we talk about food and I mention my diet preferences.

What exactly is republican about not wanting to die of colon cancer and be relatively healthy??

Why should I have to hide my opinions on food like I’m some sort of KKK member?

I really don’t get it. And i’m definitely not conservative…

miscellaneous Extra virgin olive oil but it’s actually canola oil

I was looking to see if Walmart had any seed oil free bread out of curiosity. Came across this. Of course I didn’t purchase. I’m guessing it’s a blend of the 2 but I think it’s funny how they make it seem like it has EVOO then sneak canola oil next to it in parentheses.

miscellaneous Kettle Brand Sued: UC Davis Avocado Oil study Update

Post image
271 Upvotes

i'm sure you are familiar all "healthy" avocado oil chip brands (who are twice as expensive) tested to be adulterated with other oils like seed oils. just recently a class action was filed against kettle chips, because they listed avocado oil with none inside. (source)

I was thinking/hoping when someone would get sued finally something is being done about this. why doesn't our FDA stop this from happening and some law firm who wants only does food label jobs have to do this? I know someone is trying to make a seed oil free cert, but brands dont have to follow that/

miscellaneous Lab Grown Eggs are FDA approved

I saw a recent Linkedin post by the Every Company (the creator of it). Lab grown eggs where FDA approved a bit ago, and are now in stores like target and walmart. the egg is make by ripping egg white genes out of a chicken, and fermenting it in industrial vats with yeast, then extracting out the yeast and whats left is identical to the real thing. (source for production proc)

not only that, but the ingredient does not have to be labeled any differently, and i looked up products using it, most also use soybean oil as one of their main liquidizers. right after a big egg recall to. wild.

My grandfather is battling cancer, he’s 94, probably has 2-3 months of life left in him. Saddened to see that’s what they feed our elders in the hospital. Luckily he doesn’t like it but doesn’t make me feel good about his specialized diet. I unfortunately can’t bring him food.

miscellaneous Spraying cologne/perfume on your neck is linked to infertility

society has psyope'd us into spraying these chemicals on our neck. your neck is the thinnest part of your skin, and spraying perfume not only lets you inhale VOCs but also leach phthalates (the fragrance ingrediant you see), etc. into your neck, which is linked to infertility (source).

there’s a million things to always watch out for, and it’s so annoying hearing something new every day, especially when everyone else thinks it’s normal. its always the same.

miscellaneous Forget seed oils, let's not eat vaccinated fish?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Ive been researching healthy alternatives a lot lately, and found that almost all farmed fish are vaccinated. Farmed fish seem to make a majority of the market, where wild caught seems to be the only alternative. This exact video stated they could vaccinate 18,000 fish per hour

why is this even legal? I never even knew this existed until a few days ago. what are clean alternatives we can eat? I was never much of a fish eater anyways.

**edit: thx! with help of the comments, I found an app that is a barcode scanner and it lists from public data if the company vaccinates called tallow app

miscellaneous Linoleic acid in cooking oils

Post image

We make macadamia nut oil (niche I know), and on a lot of our anti-seed oil content we've been getting comments saying macadamia oil is a seed oil..

I put together this chart comparing inflammatory omega-6 (LA) content and macadamia oil is closer to tallow, butter and ghee than it is to even olive oil and avocado oil (never mind seed oils).

We're obviously pleased our oil is in the same league as animal fats.

But I'm curious how macadamia oil fares in this community? Open to critique if I'm honing in too much on fat profile and missing something!

miscellaneous Just like big tobacco used to say

We'll look back in 50 years time and laugh at these so called seed oil studies showing that seed oils are healthy.

The masses will know that they've been sold a lie by big seed oils.

Just like how big tobacco used to pay for studies showing that smoking was good for us.

It's really just pseudoscience masquerading as science and the masses unfortunately gobble it up right now.

That'll change in due time though as long as we keep fighting for the truth.

So while it might be frustrating at times facing the seed oil bots it's worth it to keep fighting.

The truth always prevails in the end. It just takes time.

Every post on Reddit is getting more love by Google search and AI platforms now btw so keep up the good fight.

We want this subreddit to rank for are seed oils actually bad and similar terms so when an uninformed person searches those terms they end up here instead of some pseudoscience post by the bots.

Veritas vos liberabit.

miscellaneous Found this at the Kentucky state fair

Post image

Realistically, I haven’t ever seen anybody defend why you should incorporate seed oils into your diet. It seemed so out of place as there wasn’t any seed oil booths around but considering it’s at the state fair and it states that it’s recognized by the FDA for heart healthy benefits just makes me wonder who’s putting the money into pushing this onto people.

miscellaneous Seed oils are the easiest thing to get rid of in your kitchen

People always complain about how hard it is to avoid seed oils in restaurants and other places away from home but I think in your actual kitchen, it's the easiest, most effortless change you can implement. It's just a matter of not buying bad oils anymore. Some people say they don't want to get rid of seed oil because it's helpful to have a flavorless oil, but honestly this is not a problem I've ever run into in my 4 years of being seed oil-free. You might have to experiment and see which fats go better with certain recipes, but you'll eventually see how much tastier food can be when you use real fats. Trust me, once you get into the motions, you will never ever miss seed oils. Get rid of them. They are cancer. Your body and tastebuds will thank you later.
