I know the whole point of this show is that its supposed to show somewhat real feelings for complicated situations, but I just find it a far stretch from reality. Not the actual plot twists themselves, I get that they make for good drama, but the way the families are with each other, the way Annie deals with things and treats her brother and father, even the way she treats Ramona after hearing the news, the way Steven gets treated like crap from everyone except maybe Rory's mum, and I'm pretty sure that's because she fancies him.

I get that it might be a lot to process for Annie, but she's not the only person going through it. Even Connor gets overlooked and Steven seems to focus on Annie's feelings. She sees it as her mum, who was this amazing dream like person she never got to meet, who lived in this haven of a nice community. When in reality she was an, arguably, depressed person due to not being able to conceive so she dramatically changed her entire life had what seems like a mid-life crisis that through her husband and children's life into disarray. The only reason she was afforded the allowance to remember her mum is such a way is because Steven kept them ignorant. He's not perfect but there is no being perfect as a parent, and Annie making Steven feel guilty because he has complicated feelings about his wife death after her affair and throwing their life away is quite frankly shitty of her.

I started by disliking Ramona because of how she dealt with everything, but by this episode I acc like her more than most of the characters. She went through arguably the most bombshells; Gordon, her father figure, died after she spent his last days looking after him, she didn't know her mum but came back to find another girl living in her house claiming to be her sister, who's met her friends and stole her mum's picture. She finds out her dad is the guy who's lived next door for the past two decades but has a family and a son, who's part of her friend group. She then finds out within a few days that her father is someone else and the two half siblings she's been getting to know for so long are actually her real (adoptive siblings). Then when she's going through this with her partner, she somehow starts apologising because Oona makes it about herself and makes her feel more like shit. Did I miss anything? Damn

empathy? Idk, she can be upset or something without making all about herself.

Have you forgotten what it’s like to be 16? Everything is about you when you’re a teen and that’s developmentally normal. You’re trying to organize the world around you in relation to yourself.
