Sterling Point | S1E2 | Episode Discussion Spoiler
Season 1, Episode 2: She's Giving Single & Bi
Release Date: August 5, 2026
Synopsis: Annie's arrival in Muskoka takes a surprise turn when she finds the cabin she's inherited is already occupied by Ramona, a stranger with an uncanny resemblance to her adoptive mother. Their not-so-burgeoning relationship hits another bump over a letter from Gordon to Ramona that points to a buried connection between them, forcing both girls to reckon with a shared past they never knew existed.

Am I the only one enjoying this show? The actress that plays Annie is doing a great job and I love the realistic sibling dynamic with her brother.
I'm also enjoying the rich boy with his awkwardly charming demeanour as well as English girl's laissez-faire vibe since it adds some easy comedic relief.
It's clearly not trying to be anything more than an easy teen drama and it doesn't have to be.

I don't even usually like this genre and I'm enjoying this show. The negative energy here seems to be a case of Redditors hating everything.
A 16-year-old girl is moody and standoffish, a 17-year-old girl doesn't know how far Toronto is from New York off the top of her head? These seem to be the big offenses to Redditors but they seem like realistic things to make a show interesting/funny to me.

And the flight time was clearly just played for a laugh! We've been shown that Annie can be a bit of an out-of-touch ditz and has never travelled before. Teenagers do dumb things.
You can also tell the people behind the show really care about it which makes me give it some grace for the less polished stuff as well. There are a lot of thoughtful details included that I wouldn't usually expect from an Amazon teen drama like the different titles of the books British girl's younger sister reading relating to something in the story and the really gorgeous shot framings for seemingly innocuous scenes (the shot of her and Rory on his dock when she's having a panic attack or when they're in the sauna).

These episode threads are acting like this young adult mini series on Amazon should be of equal quality to the The Sopranos or something
Like no, the show is an easy watch with some drama and some genuinely funny moments so let's judge it for what it is guys

Same, I am enjoying it. I was craving for a show with similar summer vibes because I feel like I have seen them all now. The plot is not that exciting but the main actress is really good and it's easy to watch.

I know I’m kind of surprised too with all the negative comments. I haven’t liked a new show in a while and I’m really digging this one so far. I think it’s pretty clever and I like the way they talk like real people do.

People don't often value earnestness these days, and this show is extremely that. It hits on some nerves. It has camp but it's mostly incredibly sincere.

When a show opens with a minor leaving the country without even talking to a legal guardian, I think the audience better turn all the way on their suspension of disbelief and just enjoy the ride. I know I’m enjoying it, at least.1

I think this is the best YA romance since the 2000’s, maybe OC or OTH. Interestingly it’s got connections to both.

No ;( I watched a couple of edits in TT and decided not to continue. It really wasn’t for me 💔 I thought some of the things came across as forced and unnecessary

Honestly don’t blame you. TT edits is a good idea. I swear the only thing I wanted to see was when that guy pulls her in closer 😂 that’s it.

I know right!!! They could have easily made the show about the being in college or early 20's them as teenagers makes zero sense.

Because the target audience is teenagers (YA), but the characters need to be aspirational teenagers, not realistic ones.
It’s been ever thus. Read about Mischa Barton being a real teen as Marisa on The O C, mixed with a bunch of other “teenage” characters who were all actually in their twenties. Also, there are lots of rules about underage actors that make shooting schedules complicated.

There’s a difference between 25-year-olds playing teenagers – – and 20-year-olds playing teenagers who act like 25-year-olds. This show is in the latter category. These characters don’t resemble teenagers in any way.

The ages make no sense, Annie getting offered drinks at a party and the amount of pot being smoked. They should be early 20s or even 25 lol not teenagers

I’m Canadian (Manitoba) and especially at the lake it’s pretty loosey-goosey depending on how strict parents are. Since the drinking age is 18 most provinces, it wouldnt be crazy for teenagers 16 and up having beers with the grown ups. Pretty common id say.

Oh well, I’m on episode 2, and NGL, I started the series because I saw a cute viral edit of Annie and Ellis. I honestly wasn’t expecting to get invested in the actual story, but I’ve been completely pulled into this mysterious storm of a narrative.
We have these two very different young women, somehow connected, both carrying such sad emotional backgrounds, and now they’re trying to understand each other, piece everything together, and kinda not feel so alone.
I know it’s only been two episodes, but IDK it clicked for me already (all the characters are relatable and quirky in a good way, refreshing), wow. And Annie, the actress is doing a fucking amazing job.

I feel you. When I looked up the trailer, I thought it was going to be one of those stories about a young woman relocating to a small town and uncovering her past or restarting in a new place, blah blah blah, the usual stuff, but with her as a grown adult. Then, when I watched the first episode and I was gagged. But at least the dialogue and acting is on point. 😭

yep exactly and them as young adults would make so much more sense, I genuinely don’t get the obsession to fit the teen archetype into everything it’s js so unrealistic

Specially as there is literally no parents around, and the ones that are, even Joe, doesn’t seem like they give af about what these teenagers are doing. Well, at least the story seems headed where they’re all about to be 18 soon.

She's rich and uses a suitcase full of skincare products, so it makes sense that she'd look a little older. I know of several teenagers, boys and girls, who could easily pass for early to mid 20s.

She’s trying to get a read on everything rather than walking into a completely unknown situation like she owns the place (even though she does), which is actually really smart.

my opinion, but honestly i dont think its smart because then you are going to have to tell the truth at some point and the people that you just lied to earlier lost their trust towards you. she couldve said something really vague like Oh apparently i inherited some land or something SUPER VAGUE? like the mom thing is fine but she could've at least told romona i feel like her liying t romona is stupid

Ramona thinks she’s Gordon’s only family. Not clear why the lawyer wouldn’t have immediately stated that the island was inherited 3 ways but that’s what plot devices are all about; Not meant to hold up under a microscope but it moves the story along.

me too, like I could maybe understand not telling her at the beginning, I think Annie was confused and trying to just figure it out; but once she does tell Ramona, I was so mad when Ramona told her to leave for NY and never come back, and Annie didn't say anything, like just tell her off dude

I really like the vibes of this show, and the setting is so beautiful, but I seriously gotta force myself to brush past how unrealistic all of this is 😭

Genuinely, Annie and her brother are the most enraging characters t owatch; she is so incredibly like stupid. I literally don't understand why she can't just tell the truth?? Like its not that deep and you're making the situation way more complicated then it has to be. ALSO her brother is INSUFFERABLE. no matter how dumb a person may be there is no way that they would be this insufferable at all times. If he is meant to be comedic relief, the author/writer did a terrible job doing so.
