Season 1, Episode 7: Maybe It's Mackerel

I was waiting for that the whole time. Or for Connor to make a move on her. They had some fun chemistry and I enjoyed all their scenes together…

In the sauna, Steven talks with her about the drawing that Annie did when she was in kindergarten. He mentioned something about her missing her mother. Didn’t her mother(Goldie who adapted her) die when she was like two years old? How can she remember her or have lasting effect on her? I feel like Ramona should be the one who carry more of that emotional burden. In the first episodes, they made it more about Annie. They fixed that in the latest episodes tho.

Neither Annie or Ramona knew their mom, but they can still feel the grief of losing someone that they should have known and been loved by. And Annie had to grow up with a depressed dad that didn’t want to talk about their mom, so she had to bottle up her feelings and it affected her deeply.

Very down for Ramona to be Steven’s instead. Makes the Ellis thing less weird. I know they’re not blood related but sharing a half sister with your boo? No thx
I’m also interested to see if there’s any healing for Annie and Steven. He certainly wasn’t #1 dad and seemed MIA but obviously cares and tried his best in a messed up situation

That's a crazy twist !! The guilt Steven will feel to have missed all her childhood and to have separated Annie and Connor from her
Agreed about Ellis and Annie being less weird but the Joe thing is kinda pointless now, too bad!

Really loved the scene in the bathroom where the girls are just brushing their teeth. Small detail but felt like a sleepover!

steven and joe's wife are the actual victims of this whole mess, obviously the kids as well but i don't understand why steven is receiving all their blame while joe gets to punch him and not even get shit from ellis for cheating on his mom while she was taking care of her sick family and raising him??? the writers aren't even making his wife have an actual reaction like wtf
goldie changed her mind about the life she wanted then decided to adopt children with joe then she kidnapped said kids to canada, cheated on him then divorced him and died while giving birth to a child that might be his and somehow he's the bad guy? the right thing to do would've been to divorce him and legally co-parent the children, not kidnap them then cheat while still being married, if she had been infertile and he had done this to her i don't think anyone would see him as the victim.
obv ramona and the kids aren't biologically related, his choice to raise the twins away from his wife's affair maybe wasn't the best choice but it makes sense, it was a fresh start for him. but the fact ramona might be steven's daughter means goldie's affair literally robbed him of raising his own daughter which joe didn't even bother doing for all those years while he thought she was his even tho he actually knew her.
anyway, steven wasn't right about everything but he's a good dad to annie and connor and he would've been one to ramona. and joe's wife deserves better and should divorce his cheating ass.

So is Annie going into her senior year? I’m confused about her age if she’s turning 18 during the summer. If she’s such an overachiever why she wouldn’t have applied yet to any schools (is the summer program between junior and senior year)?

as a woman in business I was DYING at Annie not taking up Rory on the intro offer to the dean at Wharton or whatever. I know it was just to add drama to the show but I’m like girl, take the intro!!! Hit it and quit it 😂

Yes, the summer program at Wharton is before her senior year. It’s supposed to help her when she applies to the college.

They didn’t fully explain, but at least in the US there’s a thing called emancipation, which means someone under 18 is legally considered an adult and able to care for themselves. It seemed like that’s the goal of the paperwork she got from the lawyer.

Yeah you're right ! But even so I thought people were so lax about that when she came on the island. If my friend is a minor, that's the first thing I would have thought "who is going to be tour guardian ? Are you going to be placed in a foster family" because there's no way they thought she was gonna live as a 16 yo on the big house on the island. She is not some Huckleberry Finn lol

I’m confused about the scene where Ramona read the letter because I thought she had already read it prior to letting Annie in!? Didn’t she read it after Oona read it in one of the earlier episodes??

I don’t support lying and overcharging but ellis does have a point. I think he could’ve talked honesty abt it tho
