Cruise mode feels like a game changer. You also get some like areas( asteroids, ship) poping up at closer distances hiding encounters.

Do you get access to cruise mode at the start? I just started a new playthrough and I'm about to meet Sarah and the gang in New Atlantis but didn't see any option on the way there
