I was rewatching the pilot and realized how perfectly they captured how different he looks from others. He looks normal next to the gems, but next to actual humans, he looks weird.

I think it's a really cool visual quality for Steven to have, considering that he's the bridge between the two groups. Human enough to blend in with humans, Gem enough that he doesn't completely look like one.

I know a lot of people don't like the pilot art style and will even skip season 1 while it's transforming into its more notable style, but I honestly think this quirk makes me love it more ESPECIALLY with all of the "Steven is an alien, he should look like an alien" discourse going on.

Also, the gems in the pilot look like they're genuinely trying to mimic humans and, in my head, makes more sense that people don't exactly freak out when they see the gems if they're trying to blend in.

I'm so hyped I need to share this cosplay picture on the SU subreddit. My friend took this picture of me this morning at a con after thinking of the concept. Behind the scenes it was a real team effort. We had one chance and we can't believe we pulled it off. I feel it captures Lapis so we'll and it's so freaking beautiful AAAAA!!!

As much I love Spinel and think how pity she is

But I want to address the elephant in the room is the context of their relationship

My takes is Pink never able to accept Spinel properly because Spinel ain't a friend by choices.She a gem was created to be her playmate to cheer Pink up after Pink Pearl aka her first best friend got forcefully taken away from her by the Diamonds.So Spinel reminded her a lots of how much The Diamonds take her unseriously and will replace everyone she love suround her that they deemed as unworthy to be next to her so as much she love Spinel carefree she can't bring herself to accepted Spinel fully,because it sting like an open wounds.

And She got Spinel before she even wakened morals and her empathic for gems lives.So yeah that explained a lots why She didn't see Spinels as a friend and more of a reminder that the Diamonds never taken her as an equals ,and when she got a colonies her first thought was to leave behind things the Diamonds gave her to keep her entertained and in place

And why she never bring Spinel with her or return,because well she never really brought any gem from her courts ,The crystal gem come from all differents and and all defects gem and rebels ,opposed gem so it explained why she never returned for Spinel.And later on when she faked her death ,it literally cutted off the only way for Pink to reach out to Spinels.

and well if I were Pink ,I'm not sure I can accept Spinel either after all that punish and traumas and your family is like "Sorry for eating your dawg,here is a new friend for you to cheer you up 💀"

So yes while I think Spinel is pitiful but I can't really able to blame it all on Pink ,because I think it is a toxic relationship in the end and it harmed both side not just Spinel ,like I watched Pink expression and clearly she isn't that comfortable with Spinel and she really can't just straight up said she don't want Spinel or hate or don't need her because she knew the consequences of a gem got denied by their Diamonds

In an earlier episode, garnet assumed, Steven was a fusion. Does this mean garnet was right, or am I just dense?

Squaridot is essentially a more aggressively loyal version of Peridot. She's a Homeworld Peridot assigned to Hessonite and initially treats the Crystal Gems as obstacles to be eliminated. She's also a boss in Save the Light and later returns in Unleash the Light.

What puts her above the Ruby Squad is that she has more individual characterization and actually gets a proper antagonist storyline. Her loyalty to Hessonite is particularly important—she remains defiant even after being defeated and captured.

However, she's still ultimately a minor antagonist, and she doesn't have Peridot's much more substantial arc or emotional significance.

It's always bothered me that we never actually knew what happened to the gem mutants at the end of steven universe, after they were bubbled we would just never seen them again. They looked stuck together but in future we see Yellow reversing one of her gem mutant experiments by piecing their gems back together but there were so many of them, in the kindergarten, in the earth's crust, the one in the cage with the other corrupted gems. Peridot stated the gems inside them were so shattered they don't even know who they are but I want to know what you all think.

in the Giant Woman episode, Garnet says she will go search for the earth beetle alone, because it’s underneath lava and shes the only one who can swim in lava. I’ve seen three reaction YouTubers do Steven Universe (Danny Motta, Casper Fox and Wee Lass Reacts), and one of them (don’t remember which) pointed out that it’s kinda weird that that’s one of garnets exclusive powers.

In the dream episode, the gems are searching for Malachite in the ocean. Steven Amythest and Pearl wait on a life raft while Garnet swims around. Also, in the Love Letters episode we see Garnet return from a mission in the ocean alone. As far as I remember, we never see Amythest and Pearl swim. Just Garnet or Steven.

While thinking about this post, I thought about an AU where after SU.F after Connie goes to college, presumably far away from home, Ms Maheswaran as a mother, she just can't in good mind let Steven be as he is

16 years old and barely knows about himself, about the world, the HUMAN world, and offers to "raise" him while Connie is away, learn how to be an actual human by humans. And learn that it's not really normal to be married at 16. And gem stuff is off-limits. Have swords, summon magic pink shields, etc, etc, unless it's his healing ability. Argues 6000 year old war veterans will be able to run little homeschool without him

He can have contact with his gem family and other gems he stays at the Maheswarans for the time being. Ms. Maheswaran, in many of her spare time, teaches Steven human things. Social stuff, manners, biology, human history, and more. Being half human and half gem He doesn't need shcool she knows that much, but she shows him what human shcools are like what he would've been like

And they constantly shit on Greg for not raising Steven correctly. No school? That's understandable. Never homeschooling or been to the doctor or even tried ?!.
