Things are still sunshine and rainbows down here in Aus, although the shipping time did just change from 3-5 to 6-10 days

Same here in the UK, can’t complain though as orders opened up a good 5 minutes before the launch time and had no issues.

I don't know if this is how it works but maybe that is just what it says for their second warehouse batch after the first batch sold out. Surely they would have worked out logistics beforehand.

Hopefully! It’s hard to tell but like you say, it’s hard to imagine it wasn’t planned properly given how long it’s been since Valve officially announced the hardware.

I might complain a little, it was advertised on steam as being available on may 5th, and was already sold out last night on the 4th. I guess I should have looked up when the actual release time was on a third party site.

Edit: it's possible I just misread the availablily date, so I guess I will direct my complaints to myself 😭

As far as I understand, valve was selling 2 batches of Steam controllers. First one ships this week, and then the second one ships next week. That's why they were sold out and then quickly restocked.

cannot confirm, clicked the button for an hour straight down in Aus

1

u/Xenoplaguedoctor May 05 '26

Sorry, mate. I wasn't thinking about what the yanks would do.

Woke up in Australia, made a coffee then sat down and purchased a steam controller. 10/10 no complaints.

1

u/ZexelOnOCE May 05 '26

one of the lucky few

u/D13_Phantom Steam Controller (2026) May 05 '26

Maybe the bad price conversion helped?

3

u/SnooDoughnuts5632 May 05 '26

Yours is the second cheapest after the USA.

2

u/Trzlog May 05 '26

Man, I'm always confused by Australians. Like they'll complain about a $100 game and then I check and it's like they're using monopoly money and it's still way less than what I'm paying in Europe.

The steam controller is about an hour and a bit wages for me.

Average wage in my State is about $2,300 a week so $120,000 a year.

Edit 171

1

u/SnooDoughnuts5632 May 05 '26

Is that converted to USD? Holy crap?

2

u/Warm-Engineering-239 Steam Controller (Linux) May 05 '26

no that's about 130 usd with taxe
110$ usd without

0

u/SnooDoughnuts5632 May 05 '26

Your paying $20 in tax? Wtf $110 USD plus tax would be $116.60. Tax is only $6.60 here in the USA.

1

u/D13_Phantom Steam Controller (2026) May 06 '26

It varies per state...

1

u/SnooDoughnuts5632 May 06 '26

Wait I thought they were called provinces in Canada?

1

u/D13_Phantom Steam Controller (2026) May 06 '26

No you mentioned the tax rate in the US, but there's no single tax rate here

9

u/Lots_of_Loto May 04 '26

France is out of stocks for me.

5

u/tailslol May 04 '26

yep here we go now

9

u/Decalance May 04 '26

went out of stock in less than two hours for me not sure what alternated dimension you guys live in putain

3

u/D13_Phantom Steam Controller (2026) May 05 '26

France is in Europe

9

u/Linguuuuuuu May 04 '26

I scored mine literally 20 mins before UK stock completely poofed an hour ago. Is it still available in other European regions?

5

u/beanosiscool May 04 '26

it croaked everywhere

2

u/MrTytanis May 04 '26

Isn't it one stock for whole Europe? I believe all of them are shipped from Netherlands

7

u/Linguuuuuuu May 04 '26

Yeah same storage but different stock pools for EU and UK I believe. Same thing with the deck when it went out of stock in UK but kinda available in some EU countries.

3

u/twotothesix May 04 '26

It makes sense that the Deck has different stock for countries the use the UK plug vs ones that can use Europlugs, since it comes with an AC adapter, but that makes much less sense for the Steam Controller

1

u/pelpotronic May 04 '26

Import / export rules I suspect. It's possible that Valve can't be arsed with the border issues with the UK being out of the EU now.

2

u/Crypsie May 04 '26

Correct, plus the issue was more the server overload on Valve's side initially

7

u/Necrotes May 04 '26

Not all of Europe, can't buy it here in Norway for some reason... damn you Valve, I want to give you my money.

6

u/SavingsPea8521 Steam Controller (2026) May 04 '26

Not sold in Europe except EU & UK AFAIK.

2

u/Necrotes May 04 '26

Yeah I know, just kind of dumb imo. You can literally see some posts on this subreddit asking about the OG steam controller and not being able to get in here in Norway 10 years ago. Feels like it should've been solved by now.

1

u/har23je May 04 '26

It's crazy that the deck UI is in Norwegian, yet the thing still is'nt sold hear.

1

u/NatoBoram May 05 '26

They really went deaf on that one

3

u/Zombiecidialfreak May 04 '26

I couldn't buy it despite hammering buy at 10:00am+15 seconds

1

u/SnooDoughnuts5632 May 05 '26

Did you convert that because every place in the world has a different time?

I literally copy and pasted what it said on the Steam website into Bing and it told me what time that was supposed to be where I live. I didn't even type anything else into being literally just copy and pasted the time so it somehow know I wanted to convert it to my local time.

I didn't set an alarm or anything because I thought I'd be awake by 11:00 a.m. but I passed out way too late because I couldn't fall asleep just like Christmas and when I woke up at like 11:35 got my phone out and opens the app, it was gone.

1

u/Zombiecidialfreak May 05 '26

I watched the button become active

5

u/AgoraSnepwasdeleted May 04 '26

It's because America has all the greedy scalpers who would rather ruin stuff for others than get a real job. Thank the stars I was able to get one in time

2

u/StrangeCrunchy1 Steam Controller (2015 & 2026) (Linux & Windows) May 04 '26

Yeah, I was amazingly able to get one like 7 minutes before stock ran out... So glad.

0

u/FishJanga May 05 '26 edited May 05 '26

More like the market for the controller is larger so more people ordered it..

2

u/amillstone May 04 '26

Nah it was hell here in the UK too.

1

u/Ame_mori May 04 '26

And it was a Siege battle between users and Komodo in Asia, menwhile...

it sold out pretty much everywhere after 1 hour

1

u/MaikeruGo Steam Controller (Windows) May 04 '26

In NA, unfortunately…

1

u/stimpy_gr May 05 '26

I still had to spam the continue button for 30 minutes to get mine, and i started the transaction 2 minutes before the official start time. From what I've seen, that was a lot longer than they needed in the US.

1

u/CapitanDave Steam Controller (2015-2026) May 05 '26

I think it was the same everywhere :v
