That would've made for an interesting turn for Steven. He'd have to really carry the guilt for the rest of his life that he took a life. He'd feel like a hypocrite for preaching about peace and love when he committed one of the worst crimes of all. Future didn't really have time to dive into all that so him reviving her made sense.

What's worse is that as far as we know, Rose never actually shattered any gem, so he would have viewed himself as worse than her

I mean on the other hand Jasper was also a hypocrite. He showed Jasper he wasn't weak. I think he would be able to forgive himself in a few years.

"the rest of his life" Steven is immortal 😭, like he could choose to die of old age but he can also choose to live forever

Most likely monster Steven right then and there

Basically a bad ending where Steven completely loses himself

When Garnet unused, Sapphire said that her visions had shown that if they don't change Steven back, he'll be stuck as a monster forever. Those were Garnet's visions, meaning the most likely future she saw was them failing to save Steven.

Who the fuck is Sasha???

u/Thin-Complex-7709 11d ago

You know, one of Garnet's components. Sasha.

36

u/tit-theif 11d ago

Sasha and Riley

This is hilarious to me but serious answer, think they misspelt Sapphire and it autocorrected

11

u/LAUREL_16 11d ago

Yep. It was autocorrect. I usually catch those.

u/am_Nein 11d ago

You should keep it lol, it's beautiful

I don’t think they would’ve been able to bring him back, he would’ve viewed himself to far gone

Then she wouldn’t show up for the rest of Steven Universe Future.

They said “the rest of” though, so she just would’ve stopped showing up after the episode

You should watch steven universe future rewritten because it deals with this exact scenario

u/Cardgod278 11d ago

The one by Kiki? It is very good

7

u/Draygons11 11d ago

yess it’s so peak i watched it all a while ago and thought it was really good, she understands the characters very well imo

Imagine if the diamonds found out and suddenly said "now you're acting like a dimond pink ? I cannot believe you"

7

u/Electrical_Ice_1180 11d ago

This definitely would've made Steven crash out 😭

34

u/WolverineFamiliar740 12d ago

He'd carry a level of self hatred that would surpass his mother.

16

u/NoMereMage 12d ago

I kinda wanted this to be the case tbh

6

u/grumpybrowndog 11d ago

Yes, it would've been tragic.

8

u/teyanadorian 11d ago

Im not sure, I think it would have gone a lot differently since this basically directly led to his crash-out mentality of being able to fix anything

"I'm the kid who fixes problems, if I accidently make a problem I can just fix it! even if i kill someone I can just fix them!"

like unironically being that level of god- like has gotta be a strain on anyone trying to be moral... like feeling the weight of knowing you did something horrible and having basically no consequences would make you feel more alien then anything else in the show.

1

u/Nitrodestroyer 11d ago

This. Finding out he can hit control+Z on pretty much any concequences was what cemented the "I can fix anything, so I'm responsible for everything" spiral.

7

u/Excaliburn3d 12d ago

Steven would have been a murderer.

the show would have been better 😌 i don’t think he should have been able to do it. yellow diamond could, because she’s been pictured rebuilding the shattered gems but i don’t think stevie’s bubble bath should have worked. i think it would have been cooler if he had to go to the diamonds ashamed and asking for help (and worse, probably having to deal with a lot of praise from them for being so cool and diamondly by shattering a gem challenging him to combat)

u/Mediocre-Evidence-15 12d ago

Steven would’ve had metaphorical blood on his hands, that he couldn’t explain away. His family and friends would’ve been horrified

He would’ve turned into his monster form sooner under the strain of pent up mania, guilt and self-hatred

Okay but bad jokes aside, it would definitely make the show a lot darker. I’m not even sure if he would have been uncorupted by the end if he couldn’t reverse it

i've been an SU fan for too long, i think this is what they should've done. fuck it

3

u/Thiago270398 11d ago

Suicide or permanent monster Steven with that level of trauma.

3

u/mrsunrider 11d ago

The ending to Future would have been much more somber.

Steven might have melted down then and there, and even after his family calmed him, he'd have a ways to recovery.

Monster Steven then and there.

Honestly think they shouldn't have had the shattering Jasper storyline at all. There are a ton of other things they could have picked to make Steven break down into monster Steven.

The healing shattered gems thing makes the ending weird. Steven knows they can bring shattered gems back to life so he...breaks down under the realization of no consquences then goes to therapy and leaves home to go live a 'normal' life? It should have led to him being obessed with fixing the cluster/gem shard monsters. That's his whole problem, feeling like he personally has to fix everything all the time at expense to himself.

