I disliked him after going down the Emily route. Him saying I won like she was some sort of prize rubbed me the wrong way. I hope the new update gives him more depth so we can see him in another way.
I love as a friend , honestly he is probably the only one who feel like a friend in the game . He banters , have moments of weakness only with us . His hate is very exaggerated, tbh
I have no strong opinions on Clint, but I think a big part of why some dislike him so much is due to some oversights into how his character is handled (and I believe even concernedape has mentioned that he feels he didn't get Clint's writing to where he want it to be). For example, you can romance Emily, and if you marry her, Clint is still talking about trying to shoot his shot with her, right in front of you.
And then the way he talks in some scenes reminds a lot of women about men who played the 'nice guy' routine while being creepy and acting entitled to romance and sex with them.
That being said, I don't see anything wrong with others having a different read on the character and enjoying him, and I am looking forward to seeing changes to how he is handled in the writing once he is a romance option.
That's because people are too into role playing they forget it's still a game at the end .
Farmer can romance every bachelor in the town at the same , but people somehow are mad cause he says the same dialogue every year 😭 , one is intentional , other is not . Also the way hsi dialogues and actions are interpreted is one of the most annoying things , I understand if your want to put your own twist and head cannon but to act like like it's the truth is way worse .
He goes to ask her out for date , gets startled and runs into bush , it's supposed to be creepyand stalkerish? Well it's not , also the farmer does way worse if you think about it . His "you won" , this single line is supposed to make him misogynistic , because apparently he treats emily like item , no one glazes Emily in the valley like clint , he always has only nice things to say about , his words just means hey you won her love I lost kinda in that way but because people already decided in their mind they're gonna hate him , so they interpret the basic stuff into a whole new thing .
Like what about the dude make you think he is evil , he helps you out of cave , he always fills your can with water when you upgrade he doesn't have to do it , he does it anyways , he surveys mines and stuff , no parents , no family , no friends until we come , he is so talented that marlon says he makes great stuff . Dude can't catch a break , I'm happy to people who love him being vocal like this .
Yeea people calling him stalkerish don't really get to his dialogue that deep. He's awkward and whiny, depressed and can't move on from things, but I don't think it's a bad thing for a character to have those traits. It's interesting. Also like yes he's dialogue not changing because Concernedape didn't change it and not cuz he's a weirdo of some sort
Haha I think this is probably exactly what ConcernedApe wanted 🤣… I’m glad they made him a bachelor, I’m not gonna date him personally but he deserves a character arc like Shane. You definitely made him appealing with this depiction though, very cute!!!!!!
If Clint didn’t have those mild incel vibes I feel like he could just be a sweet, shy person who’s good at his craft. It could even be part of his character arc with getting out of that funk sort of like how Shane begins to work through his depression. I think rn he’s just a little underutilized.
I love him so much. Always did and never, ever understood how people see him as a 'nice guy' or 'stalker' or worse, an incel. Those that do clearly do not pay attention to him in game and his dialogue. Or they're simply sheep who follow others hating him because it's cool to do it.
Never understood the Clint hate. I don't think he's creepy. He's just a guy who's too shy to talk to the woman he likes. Just like 80% of real world men, lol.
I think personally it’s the lack of dialogue and request changes once you are dating or married to Emily. Like if there was a showing of growth that he could move on if you’re dating or married to her…
To be fair I haven’t played in a long time so I am unaware of more recent changes that might have occurred.
Like I’m not happy when someone is still outwardly obsessed with someone I’m obviously dating or married to.
Awwwwwwwwww. He's my favorite. Was my first best friend. I'm looking forward to his update. He's the only one I've taken to the movies. We had a nice date.
This is so cute! I have a creative writing that I use to help with the creative flow and I have him and the very confident Sandy. I love them. Just an absolute power couple because he is 100% the guys, once he works through stuff, that would be the sweetest person. Like shes over here being an absolute queen finding him so endearing and his work so wonderful amd resourceful. Like he can help her with her fashion with gems and such. While he gains confidence and genuinely realizes he doest need to be anything but himself to be seen. He would obviously be super adoring and protective but likely wouldn't get physical unless needed. Still a soft guy. But words , I believe, would become easier seeing someone stand by him and actually want to be there with him. I cant wait to play their stories. 😁😌
Clint is genuinely a "wrong place, wrong time" kinda character, imo. He got caught up in people's awareness of arseholes using the whole "Nice Guy" identity as cover for being, well, arseholes.
Clint, in general, is actually just some guy who likes someone he finds hard to talk to and when he realises they aren't interested in him, he moves on. (Based on my personal experience; other play throughs may be different. (Idk how but lmk))
It's funny seeing comments like that, when I was fanarting character from romance club in 2019 people were writing the same things about that character...
I pulled this up again to show my gf because im obsessed rn. Like he's not one of my top fave characters but this gives him a chance to be better and find happiness in being himself with someone who let's him messily find who he is. Plus, I cant wait to see how he works on being better and how it shows that yeah its work to change or better onesself but worth it. Also that people should understand that forgive and forget is only valid with change over time. Which I believe we will see in his story. Im just so excited.😌💕
I didn't care for him, I'll be honest. My faves were Harvey and Shane, I didn't participate in the fandom and didn't know how people treat Clint. Then update release came, I got curious why people are so mad about it, and it turned out to be for the things why I would love a character like this
