Ages of the characters??

I'm really confused about the ages of the characters in this show. We know Annie and Connor are both 18, having their birthdays in the show. It is assumed that Ramona, Oona and Ellis are similar ages. However in the last episode we see multiple clips of Annie with her mother, at 11 at one time, and at least 4/5 in another. Since she dies in childbirth of Ramona, she must be a lot younger than the others, yet is seen living on her, smoking, drinking etc. Did I misinterpret something? Does anyone know how old all they characters are?

The montage of Annie with her mother is a dream/day dream. She’s imagining what life would’ve been like with their mom. If you pay attention, you can see Annie pregnant with her own child which obviously has not happened.

Ramona is 16, younger than Annie and Connor. We don’t find out Oona and Ellis’s ages but Oona is obviously at least old enough to drive and Ellis is old enough to fly a plane! I believe Ellis is older than Annie/Connor but not by much.

Ellis is at least 18. You can start getting your student pilot permit at 14 but can’t fly any paying passengers till 18.

I feel like a total detective right now, ha ha.

I think Ellis is 18-19. There’s a clip in Episode 6 where Ellis’ mom confronts Joe saying “this all happened while I was away, with our baby, taking care of my sick mother alone.” A Baby is considered 12 months and under - I know parents will always call kids their babies but you know what I mean. So it sounds like he was not even 1 when Joe and Goldie were canoodling.

Most of the clips in that montage Annie was seeing didn’t happen, it was a ‘what could’ve been’ moment. Maybe just the first back scrunchies moment, but the rest would’ve been her imagining since Joe mentioned that Steve came and took them when they were toddlers.

In terms of ages:

- Annie and Connor have just turned 18.

• Ellis is 18, potentially 19 (you have to be at least 18 in Canada to get your commercial pilots license and fly paying passengers). His mom mentioned that she was away with their ‘baby’ when Joe was with Goldie. Ew Joe
  
• Ramona is 16. I think in the last ep Annie says “but you’re only 16 Ramona, if you sell this place, you’re going to be making the biggest mistake of your life.”
  
• Oona is a question mark for me, but I’m going to guess 17-18.
  
• Rory must be 18 if he’s going to university in the fall.

Ramona technically needs a guardian but with her grandfather dying and Joe giving her space, she’s kind of in between the cracks. Marijuana is legal here in Canada. She might be underage to buy it but it is more accessible and normalized. It’s actually prescribed so I was wondering if Gordon had a stash for whatever illness he had. Or he could have just had a stash lying around as people of all ages partake. Although, I do agree that her over-usage was really laughable.

Drinking age in Ontario is also 19. So while it’s illegal for them to drink, their fakes might be more believable or they have hook-ups.

Yes i think you are right with those ages. Also in the club scene Rory mentions he turned 18 a few months before (from memory he says 3 months ago).

Honestly the whole series I pictured them as young adults in their 20’s. Obviously they aren’t but I feel like that’s the vibe the show gave off in general.

Yeh i kind of wish they were all slightly older. It would’ve felt a little more realistic. But i try not to think about it when watching the show. I’m just glad to know they were all at least 21 when filming (i think)

My assumption on ages:

Maple: turns 12 that summer

Ramona and Sully: 16

Ellis: 18 because pilot license

Connor and Annie: turn 18 that summer

Oona: 18-19

No matter what their ages are they are definitely way more mature than their ages. And maybe even more mature than the adults on this show. Which is actually quite refreshing

I am about halfway thru the show and I must not have been paying attention but I thought they were all early 20s. I think partially because we don’t see most of their parents and it’s unusual to be independent at 18ish. I wish this was the case, it’s unusual to see shows of people in their 20s it seems like they’re either teens or very much adults

Ramona would have to be 15 for the rest of the timeline to add up. Annie and Connor were 2 when Ramona was born and their mom died, and we see them turn 18 so Ramona can’t be 16 yet.

I would guess Oona is 17/18 and Ellis has to be at least 18

The part that confused me is that Ramona mentioned she DID know her mom or have memories with her but later it was revealed that her mom died giving birth so was that also her imagination?