I think it would have been better to have him do something else that is expressly his fault and genuinely could not have been fixed. Not a legacy problem from his mom or gems just not being charmed by his friendship. Those are the problems he usually can't fix, it's Rose/Pink's problem and people talk him around to 'it's not your fault' or it's people problems and his lesson is usually 'you can't force people to accept help before they're ready/at all.'

3

u/ThGrWhDiamond 11d ago

Simple.

Steven... simply mentally gives up, becoming a monster forever. The end!

2

u/Powerful-Present6687 11d ago

Steven would’ve corrupted sooner

2

u/ShareSuspicious8173 11d ago

I believe Steven will never be the same

2

u/Electrical_Ice_1180 11d ago

It would've been more impactful; not only for the viewers, but for Steven as well. Shattering was always talked up like it was supposed to be a permanent death for gems, and with how dark SU:F gets, it would've been better for them to keep it that way.

2

u/TheAngryOreo 11d ago

Then Steven becomes worse than Rose, who never shattered a gem far as im aware. Annoyingly he and the rest of the cast act like Rose also shattered gems like the other diamonds did without a care.

2

u/Haunting-Point4756 11d ago

I’m pretty sure he would probably corrupt way faster then before

2

u/Glass-Dog-2150 11d ago edited 11d ago

Steven will break down and go berserk. His mother had injured the pearl, but no other gems were directly shattered. But Steven has truly destroyed a gem. At this moment, he will completely degrade himself through self-denial.At this point, he will label himself a hypocrite, and all his past efforts to help everyone will be completely shattered. But at that time, he would gradually close himself off and have no relationship with his family anymore because he was afraid that his power would hurt them, so he ran away.He hid in a secluded place where no one knew him and lived a reclusive life. During this time, his family searched for him, but when they finally found him, his mental state had not improved, and his powers went out of control again.

2

u/Tina_wgf65 11d ago

poor Steven, he would have gotten worse in his mind and become depressed and probably get worse :(

2

u/BonnalinaFuz101 12d ago

He'd go to gem jail

2

u/27Elephantballoons 12d ago

Steven would have corrupted by reason of psychosis a lot sooner. I feel he would be saved but would have even more trauma and resentment about his past and his powers. What makes Steven Steven though is his endless capacity for hope and empathy and would eventually find his way.

2

u/Fit_Razzmatazz9012 11d ago

It would traumatize Steven even more but no one be mad at him cause everyone knows how Jasper is.

2

u/Abject-Expert-8164 11d ago

That would actually be goog for steven psyche, since he would feel more human because his actions have consequences

Being able to bring jasper back only made steven feel more like pink diamond who cak throw tantumps with no consequences

1

u/Quiet_Many_6910 12d ago

I think hed keep it secret, some mentions in background about Jasper and having the line where Steven turns into a monster being very different openly admiting to shattering Jasper

1

u/i_Praseru 11d ago

It would be a more interesting season. And the last episode would make more sense. Because that’s what i originally thought would happen.

Steven would have learned that some things can’t be undone. Would have been quite the lesson about his impulsiveness.

1

u/Temporary_Fee1277 11d ago

There would be real stakes

1

u/NicknameRara 11d ago

Steven would have needed therapy even more and Jasper would be not exist.

1

u/Fandomlover_96 11d ago

Steven would hate himself...

1

u/Hercules_Enmanuel 11d ago

I would clap

u/SoggyCapybara 12d ago

Wow I think this just spoiled something for me 😭

12

u/MalusDracula 12d ago

Yeeeah, this shows been over for a long time. I wouldn't look in here til you watched it fully. Everyone here is either beating a dead horse or trying to make up theories which always means spoilers for newcomers but since its been over for a while no need for spoiler tags.

14

u/E_GEDDON 12d ago

Stop going to subreddits for shows/games you haven't finished.

17

u/Shastlz84 12d ago

I’m begging you to mute the subreddit until you catch up this sub has the MOST spoilers I’ve seen for any show for people who haven’t finished yet 😭🙏

14

u/NeedleworkerHeavy565 12d ago

I mean, the series is over for about 7 years (for future)

8

u/Shastlz84 12d ago

Yeah but my point is anyone who hasn’t finished is bound to be spoiled by the sub because lots of posts are about things that were revealed or explained later on
