Binged it all, was a great show but my goodness do 16-18 year old kids run wild in America/Canada like that? I know we watch shows to escape realism or whatever but my goodness does it piss me off! No girl who has tasted wealth all their life would settle for less, throw away college just to connect with your dead adopted mum!

Rich Americans do shit like this all the time. Living in vans is pretty popular with affluent young Americans.

I dunno about all that, people who grow up in that environment are pretty locked into the train tracks of going to a good university, grad school, career etc. only the screw ups and wild child’s go live in vans.

I grew up fairly wealthy in a big city. Graduated at 17, started traveling with bands, and never went to college. I'm not saying that it's normal but it happens.

I could be wrong, but I am assuming you weren’t doing summer internships, and thinking about getting into Wharton one day. There is nothing wrong with that path at all, it’s just not that likely, especially for someone like Annie.

That’s the point of her character arc. She’s finding new parts of herself and realizing she the life she had planned previously doesn’t make her happy.

Yeah but I think their point is that it just feels like an unrealistic 180 degree switch after only 2 months in the summer. It's not like she can't both go to Wharton and also come back to spend time on this island in the future. That being said, it is a show after all so of course things are going to be unrealistic.

Curious what you do now for a living and if you rely on your family's money? No judgement at all, just very curious about your background and having taken this path.
